I'm not participating in the ornament exchange (it would cut into my reading time too much

), but if we are all finished with any of our books by then, I'll drop by the room with our extras.
And I should have said... anyone would be welcome to participate in the book thing, regardless if you're doing the Ornament Exchange. I don't even see it being a "leave one, take one" exchange thing.... just take them!

They'd only be there if someone was done with them anyway.
Suggestion : One of you, Post your room number on the cruise website labeled
BOOK EXCHANGE. Then hang a shopping bag on the rail outside your door. People can leave their completed books and select from what's there, if they wish. Any leftover books, your stateroom host can take to the crew library.
ChipperMerlin, I'm also a mystery fan. My favorite authors are Michael Connelly, Elizabeth George, Laurie King, CJ Box, Tami Hoag, Sue Grafton, Kathy Reichs, Tess Gerritsen -- I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch. I was recently impressed by In the Woods by Tana French, and Sacrifice by SJ Bolton, so I'm going to hunt down their sequels. When I find a new author I like, I try to start with their first book and then read them all in order. Who do you like? My want-to-read list is long, but I'm always on the look out for new ideas.
I used to read mysteries - read ALL the Del Shannon books, All the Agatha Christies, ALL Dorothy L. Sayers, ALL the Rex Stout Nero Wolf series (gotta love Nero - he likes to EAT) . . .
So many books, so little time! Can you tell you hit on one of my favorite topics?

Both my undergraduate and graduate degrees are in literature, and I've worked in libraries, bookstores, and publishing. I also love children's literature, so reading to the kids, which we do a lot, is always fun!
Yup. I worked in a bookstore. I worked in a library. And I LOVE kids books - I have a whole series published from 1919 - 1945 about a young girl from tween years to married with child. What an amazing view of life in America for the upper middle class. And how could I have forgotten Frances Hodgson Burnett (Sara Crew, Little Lord Fauntlroy, the lost Prince, et al)
I was also in the no ebook camp as I enjoy the feel of a real book until I borrowed my mom's Kindle - now I'm so in love with my Kindle touch I don't think I can go back for pure reading. Pictures are still best in the printed books so my bookshelf will remain for art & travel books!
I'm a biography lover myself, anyone read a good one lately?
1. More Room in a Broken Heart: The True Adventures of Carly Simon
2. Making a Difference: Stories of Vision and Courage from America's Leaders - Chesley Sullenberger
3. 1. Dream New Dreams: Reimagining My Life After Loss by Jai Pausch (Her late husband, Randy, wrote The Last Lecture, which was also amazing)
4. What Do You Care What Other People Think? Further Adventures of a Curious Character by Richard P. Feynman
5. Seabiscuit by Laura Hillenbrand
I've been twice...once in 2003 and this year. Don't know Doggie Kline. I fly a 172 (nose wheel versus tail-wheel). It's definitely a blast. The aircraft are amazing and the people are living history. This year went to presentations by surviving Tuskeegee airmen, two of last five remaining pilots from Jimmy Doolittle's raid on Japan, the navigator of the Enola Gay. Even got to ride along in one of the warbird formations in the opening day airshow.
Hello all,
I've updated the Roll Call on the web site consistent with Liz's last update on page 6 of the thread. Work's been crazy the last month plus I took off a week to feed my aviation bug up at Oshkosh, WI. Anyone that would like to add a photo to their Roll Call listing just email it to me.
I am
with envy! My husband and I try to hit an aviation museum of some sort on every trip and would have really enjoyed the lectures you attended. We've been to The Mighty 8th, near Savannah; NAval Aviation Museum, Pensecola; Air & Space in Washington; Air Power Park, Hampton, VA; US Air Force Museum, Dayton, OH; Kitty Hawk; Walterboro Army Air Field, South Carolina; Military Aviation Museum, Virginia Beach; Museum of Aviation, Warner Robins, GA; Tuskeegee National Historic Site, Alabama. I'm sure there are others I've forgotten, but you can see we are kindred spirits.
