John, thanks for the the info on the great rates available. We just booked the October 20th cruise out of Galveston. So that will be our first Disney cruise not this one.:banana:
Now I in panic mode for getting ready since we sail in 47 days:yay: We don't have travel arrangements to make since are within an hour driving distance. Pretty sure the boat is the Magic so I will try and read all your old posts about the Magic.
This forum has been such a help:cheer2:. Thanks! Sherry

Jessicasmom, if you don't have a plan for the second day, why not move to a hotel near the port that has transportation and dump the car on Saturday? Or, alternately, skip the car entirely and use a shuttle service from hotel to Land, and Land to port.

DH and I were discussing this last night, we were going to shuttle but then he started to look at rental cars since I am the only one out of our group of 5 who has seen LA. He thought it might be nice to have the rental and drive around LA on our way to the port so the kids (meaning him) could see the Hollywood sign and the walk of fame etc. We rent through Avis, discounted through work, and they are at Long Beach so DH would have to do the dropoff/taxi back. Still working on things also.
I've considered all the options, but none are perfect. Thurs and Fri nights will be spent by DL (off property), but Sat night we have reservations in the LAX area (Hyatt Place), sort of a mid-point to be closer to the beach and touristy areas and make it easy to head to the port Sun am. I have pretty much decided a rental car is a necessity, as we like to see as much as possible when we travel. It seems like Avis has the best rates, using coupon codes found online, but Enterprise would be much more convenient (if they are open Sun.) Even if we do an organized city tour, we'll still want to explore some on our own. Given that we are a party of 5 (yep, we are our own party :cool1:), shuttling would get pretty expensive if anything more than airport to hotel and back to port. Sooooo....it continues to be a work in progress!

In celebration of Labor Day, I will be spending the day laboring in our kitchen installing our backsplash.[/QUOTE]

Love what your Labor Day project is, mine is very similar but I am grouting the kitchen backsplash we laid last week. It is actually my daughter's house but I always get roped into these projects. My husband says I volunteer but I never remember actually raising my hand. But I do like tiling especially backslashes. Sherry:)

:rotfl:

I felt the same way...couldn't wait for this one! When Beth (also cruising on this one) made me an offer I couldn't (didn't want to?) refuse, I jumped on it. We leave in just over a week for one of the Canadian cruises!:banana:

How nice of you to help your daughter out! Your daughter is lucky to have such a nice and helpful Mom. I should be grouting today, the plan was to installed on Saturday and grout on Monday but someone (DH) didn't have the new outlets installed in time for that to happen. So grouting will have to wait until next week. This should be my last tile project. I have tiled both bathrooms and kitchen floors, backsplash in both bathrooms and the tub/shower in the upstairs bathroom. After 2 years, the major home improvements are finally winding down. I gutted both bathrooms and the kitchen and refinished the basement, put down hardwood floors throughout the house, painted every room in the house, replaced every interior and exterior doors and closet doors . DH rewired the whole house. I am ready to get my life back. I'm just proud to say that DH and I made it through our first year (8 days short) of marriage with all these home improvements with out killing each other! And DH now knows the names of the differant saws and can bring me the right tool when I ask for one by name! So proud

I'm exhausted :faint: just reading this, but it sounds lovely! That's a major accomplishment for only the first year of marriage :thumbsup2.

You have done so much in one year. Congrats. :cheer2: We are helping our daughter get ready to sell her house. She wants a house with a pool. These past two Texas summers have been brutal. So she decided it's time for a pool.:cool1: Sherry

Good job training your husband right! If you guys can renovate together successfully, I predict you will have a long happy marraige.:goodvibes

We renovate so well together, if we were 30 years younger, we might go into "flipping". We took his mother's little house from gross to showroom ready in 2.5 weeks a couple years ago. This year we did the guest bath and garage. Our next project is our master bath. Could I ask you to post photos of your tile in the baths when you get a chance? I'm seeking ideas!

Our master bath is huge, with a garden tub (useless), a stall shower (too small) and the toilet is right in front of a window:eek: When we get done, the garden tub will be gone and in it's place will be a LARGE shower. The toilet will be moved to where the shower now is, and there will be double vanities, new lighting, new flooring . . . We'll have to have a plumber and electrician and maybe a tile guy but the demo, flooring, drywall & paint we'll do ourselves.

Disneyland is actually LESS crowded on a Saturday, as most of the annual passes are blocked out - so, a perfect time to be there!.
Make a reservation to have lunch (or dinner) at the Blue Bayou ( in the Pirates ride). They are famous for the Monte Cristo sandwich.
I believe Candlelight is on that night, too it is a lovely show (you may be able to make reservations - new for this year).
Get there as early as possible, and stay until they close. I know, that's crazy, but you can rest on the ship. :)
Ride as many of the 'big "E Ticket" attractions in the AM - nice to have a bunch of these under your belt by 10am.
Watch the Christmas parade from the patio on the Plaza Inn while eating dinner. It's fun to be up close to the parade, but you need to use precious time to stake out a spot. Only do this if you have little ones.
Try to ride the Lilly Belle or the first car behind the engine on the train (this can be arranged upon request at the Main street train station. Mention this is your first visit, you have one day, etc.
Get free "1st Visit" buttons on Main street , either at City Hall (there's sometimes a line), or avoid the line and go to the information kiosk at the Hub, at the end of Main Street, as you veer to the left to enter Adventureland.
If you choose to see Fantasmic, there is a dessert package with reserved seating - well worth it for a one-day guest.

Are you visiting California Adventure too?
Thanks so much for the info. It sounds like we will have a blast. I am not sure about California Adventure. We get in on Thursday and will be staying at the Maingate Ramada so we are within walking distance of DL. I am not sure how close the CA is. If we do CA which should we do on what days? Thanks:thumbsup2

Sherry: I am glad to hear it. It ought to be a perfect shake down for the EBPC.

CA entrance is right across from the DL entrance. You can do the majority (if not all!) of both parks in 2 days.

Thanks, I am really proud of what we have done. A pool sounds nice, pretty unless in Delware but I bet it would be great in Texas. Could you post a picture of the backsplash you did today?

After the wedding disaster, thanks Tropical Storm Lee, I knew our marriage could survive anything, the home imrovements proved that point! The DH was very hesitant at the start but now he pretty much trusts me. It is me renovating with DH watching and learning. He even asked to use the table saw the other day! I was lucky enough to have a very handy father who loved to do projects in his free time and taught me everything (with 3 daughter, I was his "boy"). He even built one of our houses. Wish he was alive to see the improvements I've done. I don't know how to post pictures on here but if I figure it out, I would love to share the bathroom pictures. We only have one bathroom with a tub, the other bathroom is a half bath in the basement. I would love to have a garden tub! I wish we had a master bathroom. DH bought the house before we meet so I didn't get any say. If I had, we would not be living in this house!

We waited a long time for this townhome - your day for a bigger house will come!

To post photos, first you need to upload them to a photo hosting site like photobucket.com. Then below the photo, you will see 4 lines of code. copy the bottom one and paste it in your post here and voila! your photo will appear.

We will be staying at the Grand Californian from Monday until we leave for the port on Sunday. Looking into getting a limo/SUV to take us. Is anyone interested in sharing it to help to keep costs down. There is only 2 of us. We will be taking the Supershuttle from SNA to the hotel.

Also, please keep any hints or suggestions coming to help make our trip to DLR even more special.
Thanking everyone in advance for all the help you give to all.:grouphug:

We were also thinking of doing a limo but we have 3 (2 adults and a 4 year-old)... If you don't find anyone else to share and don't mind a child, let us know!

Tracy

Lets see if this works. Sorry to overtake the thread with so many pictures but I am just so proud of my work! The before pictures were taken when my DH closed on the house in 2008. He and his guy roommates lived in the house like this without doing anything work until we got married.

My DH also bought our house before we met; he actually closed just after we met but before we were seriously involved. It was basically a brown box....no style and way too small. I lived with it for many years :headache: before we finally were able to add on, reconfigure the inside and redo the exterior. We added on a large master suite, with a lower level bedroom/bath as well (for Jess). The best decision I ever made was to install a 5 ft. shower with multiple shower heads instead of a tub for the master. Also placed the toilet in its own little room...good move! The downstairs bath only has a shower, but there is still a tub in the main bath if needed....actually, we fill it with water when a severe storm is anticipated (have a well and are all-electric...no power means no pump).

We've painted, wallpapered, installed floors, built decks, et al, but never tiled. DH is great at plumbing, thank goodness, but he will only do minor electrical work...too afraid of fire :worried: to tackle anything major! Of course, after 32 yrs. in the same place, I still think of improvements I'd like to make, so one never knows what we'll tackle next.

I LOVE your pictures :thumbsup2...huge improvement in kitchen and downstairs bath. Good work! :woohoo:

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

WVUR, WOW! Fabulous transformation! Love your choices in tile and flooring. Are the small tiles sheets of little tiles, or did you set each tile individually? I'm jonesing for square basin sinks like that in my new bath!

Any more scrapbookers / stampers want to join our little group? Send PM with your email addy to me with Scrapbook in the subject line.

New work week gives us a fresh start, so I'm off to the gym in an endeavor to shift some more tonnage off my bones.

Happy Day, all!

You have done such a great job. I love the look of glass tiles but they are not much fun to lay. I will try and send you a pic of my daughters kitchen. We used glass tiles for the backsplash there too. Sherry

There was talk on the FB group about getting a shuttle or van from DL to the port, but I haven't heard anything about it in awhile. we are staying at the Fairfield and will need to get to the port. Have you looked at prices? There are just 2 of us as well. If the other way has fallen through we might be intersted. You can PM me.
