The ship changes the time sometime in the middle of the night. A card is left on your bed at night reminding you to change your clocks before you go to bed. It is also printed on the Navigator that you get the night before. There were three time changes.

I know that we'll receive a reminder in the Navigators to turn our clocks ahead before going to bed, but can you tell me on which evening (Day 2, 3, etc) we turn our clocks ahead to MST? Which evening do we switch to CST and to EST? Are we on CST for the majority of the cruise? Thanks!

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Americans, REMEMBER TO VOTE!

The Path Between The Seas

I just finished the book last night! The middle had a few slow sections but I found the end of the build sucked my attention back in. Overall very very well written and it makes me that much more excited to see the marvel with my own eyes. Still in shock and awe just how much personal drama, deaths and years went into planning, digging, and building the canal.

It was something, wasn't it? That was a book I only needed to read once, though, before last year's PC. This year, I refreshed my memory with the Cliff Notes version in the front of the PC by cruise ship book. It was a LOT shorter!:rotfl2:

I looked through my scrapbook but apparently didn't take good notes. One Nav did say we stayed on ships time in Aruba. Hopefully someone's memory is better than mine! Guessing that we will switch to Eastern on the sea day between Costa Maya and Miami.

This is good! I didn't realize that you could get the movie list ahead of time. We were the first to see Frankenweenie at sea before the release date on the DVC member cruise. I can always see the Avengers anytime it comes on, but looking forward to TImothy Green and Lincoln. haven't heard of Secret of the Wings. Need to look that trailer up.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Unless you have one or more DDs under 10, you'll have no interest. :lmao:

I have some possibly dumb questions...

If a movie is listed as 3D, can one just go watch it without the glasses and see it in 2D? DS loves certain movies, but has never been in a theater (because of the noise sensitivity). I'm hoping a set of special headphones can help him on the cruise, but 3D might be a bit much.

And, does The Muppets mean the original Muppet movie from 20 or 30 years ago?
The Muppets movie is not the original movie from 20 or 30 years ago but a very good remake of about 1-2 years ago.

Thought of the day: On the one hand, I am glad this is a family vacation for us and I can't wait to see how the kids respond to the fun things on the ship. On the other hand, I'm a bit jealous of those of you traveling just as couples. And, I am perhaps even more jealous of those traveling completely solo! Mommy clearly needs a break. I keep reminding myself that, no matter what else happens, I do not have to cook or clean up from a meal for an entire 14 days. That alone is a morale boost.

Speaking of meals...I put a post on the main boards about pureed foods for the baby. I've read everything from "bring it all yourself" to "you don't need to bring anything, the servers will bring what you need". So, we'll see!

For DS, who is 3 1/2, I don't think I need anything, except....

Does the dining room offer plastic or kid-friendly cups? What about kid-sized forks and spoons? And for snacks, do the buffets have small boxes of cereal that don't have too much sugar? (Honeynut Cheerios is as sweet as we go.) If so, I can probably just pack one box of his special snacks, in case of melt-down, but otherwise go with the cereals onboard. Is there anything else I might need for his meals?

I can't believe it's almost a month away. I want to get a playlist together for our drive to the airport. So far I have "Under the Sea" as a good song choice. What are some other Disney songs that would be fun?

Hakuna Matata! Or, aactually anything from The Lion King. Be Our Guest is always fun. Friend Like Me. Everybody Wants To Be A Cat. The Bare Necessities. And now I will stop ;)

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: This is ME! We were talking about the cruise the other day, what we were looking forward to most. We went around the dinner table, Pirates, Princess Tea, Gingerbread House Decor, Mixology/Tastings, pool time, Funnelvision. It was my turn, and DD4 says, "I know what you're looking forward to - not having make all our meals and clean up afterwards". She was dead serious!!! :)

We are cruising w/o kids or grand-kids. While we have done the occasional weekend away, 14 days and outside the US is a first since 1976 (on our honeymoon). Looking forward to every blasted minute of the cruise.

As far as traveling music, you must have something with a pirate theme. Arrrrr!

I am jealous of those of you traveling with kids. This is our first Disney cruise without the kids. Hard to imagine cruising without them. I do look forward to quality time w hubby but I know my mom and boys will be calling everyday due to homework stuff. And with the changing time zones?! Sigh. Nevertheless, we'll make the best of it I'm sure. Lol

BINGO! THAT's why I'm flying solo. I have only the spouse, but he is high maintnance. Dump the kid in the club and come hang out with me.

It's vacation - don't worry about his food - a little extra sugar on the cereal will be a pittance compared with mickey bars, chocolate chip cookies and soft serve. They'll give him his beverage in a plastic cup with a lid and a straw. I don't know about a kid size fork and spoon, but when we took my grands they managed just fine with what was available. The server or his assistant will cut their food for them, make them ketchup mickey's and in general spoil them rotten, while you get to relax.

For the baby, if it's an infant, I'd bring baby food and lots of it. Our first experience sitting with disboard friends included a baby of about 8-10 months. HE ate EVERYthing she brought for him PLUS a huge plate of watermelon ever night (put in one of the mesh things they can suck) AND mashed anything she'd let him have. I guess the sea air makes them extra hungry.:rotfl2:

See if this helps. The three time changes on the WBPC were:

Between Panama Canal Day and Day At Sea on our way to Puntarenas.
Between Puerta Vallarta and Cabo.
Between Cabo and Day At Sea on our way to Los Angeles.

Just checked times in all our cities and looks like we will have five time changes going Eastbound. The changes are:

Los Angeles is an hour behind Cabo.
Cabo is an hour behind Puerta Vallarta.
Puerta Vallarta is an hour behind Panama and Cartegena.
Cartegena is an hour AHEAD of Costa Maya.
Costa Maya is an hour behind Miami.

I know this doesn't give you the exact day of the change but I would guess between Day At Sea and Cabo, Cabo and Puerta Vallarta, Day At Sea and Panama Canal, Cartegena and Costa Maya, and Costa Maya and Miami.

That's my best guess, but remember....I'm on drugs....hahaha. Hope this helps.

Judy

Jeff,

Any chance you would have time to put people's cabin numbers on the Roll Call list. I know it's a lot of work and with the IGTs getting there's at the last minute and all, but it would be of great help. If you don't have time I completely understand. You have done so much already and it is GREATLY appreciated.

I feel like I need to put on my logic puzzle cap for this cruise!!!:worried:

I don't believe we change time in sync with the actual time zones. I do know that ships time is in sync with port time.

Not a problem. Will be happy to do that for anyone that doesn't mind sharing. There are a few on there already. Some people are a bit paranoid about that but that's fine too.

Our friends got Be Our Guest ressies for November 18th so DH and I decided (mostly I decided) that we should fly down and join them for dinner! So excited to see the new fantasyland. Since DH planned a party for the 17th, so we will fly out early morning on the 18th. DH will fly back to PHL on the 19th and I will fly to PIT for work on early on the 20th where we will be spending Thanksgivng! We just couldn't wait to see the mouse till December. Can't wait to see my friends, even if they are flying to PA for their baby shower on the 20th.

We got to see the updates to Fantasyland during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party on 10/28. We rode the new Ariel attraction too.

We are first time cruisers too. I'm bringing the Natural Jif-to-Go cups for excursions, small packages of plain pretzels (the mini baggies that were sold for Halloween), Go-go squeeze applesauce pouches (two ingredients, apples and cinnamon) and some small trail mix packets. We have DD4, who will eat anything - she's thrilled she can have a shrimp cocktail! - and DD7, who is super picky. She loves fruit, but I have the snacks since I've heard we cannot take fruit off the ship.
