EBPC December 9, 2012!!! Who's in????

Good Morning! All of these tickers saying 155 days are freaking me out. Only 155 days! I can't possibly get everything done!

I am kind of stalled in my planning...the car service/car seat issue is both boring and scaring me. I'm afraid that it's all going to fall apart in FL, but maybe I will make some calls today.

So, I'm thinking about excursions. As I mentioned a long, long time ago, I'm trying to make up for the lack of stop in CC by going to the beach in Mexico. But not Costa Maya, since we definitely want to do the ruins tour there.

That leaves Cabo or PV. Google reveals the following information: Some say the beaches in PV are not very nice (pebbles/rocks, debris, doggie doo-doo) and that Cabo is better. But I've also read that it will be warmer in PV than in Cabo in December. Looking up average temps, it's not a huge difference. Also, I think we can just forget about it being tropical feeling in December.

What are you all thinking about going to the beach in either or both of these ports?

It's funny how people are different. When I look at 155 days it seems like an eternity to me. In fact, we've never been booked on a cruise this early so I won't really kick in to serious planning until at least September. :)

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Another hot one predicted here in upstate New York!

Got a pm this morning from one of my cruisemates from the 2011 WBTA - she and her daughter might come - that would be another 5 year old :) I will be SO excited if they do.

Spliffy, those Shirts are SO CUTE! What a FABULOUS FE gift!:thumbsup2

Not much happening here - too hot to work outside and everything is drying up from lack of recent rains. :sad2:

I think I'll de-wheat my pantry today. Oddly enough, i'm not even tempted by it, any more.

And the scales rewarded me with -1.5 pounds this morning. Amazing how a little machine has the power to make me sad or make me smile:rolleyes:

Who is having a summer vacation? :beach: Where are you going?

Happy Day, Everyone!

Yes it is so crazy how a little machine can start your day off with a high or make you feel a little down. This morning, I'm on a little high! I'm so proud of myself because I bought an elliptical just over 3 weeks ago and much to my amazement, I have used it everyday since! I tried the elliptical for the first time while on the Hawaii cruise and really enjoyed it. I never work out and use to have a treadmill that just collected a lot of dust. I find the elliptical to be a little fun!

I need to start thinking about my FE gifts for my Dream cruise next month before I can start on them for this cruise. We'll be spending 6 days at WDW before our 5 night on the Dream. After spending 15 nights on the Hawaii cruise, I am sure 5 nights is going to fly by, especially since there will be so much for me to see since it will be my first time on the Dream. I can't be too sad when getting off though since I just booked the Sept 23 CA Coast cruise yesterday!! It will just be dd and I since the boys cannot miss school since I am pulling them for 2 weeks for this cruise. The CA Coast cruises are not selling that well so I was keeping an eye out for a VGT deal and it popped up yesterday. We will be celebrating dd's 5th birthday. I'm sure going to miss the Wonder being here on the west coast!

Another morning at the gym - 5K on the treadmill followed by a one hour aqua fit class. Only 27 lbs. to go.

At this point, not much planned for the summer. We may end up in Quebec for a long weekend to watch the Ironman race. If "the family" can get our act together, we will have a gathering in New Jersey in August. And then the big good byes to my daughter who is moving to Egypt for a year to teach. As the days get closer, reality hits. I will truly miss her. She may come home for Christmas, and meet us in Miami and visit our Florida relatives, and then back to Canada for the rest of her time off.

I agree with Jeff, I will not be planning much for this trip until the fall. I guess I should start thinking of FE.

We are headed to Disneyland on July 22. We are taking two of our kids and 5 of the grandkids. The oldest are only 5, so we opted to stay at Grand Califorian so that we can run back quickly when it's nap time. We have not been to Disneyland since 1984, so it will be so different. Cant't wait.

Happy Day, Everyone!

It's a hot day here in New Jersey, too. The temperature has gone down to 97 degrees. They're predicting severe thunderstorms for later on today, and right now it looks like they may be right. The sky is getting that funny color that comes a few hours before bad weather. I haven't left my apartment all day, and don't plan to!

A former cruisemate of mine from our Dec. 2007 Eastbound Caribbean cruise is joining us (hi, Julie!). It's fun to see people from past cruises! We're already planning a reunion next month for the people I cruised with to Canada last month! Sometimes a cruise group just comes together so well!

No summer vacation for us...we live about three blocks from the beach, so we don't need to go anywhere. That's why we usually take our vacations in December. We took the Canada cruise last month because you can't cruise to Canada from New York in December:cool2: and we're taking the Eastbound Transatlantic in May because that's when it's going! So I'll celebrate my anniversary on this cruise and my birthday on the next one. That's not a bad way to celebrate, is it?

Beth

School Supplies - hopefully someone can help - I think I remember reading somewhere about bringng school supplies for the local children at one (or more) of our ports. I'm thinking it was Costa Maya, when we tour the ruins and visit with the locals, but I'm not sure. They are starting to put out the back to school supplies and always have great deals, but I'm not sure what to get - any ideas or suggestions - and what do I do with the supplies once on the island :confused3

:wave2: It made deciding to go solo on this one easier knowing that there would be a couple of familiar faces and someone to sit with at dinner! This will be my first time cruising solo, so I'm not sure what to expect, but I'm looking forward to it.

I finished my FE last night! I'm kind of proud of how it came out. But right after I finished it, I was sitting at the laptop to upload a picture to post over on the FE thread on the cruise board when I heard what sounded like a really loud gunshot and then, 5 seconds later, all the power went out. Seems that the transformer up the road blew out and everyone on our street is without power now. The biggest problems with this is that so many people are still without power from last week's storm that crews are already overworked and the fact that it's currently 99F outside right now. So, I'm at Starbucks, charging my cell phone and laptop and reading forums!

So glad I finished the FE before the power went out though. It'd e driving me crazy to know I was only one side stitch away from finishing it and couldn't. :rotfl:

Hi everyone!

It's actually a nice day here in Denver! We got some much needed rain last night. It's suppose to rain all weekend.

We were in Minnesota and Indiana for 3 weeks last month visiting family. Then next week we are going to Disneyland to meet my inlaws for the week. The first week in August we are going to Legoland for our last trip before school starts. Although, we decided to do a trip to Hawaii over Labor Day week. I know it's not a huge deal to take DD out of school since it's just kindergarten. Plus, we start school here the middle of August. Then my mom is watching the kids while me and DH does a quick weekend trip to Napa. It's only 2 nights but without the kids it will be fun! Our last trip will be during her fall break in October to go back to Disneyland. It's sad because we won't be renewing our DL passes since she is in school now.

So, that's all our traveling before the cruise comes!

Sorry to hear about your power problems. We ha e power but we're expecting big storms later tonight and most likely will lose power. The temperature has gone all the way down to 90 degrees. I think I'll go look for my winter coat LOL!!!

Beautiful day today. Spent the day in the pool and my daughter made tacos for dinner! Great family day!!

I remember reading about an organized tour that went to a school, but not lately. I've tried to take things ashore to give away twice and been denied - once to grand Cayman after Hurricane Ivan and once recently at Ensenada. I suggest that you not expect any help from Disney.

Glad you finished your FE! Several traveling solo cruisers - you won't be lonely. GLAD I have a generator that kicks on within 15 seconds of a power outage!

74 here. I can hardly believe it! No rain yet, though.

My question is why exclude the men? :snooty:

Can we all just drink together? :drinking1 :cool1:

Oh, and welcome to all the new cruisers! :grouphug:pixiedust:

There are some things men should avoid, such as events involving wearing pink clothes, boa and a tiara. Surely, we can come up with some manly event for the EBPC Disboard Men, especially during the peak of NFL season.

My DH and I are dieting. We are going by weight watchers portions and recipes and some of the Biggest Loser recipes. So far since January of this year, I have lost 36 lbs. We are also walking about a mile a day. So it seems to be working. We have been staying away from white potatoes and pastas and using wheat instead, but sparingly. ( portions on pasta aren't very filing) With you keeping away from wheat, that should be pretty easy. It has helped my cholesterol numbers greatly and I feel a lot better.

Hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th.

Linda

Good job, and congratulations on losing all that FAT. We always use our cruise as motivation to lose weight, get in shape and look GOOD in the hot tub. Keep up the good work!:thumbsup2

My girls scout troop is going to Savannah, GA next week, the girls are doing Jr Life Guards here in Huntington Beach for 3 weeks when we get back and we have a few river trips planned. (All of this in between our soccer camps and tournaments) As excited as we are for December, I keep telling the girls to be careful and not wish their summer away. :beach: December 9th will get here soon enough. We had a great 4th of July (with Disneyland being so close, we get to see fireworks all summer long) and we couldn't ask for nicer weather. Temperatures in the high 70's / low 80's and a slight ocean breeze. Life is good!

An update on our plans: We're inching forward slowly. Our big hurdle is obtaining US passports for our foreign-born children. Actually, I'm guessing this will go smoothly, but I'm a bit of a worrier :worried:. I'm going to take the kids to get their photos taken on Monday, and DH will call the passport office to make an appointment and gather all the needed documents. Hopefully the applications will be in the mail sometime this week. We're going to expedite them, just to make sure that we have them in hand before the final cruise payment is due.

We haven't made our reservations yet, but I've begun shopping. I actually got a bunch of deals for the girls today on the clearance racks at Macys :cheer2:. Some really cute things for $3 apiece! I suppose if we don't go, they can still wear them, but I'm intending them to be cruisewear. I'm telling myself that if I don't buy things now, I'll lose my chance -- the summer styles are already leaving the shelves.
