I just started reading one of the free kindle books on the Panama Canal but wanted a quick overview first. I found a quick overview on Wikipedia. I know Wikipedia facts can be iffy sometimes but it was a quick and easy read and very interesting. Who knew the French tried to dig the Canal first?

Thank you for the information! That was helpful! We just did a seven day on Fantasy and was curious about what themes. I would Also think there would be some Christmas stuff too. Hopefully crafts!

They will have gingerbread house making that I am really looking forward to. We sailed during Thanksgiving last year and I was so bummed that they were not starting the gingerbread houses until the following week. My kids always have fun making these and this time I won't have to fear waking up to ants on the house like I always do here at home! :thumbsup2

We booked 2 IGT's on the 4th. Have joined the Facebook page but was reading the thread before I said hi which took a few days.
I am Colette, mum to 3ds Billy(14), Jayden(12) and Keegan(5). I will also be travelling with my parent Bill and Kath. This will be our 9th Disney cruise, one other on Wonder and rest on Magic. We would love to try the newer boats but prefer longer cruises.
Will be sending PM's to join FE and for certificates shortly. I also homeschool my DS Billy but the ither 2 are in school. I have no problems taking them out of school for this or other trips as they learn so much that can't be taught in a classroom.
We are flying out on the 5th Dec and visiting DL for the 1st time and Keegan can't wait to check out Carsland

I'd be in for the tiara. To be entirely honest, I don't own a ball gown-- that's sooooo not me LOL!!! I do clean up well, however, and can manage your average formal wear with a certain amount of effort. Jim will be renting a tux, he says it makes him look like James Bond, so I guess we'd be infor grown up Prince and Princess night! Ddo I have to act like a grown up?

Beth

I could wear my prom dress! I was recently dared to wear it to my friend 's wedding and I was shocked when it zipped! The only issue with it and other ball gowns it that they take up a lot of space. I have a few formal dresses that aren't so puffy so I will most likely pack them..DH will be packing his tux.

Both of these sound good to me. I think the important part of any princess ensemble is the tiara, after all! :rotfl:

I'll also probably be bringing more straight line type formal dresses. They make much more sense for the packing issue and I already have a couple of them, so no need to go out and spend money!

And Beth, Jim is right... he looks good in a tux!

Thanks, Julie! I'll tell him you said that. He actually enjoys wearing one. I'm thinking about making a nice Christmas tie and cummerbund for him to wear one night. We really want some nice pictures of the two of us, since we're celebrating our 40th anniversary with this cruise!

Neat! Do they do a big gingerbread house like all the hotels at WDW?

Yes they do! They had it up for our Thanksgiving cruise. It smelled heavenly walking by it!

I plan on having a good time on this cruise myself , so acting like a grown up is optional. You are only as old as you think anyway. :cool1:

We are celebrating our 39th Anniversay early with this cruise. It doesn't come till Groundhog Day, but the little critter already gets all of the attention then anyway.

Yea! What great pictures! Thank you for telling me. We always love seeing all the gingerbread houses at the hotels atWdw. We have never done a holiday time cruise and can't wait to see all the decorations!

Hi everyone. I am working on my FE gifts. Last cruise I embroidered pirate mickey T shirts for all the kids/babies in the FE group and I am going to try and do that again for our cruise. So, if you are signed up to do the FE exchange and you have a kid participating can you PM with your dis name and the size T-Shirt your child will be wearing in Dec. I also posted this on our facebook site so hopefully I will hear from everyone eventually! I know there are a lot of kids participating so I am trying to start early! Below is a picture of some that I made last time. I may/may not do the same thing!

I totally agree with this. Its the Panama Canal! :teacher: That is totally an experience that you just can't get in the classroom.

Tiara on standby. Gotta find a pink boa to join the Champagne Girls.

Those are awesome! Not sure what age you are going up to with these but my (tall) 5 year old would be 7/8 years and my other 2 ages 14/12 would be roughly mens small/medium if they are included in this

Wow - lots of anniversary celebrations on this trip - we will be celebrating our 24th on Oct 22nd - I actually get a double dip - we will be celebrating on the Magic in September than again on the Wonder in December.

We might have to arrange a meet for all the celebrations!

For the FE group my daughter is 8 and would be in a ladies small. This is sooo exciting. I'm starting to plan for what we will be doing.

:tigger: FE EXCHANGE - Update :tigger:

Just a quick reminder to those already signed up to check the online spreadsheet for updates. We are up to 38 cabins.

If you are interested in joining us, the information on how to sign up is on page one.

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Another hot one predicted here in upstate New York!

Got a pm this morning from one of my cruisemates from the 2011 WBTA - she and her daughter might come - that would be another 5 year old :) I will be SO excited if they do.

Spliffy, those Shirts are SO CUTE! What a FABULOUS FE gift!:thumbsup2

Not much happening here - too hot to work outside and everything is drying up from lack of recent rains. :sad2:

I think I'll de-wheat my pantry today. Oddly enough, i'm not even tempted by it, any more.

And the scales rewarded me with -1.5 pounds this morning. Amazing how a little machine has the power to make me sad or make me smile:rolleyes:

Who is having a summer vacation? :beach: Where are you going?

Happy Day, Everyone!

Traveling is something our family loves!

We are prepping to leave Friday for a week on Edisto Island. It is a reunion for our China Travel group. When we adopted our daughter there were 6 families from all over the country that traveled together. The girls are all within 6 months of each other agewise and were in the same orphanage. It is so cool to get them together. So there will be 4 families at the beach together in 2 beach houses.

Then in August we head to Long Beach Island for a week. Last month we did our first Disney Cruise, 5 days on the Magic to Canada.
After our week at LBI we are staying home until December.
