I really want to go see The Help. Hopefully I can squeeze that in bweteen all the newer movies I know the kids will want to see. Then again, I wanted t see The Help while I was on the Hawaii cruise with no kids and yet I still didn't find time to watch it!

I called DCL to see what movies were playing on our cruise - no Secret of the Wings! :( I wonder if they will have it on Funnelvision, and the list is only the movies playing in the ship's theatre? Anyway, here's the listing they gave:

Pirates of the Caribbean - On Stranger Tides
Cars 2 3D
The Help
The Muppets
John Carter 3D
Chimpanzee
Avengers
Brave 3D
People Like Us
Odd Life of Timothy Green
Frankenweenie
Wreck-it-Ralph
Lincoln
and possibly Monsters Inc. 3D (it's released December 19th)

Oooh Brave is still playing! It's the only Pixar movie I haven't seen in a theatre. I kept missing it on my recent cruise too.

Looks like I'll be watching a few movies myself. I've managed to miss all of these except People Like us, Timothy Green and Frankenweenie. And I really hope Monsters Inc plays!

It is definitely not shorts weather here near SF either. I pulled out the long pants for DS and couldn't believe how many were "floods" that he just wore 4 months ago. Good thing he has older twin cousins, so we have tons to work through. Now to go through the shorts and shirts and force him to try them on to see which still fit and are in decent shape for the trip. Then I can start filling the guest room with clothes, FE gifts and misc supplies.
Summer is still fighting to stay here in SoCal. Was at DL yesterday and it was in the upper 80's and sunny all day. Once the sun went down, so did the temps. Both parks were very crowded. According to the MouseWait app, the crowd index for DCA was 100/100.

Wish I was in SoCal! Here is about 60, but in two days I will be back in the UK and have a max of 45ish. :(

Wow, you guys have been chatty. I have been trying to keep up on my phone when I can.

So excited the election is tomorrow! No more wasted paper, annoying ads and phone calls! I am quite stong in my beliefs and so is my boss, except opposite sides! anyway she thought it would be funny to donate to her candiate under my name and made it 10x worse. To top it off, somehow I am registered to vote in two states (one being a swing state) under two differant last names but same #, which means double the phone calls! I am at my breaking point. I am hoping to head home tonight so I can do my civic duty tomorrow morning and head back out after.

Adnil530 Happy belated Anniversary

Tessa67 My sister is a single mom with DS 9 and DD 6.

Beth Glad someone heard from her. Conditions are not pleasant.

Movie list looks great. I have only seen one movie on it. Kids are dying to see Wreck it Ralph, hoping they can last till the cruise. Don't want to pay $ when they can see it for free!

My sister is driving me nuts! She keep asking me why I think her BF hasn't proposed yet. It is sooo hard to lie to her and to see her upset when I know she shouldn't be! The plan is well underway!

Hope all is well with everyone!

I can see how that would be DOUBLY :furious::furious:annoying but to an on looker? :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: It's a good thing you and your boss have a good relationship!

I have some possibly dumb questions...

If a movie is listed as 3D, can one just go watch it without the glasses and see it in 2D? DS loves certain movies, but has never been in a theater (because of the noise sensitivity). I'm hoping a set of special headphones can help him on the cruise, but 3D might be a bit much.

And, does The Muppets mean the original Muppet movie from 20 or 30 years ago?

I think the movie would be fuzzy around the edges to watch it without the glasses. I think it wouldbe fine but check with google about eye strain or maybe a headache. I had my glasses off for a few minutes during Brave and it did not bother me. Sherry

I tried to catch it on last year's WBTA with no luck (too many competing events), so I'm thrilled it's still onboard. Also happy to see Timothy Green. We never see movies in theaters anymore unless we're on a ship :goodvibes.

We weren't a swing state but suddenly have become popular with the campaigns again. The past week has been awful...completely inundated with negative ads and phone calls, mostly for one candidate. Such a funny boss you have! :confused3 I would NOT be happy if anyone made a donation in my name. My mother and I are also total opposites politically, so I just don't discuss the election with her. Clearly, she's wrong and I'm right, anyway! ;)

Welcome aboard Terri. :welcome:

Have had this cruise booked for a while but just now getting over here to post to the thread.

Hi! :wave2:

I am cruising with my DD5 (Molly) and my mom (Mary).

Was wondering if there were any other single moms with littles who were on this cruise? Would love to meet and hang out!

Terri

On the name cards, the sleeves DCL provides with the Castaway Club lanyards are landscape or portrait...i.e., wider than tall or taller than wide?

Jeff, I hope I understand .... you're asking right? I happen to have one in front of me now. It is landscape. 4" wide and 2 7/8" wide. That is exact so should be just a tad bit smaller to fit without puckering.

If this was not what you were asking, please disregard. :dance3:

Just got back from being in Las Vegas for a week for a trade show...I tried to keep up with all the posts on my phone, but man, it is hard with this group...which is a good thing :). Now I have to really get going and finish the FE gifts. I am just about done with the adults (just have to finish a couple more) and I have about 20 -25 more kids gifts to do. We will be at my parents for the week of Thanksgiving, so I just realized that leaves me two weeks to get these done (want to have them done by Thanksgiving so I am not stressing at the last minute). I also realized I really have to get it in gear and do my Christmas shopping:scared1: My boys are getting harder and harder to shop for. We'll see how that goes.

This is good! I didn't realize that you could get the movie list ahead of time. We were the first to see Frankenweenie at sea before the release date on the DVC member cruise. I can always see the Avengers anytime it comes on, but looking forward to TImothy Green and Lincoln. haven't heard of Secret of the Wings. Need to look that trailer up.

Today I officially hit the half way mark of Path Between the Seas. It will be a close call whether I'll finish the book before we hit the Panama Canal. Has anyone finished it yet? Does it pick up at the end?

The Path Between The Seas

I just finished the book last night! The middle had a few slow sections but I found the end of the build sucked my attention back in. Overall very very well written and it makes me that much more excited to see the marvel with my own eyes. Still in shock and awe just how much personal drama, deaths and years went into planning, digging, and building the canal.
