EBPC December 9, 2012!!! PART 2

I would like to join the walking group in the mornings. I have been too lazy to get to the gym for a while so I wouldn't want to try something new like spinning or running in case I hurt something but I like to walk. DH might want to walk a few times too but knowing him, he will be spending more time on the machines in the exercise room. I think my dad would join a morning walking group because he likes to get a bit of exercise everyday but he'll take his time and just enjoy the view.

Susan and I will be running/walking every sea day at least. We haven't run in almost two years after we did the Disney marathon in 2011. We intended to take a few months off to let some nagging injuries heal but it turned into a few years. :confused3

Come up with a time and I'll put it up on the web site.

Would love to join also. I am already looking for someway to replace my current workout schedule which involves three hours each morning doing cardio and weights and then another 10 miles in the afternoon on my bike. Since I can't bring my bike, running will have to do. Does anyone have any info on the exercise facilities. Never worried about them on previous cruises. Are there any type of weights or is it just the cardio machines? Thanks.

I laid out a tentative plan for the stateroom crawl and uploaded it to Google Docs. We still (as of yet) do not have a Cat. 2, 3, 4 or 7. Since there are only 2 of the 2 bedroom suites (Cat. 2) , those were a long shot. There are only 18 (by my count) Cat. 3 1 bedroom suites so getting those is kind of tough too. Cat. 7s are similar to Cat. 6 and 5 so that's OK. I would have thought out of our large group we'd have someone with a Cat. 4 Deluxe Verandah Family room. :sad1:

You people all sound like my girls. So motivated to get out there and exercise. Not sure where they got it from but I'm starting to feel inspired. For me, I'd love to hang out and walk with the ones that love to socialize. I'm ok with getting lapped that just means that if even for a second, I was in front of you. :rotfl2: I love the idea of keeping a log. It makes me feel good to look back and see what I have accomplished. :cheer2: Keep the inspiration coming!

From the DCL site. There are some photos up on the site as well.

The Fitness Center includes:

Open-air track for walking and jogging, about 1/3 of a mile in length
Weight machines
Spinning machines
Treadmills and Ellipticals
Instructional classes (yoga, Pilates, aerobics)
Personal Training Sessions

OK, so these are the basic FE's. I still have to add the special little touches before they are done. I made more than I thought I would, but my new machine was just so much fun to use! They are free and I have a list of the people who have already asked for one. I will PM everyone today. If you see something you like, send me a PM and I will add you to the list.

You will need to provide your own dowel rod. I dont have any extras. 1/2 inch or smaller and 10 to 11 inches long. Please drill a small hole in each end and bring a small zip tie to secure them to your fish. If you have any problems for questions please feel free to contact me.

Those are GREAT!

The three of us are totally in for the Half Marathon and my DH will be delighted to meet some fellow spin class devotees. He is also hoping for the 8 am class.

Wow, you guys sure now how to make things fun!!!!

OK I'm in for the "turtle pace" 1/2 marathon. Feel free to lap me. The only way I can keep up is if I rent an ecv. (And don't I just get even then!)

I will certainly do my best to upgrade at the port and fill in one of those gaps.

I'm what you call a wogger. I like to jog and then walk when I get tired. My DH keeps up w my snail pace out of pity but I'm sure he'd rather be with the runners elite. I'm not worried about being lapped. Just need the motivation to exercise again.

Linda, your 'turtle pace' will be faster than me. My therapist wants me walking 14 minutes a day and build it up each day....so at a slow pace I will be out there also.

Thank you Jeff, for posting our family picture on the roll call. :flower3:

My pleasure. Anyone else wanting their pic posted on the roll call, just email it to me. Don't worry about the size...it auto-shrinks when I upload it.

On the FE, Blue Water Fisherman was inadvertently put on the Wonder list instead of the Daisy list. That has been corrected. Daisy's...make sure you note the addition. Thanks!

Does anyone know if portable walkie talkies will work on the Ship? My grandson has a set and would like to bring them along. I'm not sure they would work what with all of the steel walls and bulk heads

They'll work in close proximity or further if all parties are outside on the same side of the ship but their power is low so the signal won't penetrate bulkheads. They won't be of much use on the ship.

We'll have Champagne Girls in 7003 at 4 pm on the day of the last formal night. (Thursday 12/20). I'll be dressed up, and others can dress up as well. The only request is you bring a champagne to share (for those who choose to drink). That way we'll have extra, so if anyone forgets his/her champagne there will still be enough for all.

Jeff, can you add the info to the website?

In not as good news, dh is supposed to pack today, but his grandmother is in the hospital. I really hope they figure out what's wrong before we go. It seems like she'll be around forever, but I keep forgetting that she's 94, and has only so long on this earth. He's assured me we'll go no matter what, but I know he'll enjoy himself a lot more if she's safe at home before we depart.

How about 7:30am? I'm hopeful that will give people enough time to run/walk before breakfast or head to the spinning classes. Let's meet at midship on Deck 3 on the port side. If that doesn't work, we can come up with a different time.

Dodg- that's good to me! I had pneumonia in September, and haven't take the time to get back into shape. I still get winded much more easily than I used to.

If we are on the ship and done with lunch, you can count on L&L being there.

I LOVE this idea! So cute!!! DH, my sister and I (and most likely the kids)will be running every morning. We normally aim for 7-7:30am. That way, we get our run in, shower and can make breakfast. I am also a snail while DH is a cheetah . One the first day, DH askes guest services for the time when the bow will be closed due to docking. We then plan around that. There are only 4 port days so I won't be a huge issue and we can adjust the schedule the day before. For those looking to log more miles, we could add a marathon and Ultra! Nephew loves certificates, so maybe I will design one for each category and we can present them on the last day? DH will be working with the nephew on pacing this cruise using the ship like laps on the track. He really misses coaching since UD cut the men's track team....

Certificates would be awesome!! :woohoo:

Not only do they not work well, you don't need em - there's wave phones in the cabins that do work well, and house phones in every elevator lobby to call them with.

Isn't deck 4 the outside walking deck?

Right now, i'm too tired to do anything but DIS.

7:30 works for us.

Correct.
