Wow! We are gone a few days and 5-6 pages of posts to read through. Sign me and DH up for the OE! Sounds like fun! We are still out of town, but we'll book our airfare on SW when we get back in a few weeks. Looks like our flight will be at 3:30! So, no rush to get off the boat that morning. Does anyone know if the transport company everyone is using requires you to bring car seats for the kids? If so, we'll probably hold off to see if Disney has a bus that goes to FLL.

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Hope the rain holds off until AFTER I get settled in. It's rained every day this week, so far.

Ya'll are so lucky. No rain here for days. The ground is splitting from being so dry. (mind you we don't need a monsoon, but could use a couple of days with steady, soaking rain). From your posts, you are a pretty busy lady.

Linda

First-- want to apologize to people who sent me pm's. We've been away and didn't have steady access to internet. Answered them tonight.

Will have to catch up with the messages.

Hope you decide to join us - we will be flying out of FLL too - just haven't finalized our plans - if we leave on Sunday our flight leaves at 2:50, but we might wait and fly home Monday morning.

Finally booked. We will be flying out of FLL to Buffalo on Southwest at 2:20 on Sunday. Wished it was a bit earlier but wanted a nonstop flight.

Please sign me up for the Canal Certificate. I want to give it to my husband for Christmas as a momento.

Audrey

We (maybe, I. I have not discussed with DH) are thinking of booking. Currently booked on the Nov. 25 Dream 4 day and WDW, but the IGT is just too inviting. I have cleared it with work, and now to clear it with DH. I have read the first 16 pages, and just decided to throw out my question:
1. If I fly into LAX the day before, should I stay at a hotel at the airport, or closer to port. From what I can tell there is no Disney transportation from the airport.
I plan to rent a car in Miami and drive to Orlando area (Lakeland) and celebrate Christmas with family, and then fly home Dec. 26 (Boxing Day) and back to work Dec. 27. I would love to take the rest of the week off, but my back up for work is cruising the Fantasy for Christmas, so I need to be in the office by the 27th.

Hello, we have booked this cruise. Our group is 6 total. Myself, Dw, DS(18),DD(11). Mil And Fil are in cabin across the hall. This our 5th Disney cruise. We would love to join Fe and will be PMing. We are going out on Wednesday to visit Disneyland.

I booked on Monday, the only non stop flight to PHL is now at 7:45pm - guess we'll get to spend the day in Miami

Welcome - hope you decide to join us - we have a great group going here - it's going to be a great cruise.

We are flying in the day before, but plan on spending the night in the Hollywood area then taking a towncar service to the port. I think depending on when your flight arrives, either option would be good. I know alot of people recommend the Doubletree in the Port area. I thought Disney offered a shuttle to the port, but I can't confirm.

Welcome back Julie - I was wondering where you were :)

.

We are flying in on Friday and staying at the Marriott at the LAX. We also got a pretty good deal thru the TA at a little over $200 for the two night stay at the Marriott. I am not sure what company was offering it, but we already have reservations. The Marriott has a shuttle from the airport to the hotel and then you take the shuttle back to the airport to catch the Disney shuttle to the port. We have already booked our shuttle thru Disney. When I talked to Castaway club, they said that someone from Disney would be at the baggage claim area to direct us. ( We were told by our travel agent that we would get the details on which terminal closer to time) Hope this helps.

We're also staying a the Marriott and taking the Disney shuttle to the ship. It seemed like the easiest way to do it!

Thanks, the information about the hotel and Disney transportation. My search on the DCL website did not successfully find the transportation information. Now to influence my DH. He is currently, between jobs, and the biggest issue would be if he would not be able to get the time off with the new employer.

You got it! We can figure out later when you want to pick it up. I will cut it for you so all you will need is the magnets. I think I am planning on making 2" diameter ornaments

OE it is!

Does day 7 (sea day) work for everyone? Any special time? I was thinking around 2 o'clock. If people don't mind, could you please PM me with the number of people attending, that way I know a general group size to figure out a place to host it (I'm sure my inside cabin won't do :rotfl2:) Remember each person attending needs to bring an ornament.

DVCinderella-anyway you can add this to the special events post #79? Thanks!

The Ornament Exchange has been added to Post 79 (Page 6). PM me if there is any other information you would like me to add.

The roll call in Post 77 (Page 6) has been updated. Since the last update on June 1st, we have added another 10 Disboard members and their families!

We are now up to the following totals:

46 - Disboard members
152 - Cruisers

I have also updated the PC certificates list in Post 79 (Page 6). We have 24 members participating for an approximate total of 53 certificates. As a reminder, I will be confirming names and quantities as we get closer.

Yay, within 6 months! we can see the sun on the horizon! Has anyone started an e-mail list for the kids to get to know each other ( or for us to type out for them)? My DS (8) would live to meet a few friends before we get on the ship!

Welcome back Julie - I was wondering where you were :)

Thanks. We were down in Shenandoah and the in Gatlinburg- doing a lot of "natural", unDisney things (hiking, rafting, etc). Definitely a new experience for four out of six of us.

The brunch is filled up. Just wanted everyone to know.

Can't believe it's six months until we sail. We booked most of the flights yesterday- I still have to book oldest dd's from Atlanta to LA. She has finals that week, which end Friday. Hopefully she'll get finished before that.

Just gave my credit card info for an igt on two cabins. Cruising with me are dh, ds (10), dd (8). First time on DCL! I camped next to the pc while in their air force in 95, but have never been "through it"!

GOOOD Afternoon, Happy Cruisers!

I'm Baaaack! Finished half a pizza box full of pages on my Hawaii scrapbook - so I consider the weekend a success!

I'm leaving at 2:30 for the same reason - love those non stops. PM if you want to be included in the count for SAS shuttle on Sunday.

Disney offers trasnport from the airport And Disneyland hotels. If there are several of you, a private shuttle is likely less. I got the recommendation of Karmel Shuttle from the Dis Disneyland board a few years ago, and have used them successfully half a dozen times in the last couple years.

On the Mexican Riviera cruise in December, it was breezy and cool on the pool deck. People still swam; many were wrapped in blankets lying in the loungers. :) I didn't swim in the pools, so I can't share what the water temp was like, although the hot tub was divine! In the ports of Cabo & Puerto Vallarta, it was beautiful weather! We swam and rented a jet ski in Cabo. I imagine the further south we venture, the warmer it will be on deck of the ship.

Until Cabo, you are right - it can be pretty chilly! I know I'll have warm clothes - if only because I'm leaving from a cold airport -Albany, NY!

Thought some folks might like to see a few old photos of the Canal. We found these when we were closing Fort Clayton for the turn over of the Panama Canal in 1999.

Thank you for posting those! One of my girlfriend's family was stationed there back then.

Happy Sunday, all!

We flew into LAX and took Karmel Shuttle to the Crowne Plaza, which is in San Pedro at the port. The hotel provided free shuttle to the port. Incidentally, we booked the Crowne Plaza through Priceline for around $82 (2 people).
