Is it really going to cost me $100. to make my xbox wireless in order to watch netflix? Is there another solution?

I have heard that there are other companies that make that receiver you need for much less... I don't know it for a fact, though.

It sounds like you have never used your 360 on the net... it is very cool to play against other players on XBOX Live.

Do I also need to get the gold membership? I don't game. This system is my son's who is out of town for a bit. I want to try it to see how I like Netflix online. I'm trying to find the cheapest way to try it out. If I like it I will have to buy my own player in a month or two and then I might go with a blue-ray player.

Have they improved the quality? I tried to watch Netflix on my X-box but the quality was so bad I abandoned the whole thing. Maybe I need to try it again.

My son uses his xbox360 with wireless and experiences no quality issues with netflix movies. Its a great addition to both xbox and netflix!

well ours doesn't have to be wireless to play online with Xbox Live so I'm not sure why the Netflix would require wireless.

All I'm seeing that is required is an Xbox Live Gold subscription and a broadband internet connection.

We have a wireless router but the Xbox is connected via cable and all the computers are connected wirelessly.

No need for wireless.... most people just dont want an ethernet cable being seen in the living room. Before I bought the receiver I was using a 60' cable.

Yes, you MUST have a Gold membership for now, but there are rumors that this may not always be true, now that Sony will be streaming Netflix for free on the PS3.

For those using Netflix via their Xbox 360, they are members of Xbox Live (which costs $50 per year). Adding Netflix is just an added bonus, but I would not recommend someone join Live just for Netflix. If you're not gaming, the Roku would be a better bet. You could also purchase the wiring to have your TV double as a 2nd monitor to your computer. You would then just load the movie via the computer and watch it via the TV. I'd imagine any new HD TV would do the trick, but if you've still got an old TV that you intend to use, I don't know if that would be an option or not.

You don't see a lot of people talking about the costs involved to get the Xbox set up for Live because that's an expense most of us paid long ago. For us, there were no extra costs involved with setting Netflix up to view via that route. It was just a plus/plus kinda deal.

I have a 46" Samsung HD LCD and I get a perfect picture. Perhaps you bought cheap cables? I don't know much about that, but I do know it plays into the mix somehow.

Doesn't every wireless router also come with cables to run it wired? If you can't figure it out, perhaps you can find where you put those cables? Since hubby is a gamer, we keep ours wired for better speed. Since it is a wireless router though, my daughter keeps her computer online without a wire.

I would suggest using a Playstation 3. Netflix streaming is free, wireless is included and its a blu ray player. Get rid of the box and get a PS3.

Since the Xbox belongs to her son, I would highly suggest she not get rid of it. Instead, get a Roku or another Blu-Ray Player if you like Netflix and decide to keep the membership up. It doesn't seem like the OP has any interest in gaming whatsoever.

I just ran across this video for setting your TV up as a 2nd monitor. It's quite interesting, but since no one knows what you have, it's hard to know if it's an option for you. If you think it might be, you can ask any number of tech guys in Best Buy, or other stores. It looks pretty simple if you have a laptop.

Netflix won't be available (for free) on the PS3 until later this year. (Without doing anything illegal or using PlayOn, which is $40 anyway.)
