I'm not greedy--I would even settle for an OGT! I'm still happy with my inside room and won't change it unless either OGT or VGT are released!

Beth
I would also be fine with an inside cabin, but DD has her heart set on another verandah....not that she'll turn down whatever we book! It would be nice to have a view from the cabin, though.

Thanks for the warm welcome and joining me in keeping the faith! The first cancellation was to care for an ailing MiL and the second my DH was diagnosed with cancer. Getting ready to celebrate 4 years free, it was discovered that he had cancer again, though not related to the first. Docs are confident they are curing it again so the "proper" mom who wouldn't have considered pulling my then 8th grader for 2 weeks has decided CARPE DIEM!!!:goodvibes

Just remember when waiting for the GT staterooms to come out that you cannot transfer an onboard booking and get an additional 10% off. I don't believe that the OBC transfers either...haven't gotten the same answer from DCL on that one. LOL

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's cancer. :grouphug: Personally, I believe that you ARE being a proper mom by pulling your dd from school to make special memories together on this cruise! I'm glad you are "seizing the day!" :cheer2: May it be glorious! :)

Instead of booking the IGT, I booked the 11C GTY because I wanted to keep our 10% off and our OBC ($200 from Disney + $100 from TA). After doing the math, the GTY ended up being about the same price as the IGT without all the restrictions.

We didn't have anonboard booking for this one. We're considering re-shopping while we're onboard in June. The price hasn't gone up yet, and it's WAY lower than what we originally booked before the two prrice drops, so we may be able to come out a little bit ahead and grab some OBC too!

Wouldn't that be nice if you can rebook on board...it would be like Disney paying you to go:lmao: What a nice situation to be in!

Packing for 2 weeks is crazy! I am now done packing for 15 glorious nights aboard the Wonder setting sail to Hawaii this Sunday!!! The best part, kid free! So packing for one person for 2 weeks is crazy, what am I going to do when it is the kids and I on this 2 week cruise??? :scared1:

Hi everyone...

I am just caught up on about 10 pages of posts. Work/life has been very busy, and I haven't been able to logon as often as I'd like. I just want to let everyone know that I have updated our roll call (Page 6 - Post 77). I added 12 new parties to our group! Welcome to all! Please everyone take a moment to make sure that the information is accurate. If there is anything you want changed, just let me know.

I have also updated the PC Certificates list in Post 79 based on posts and PM's. Again, please double-check the list. This is not a final list. As we get closer, I will ask everyone to confirm their order (quantity, names & spelling).

Welcome again to our newest members!

So sorry to hear about the medical issues . Absolutely make those memories...is the school cooperative?

Last year, we were booked in an inside cabin on the WBTA (a year in advance with a previous onboard res.), but the VGT they offered was only a minimal amt. above the rate we were already paying. We gave up the 10% and the OBC and rebooked through an agent, who gave us even more of an OBC. Much to my surprise, DCL gave us our original OBC, too (don't know if this was a mistake, but it was much appreciated!) And the verandah was awesome! My DM and niece decided to accompany us after the GT rates came out, so I booked an OGT for them. The restrictions made me nervous, but the savings were worth it. That was the first time I ever bought trip insurance ::yes::.

I was on the Fantasy last week and discussed all the options regarding onboard booking. If you choose IGT/OGT/VGT or KSF or FLR or any other discounted offer you do not get an additional 10% off the price but YOU DO GET THE OBC based on you CC level.

My example and choice was to take the Verandah at $7300 including 10% off with $275 obc, or to go IGT for $4500 with $275 obc.

My TA also gives me 10% of the cruise rate as an obc. So I could go with the verandah and received about $875 in obc or IGT with about $525 in obc. Sounds like a lot but that really only covers the tips.

But wait, there's more..........We have a 25% off coupon (because of problems we had on the 2010 Magic Christmas Cruise) and can apply it to any "non-dicounted" sailing cruise only portion. So we booked the veranday at $7300 ($6500 cruise, $800 taxes) and receive an additonal $1625 off, so a total of about $5675 for 4 of us in a 5C on deck 6. In this situation I will get $275 obc from DCL and about $450 from my TA for a total $725 obc.

So this is my choice IGT for $4500 with $525 obc or 5C verandah for $5675 with $725 obc. I wonder how much an upgrade at port would be from an inside to a verandah? I think the only way I could do better is if DCL offers a VGT for somewhere in the $5000 range but I can't see that happening.

We had originally planned to go to Hawaii in October and have a reservation on the MAY EBPC but I don't see a better value for doing something that I have always wanted to do, cruise through the PC. We can only pick one.

I would definitely choose the verandah, with the increased OBC, the view (for not that much more money) and the ability to make changes if needed. Generally, DCL won't upgrade restricted cabins....but no one quite knows for sure if they make exceptions! :confused3 You would be taking your chances; I'd only book a GT if I would be completely satisfied with that category. But that's just me....:goodvibes

Let us know what you decide!

Sorry, I just can't have much sympathy for you right now:) How I would love to be packing for the Hawaii cruise right now! I would love to hear about it once you are back! Have a great time.

Christina...since you will be on the Wonder, could you do me a favor and see if there is still a head server on board whose name is Witt Tuncharoen? He was our head server when we did the MR last Feb and we loved him...1st head server we have ever gotten to know. We would love to request his rotation if he is still there! And if Terry Couch is a server still on board, he is great as well if you get him! Thanks, Deanna

FYI for anyone who needs it, if you book a GTY, which are currently available in 11C category on the PCC, then you still get the 10% discount and the onboard credit. GTY is a standard room reservation so you do not have the restrictions of IGT/OGT/VGT, which means you can make changes to it and you have the normal pay in full date that other categories have.

I used my OBC and 10% discount to book a GTY (11C) and it ended up costing $75 more than a IGT, BUT I don't have any restrictions on the reservation like I would with an IGT.

If I did the math correctly, :) there is about $1000 difference between IGT and 5C verandah, so you'll have to decide if the increased $$ is worth it for you personally as you alone know your financial situation. :)

Did you try booking the 11C GTY category instead of the IGT because you can apply your 10% and your OBC. In GTY you are guaranteed an inside room, but you can be upgraded plus it is a standard reservation without the restrictions so you can make changes later on if a VGT opens up. With an IGT, it is my understanding that it is almost guaranteed that you WILL get an inside cabin since it is the cheapest category of cabins.

Hi everyone! We just booked this cruise today. It will be me, DW (Lisa), DH (Geoff), DD6 (Emma), DS4 (Logan). This will be our 7th Disney cruise. We did do the WBTA back in 2010. So, looking forward to another longer cruise. We'd love to join the FE exchange and whatever else is going on. I'll go back and start reading the hundreds of pages you've already written. :)

Also, our TA said there is a waitlist for anyone who is interested in flying out of FLL. So, if Disney gets enough people interested they'll do buses there as well. So, make sure you sign up for the waitlist if anyone is interested!

Lisa

:welcome:

We will fly out of FLL if we book with Southwest. How do you sign up for the Disney waitlist you mentioned?

:yay: welcome -

We are thinking of flying out of FLL as well - I'd be interested in the waitlist as well!

We are flying out of FLL on Jetblue...already bought the tickets:thumbsup2. I am looking into a shuttle but depending on Disney's price, I may sign up for their transport...it will probably be a lot more based on their prices from Port Canaveral to MCO. I wonder when they would tell us the price? And I am assuming we would have to have our TA put us on the waitlist??

I finally read through all 26 pages! We would like 1 certificate. Also, is there still room for the Palo brunch? If not, that's ok. I signed up for the FE Exchange. So, think I signed up for everything!

I would contact your TA or DCL to be put on the waitlist. Here is what she told me "At this time, DCL is not offering transfers to FLL. However, they have placed your name on a waitlist and should they have enough guests that need transfers to FLL, it’s possible that they might offer it. DCL will notify us if the transfers to FLL become available." She said the cost is $30 a person one way or $50 a person roundtrip. So, we hope they do it. This way we wouldn't need our carseats.

Lastly, we did the MR cruise in February. The cruise ship robbery happened the day before we left. We were planning on doing a DCL excursion but decided not to after this incident. Just didn't want to take a chance with our two small children (age 3 and 5 at the time) We did get off the ship and walk to Walmart to get some things and then walk around the little shops right next to the boat. We were totally safe doing that. Even had both kids in strollers. In Cabo we went to the beach that you can see from the ship. It was awesome! Except it was annoying having someone try and sell us something every 3-4 minutes. We stayed 2-3 hrs and then left. Hope this helps! We were worried about everything too, but think we made the right decisions for our family.

Welcome! My ds is also named Logan and he will be 4 on the cruise! So funny. Hopefully they get enough people for the shuttle because we do not want to bring our cars eats either!
