Good Morning Fellow Cruisers,
We set sail in 14 weeks,
that is 98 sleeps!
Did you know?
In 1963 florescent lighting was installed, allowing the canal to begin operating 24 hours a day.

That's Interesting! I didn't know that!

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Relaxin' just said it all - 98 sleeps!

Looks to be another beautiful day in the neighborhood. We'll grill out this afternoon - steaks and corn.

Happy Sunday! Hope yours is a FUN day.

Yesterday, we had our first Pre-Cruise Meet with ArGa. The excitement begins.

I think I have finally selected the image for my FE gifts.

We are looking forward to our first trip to the original park. We have been to the World many times but never Disneyland. I know they will be busy on Saturday the eighth but we are going anyway. My magical mouse countdown timer says 94 days 16 hours until we leave. Can't wait

Disneyland is WAY different, but I love it. We went in the spring for 4 days before the Hawaii - I especially love the stuff that is totally different from WDW - Alice in Wonderland, Storybook boats, Haunted Mansion, Even It's a small world. And TOONtown is amazing. To say nothing of California adventure - the Aladdin show - and new cars land - California Screamig'. . . I'm sure people who go often will have other advice for you.

Disneyland is actually LESS crowded on a Saturday, as most of the annual passes are blocked out - so, a perfect time to be there!.
Make a reservation to have lunch (or dinner) at the Blue Bayou ( in the Pirates ride). They are famous for the Monte Cristo sandwich.
I believe Candlelight is on that night, too it is a lovely show (you may be able to make reservations - new for this year).
Get there as early as possible, and stay until they close. I know, that's crazy, but you can rest on the ship. :)
Ride as many of the 'big "E Ticket" attractions in the AM - nice to have a bunch of these under your belt by 10am.
Watch the Christmas parade from the patio on the Plaza Inn while eating dinner. It's fun to be up close to the parade, but you need to use precious time to stake out a spot. Only do this if you have little ones.
Try to ride the Lilly Belle or the first car behind the engine on the train (this can be arranged upon request at the Main street train station. Mention this is your first visit, you have one day, etc.
Get free "1st Visit" buttons on Main street , either at City Hall (there's sometimes a line), or avoid the line and go to the information kiosk at the Hub, at the end of Main Street, as you veer to the left to enter Adventureland.
If you choose to see Fantasmic, there is a dessert package with reserved seating - well worth it for a one-day guest.

Are you visiting California Adventure too?

Thanks for the advice. It will be our first time visiting the Land after many visits to the World (we grew up in Tampa, family still lives there and my best friend and her hubby are Cms= a few trips a year) and we are also trying to do it and CA in one day. I am sure it will be a super packed day. I hope the kids aren't to jet lagged. It will also be our first time staying off property, not sure how I feel about that!

Keep the advice coming

When I was in the process of losing 55 pounds, my size changed pretty frequently. Hate to buy stuff and shrink out of it in just a few months so I visited what my friends call "Boutique G" (that would be Goodwill and Salvation Army) and consignment shops. Some people wouldn't dream of wearing second hand clothes, but I love them - tI figger hey're already broken in:rotfl2:

Linda,
I'm doing the same thing after losing 80, with 20 more to go. I love ARC on half price Saturdays! :) It pains me to buy new clothes that hopefully won't fit in a few months. I'm even wearing my old stuff and swimming in it. It is mentally hard accepting the fact that I CAN fit into clothes 6 sizes smaller, almost afraid to get rid of big stuff.

Same here...we're planning on DL the 7th (Friday), our 1st visit. I'm trying to soak in whatever information I can find; can't wait to see all the differences (many trips to DW over the years)! So excited that everything will be decorated for Christmas :thumbsup2.

I have to admit I lost that "excited" feeling for the past couple of weeks, but picking up a few more FE gift components and supplies for our door tree has "re-lit my fire". Plus, I've been trying to read up on DL and the LA area in general, which adds to the fun. I'm still not sure what to do Sat (8th) as far as sight-seeing; may take a tour, but may just drive ourselves around....hmmm....but I'm having a good time playing with the possibilities.

As far as rental cars go, it appears the Enterprise by the pier is not open on Sundays, which will cause a problem. Who thought the car rental would be the most difficult thing to figure out? We were hoping to rent at SNA and return it in San Pedro. Doesn't look like any other companies shuttle to the port, and DH really doesn't want to drop everyone off, return a car to Long Beach, then taxi back to the port. Still working on it :confused3.

HAPPY LABOR DAY, EVERYONE :goodvibes

Congrats on your weight loss!!! That's amazing :worship:.

WOW! All I can say is WOW! GOOD FOR YOU! (I *wish* i was down 80- unfortunately at -55, my weight loss stalled for a couple years. The Hawaii cruise added 15, which I'm in the process of getting rid of, with great difficulty)

Blue Bayou - I didn't love it :confused3 - the service was off, and the monte cristo sandwich was a big disappointment.

IF you only have one day for two parks - I would only do counter service meals, have a plan, start early, keep hydrated, only hit the high points. Yes, it's smaller than WDW but not THAT small.

"Off property" isn't really an issue at Disneyland.

Jessicasmom, if you don't have a plan for the second day, why not move to a hotel near the port that has transportation and dump the car on Saturday? Or, alternately, skip the car entirely and use a shuttle service from hotel to Land, and Land to port.

Happy Day, all!

Way to go. You must have great determination.

I wore my old stuff and someone gave me the name of their seamstress. Guess I did look like I was swimming in it.

I keep the one size bigger. As I have been getting smaller, I am fitting into clothes that I have not warn for over 10+ years. They are just a little out of style. Pleats in pants and pads in the shoulders were a big thing at one time. Oh yes, and pants were not as stream lined as they are now. I think the second hand store is better then saving for too many years.

Congrats! 80 lbs is amazing. So many wonderful stories of weight loss on here. It is giving me inspiration to try and lose a few more. I lost 40 lbs 3 years ago and haven't been able to lose any more. I would love to shed 20 to 30 more.

DH and I were discussing this last night, we were going to shuttle but then he started to look at rental cars since I am the only one out of our group of 5 who has seen LA. He thought it might be nice to have the rental and drive around LA on our way to the port so the kids (meaning him) could see the Hollywood sign and the walk of fame etc. We rent through Avis, discounted through work, and they are at Long Beach so DH would have to do the dropoff/taxi back. Still working on things also.

"Off property" isn't really an issue at Disneyland.

We were planning on only doing quick service to max our time in the park. We always do sit down dinners at WDW but since we will be having 14 nights of sit-downs on the cruise, we rather enjoy the park and not the food.

Everyone keeps telling me off property isn't an issue at DL but I just love the feel of a Disney hotel. I am sure I will get over it, we are only staying 2 nights.

So yesterday my DH decided he was going to make sure everything was set up on the disney website for when we could book on the 10th. DH HATES the disney website with a passion and always worries about it. So I hear him cursing at the website and don't think much about it. 15 minutes later, he comes to me and says "I messed up" He never admits he is wrong so I started to panic! When DH was logging into my sister's account with her login, he kept getting an error that the birthday didn't match. he of course blamed this on the Disney website until he looked up what he had written as her birthday on her reservation. My sister and I were born on the same day of the month (14th) one month differant (October and November) and 4 years apart. He had written her correct month and day but when he saw the 14th, wrote my year. Lucky for us, all it took was a quick phone call to Disney to correct this!

In celebration of Labor Day, I will be spending the day laboring in our kitchen installing our backsplash.

Just stop in at the Paradise Pier Hotel or Disneyland hotel. You'll feel much better about your off property choice. The Grand Californian IS like what you think of as a "real Disney" hotel. The others? Not so much.

We will be staying at the Grand Californian from Monday until we leave for the port on Sunday. Looking into getting a limo/SUV to take us. Is anyone interested in sharing it to help to keep costs down. There is only 2 of us. We will be taking the Supershuttle from SNA to the hotel.

Also, please keep any hints or suggestions coming to help make our trip to DLR even more special.
Thanking everyone in advance for all the help you give to all.:grouphug:
