Has anyone else had this happen????

I logged on to ebay and when I sign in it takes me to a update information page. Name, address, phone, SS#, credit card info, mother's maiden name and then you have to click to agree to their terms.

Is this something new. We closed the browser and started fresh and the same thing.

I know I am paranoid. But better safe then sorry.

It does have the click to verify trust thing but no lock thing at the top.

Thanks

Ebay hasno need for your ss# sounds like you either have some kind of virus or the site was hacked or you mistyped something slightly and got a fake site.

I don't believe ebay would ever ask you for your SS# or your mother's maiden name. That screams scam to me and I would contact ebay and let them know what happened because sadly there will be those who will update what they think is their ebay acct with that info.

I just went to ebay and logged in and didn't get the page you spoke of. Sounds very phishy to me.

Thanks for the info.

I don't know what is happening. I have used my bookmark to get to ebay and typed it in. I didn't enter any information. I will see if I can contact ebay somehow with out logging in.

You probably have a redirecting virus on your PC (it redirects you to their website). Take a look at the URL on your browser. It's probably not quite correct. Run a virus scan on your computer.

I had that happen to me. It's definitely a phishing website.

If the virus scan doesn't solve the problem, try resetting your programs. The virus software didn't solve the problem for me so I called Dell and this is what they told me to do. To do this go to the main menu, select accessories, then system tools then system restore. Choose a date that around the same time as you last used e-bay without the problem. If that was too long ago pick a date a few weeks back. You may have to re-download some updates, but you won't loose any documents or bookmarks that you've added since the date you choose. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. But it's definitely worth a try.

According to the Trust & Safety Board on Ebay, this is a scam.(There's a lot of good info regarding all types of scams on Ebay on that Board. Go to the Ebay site map and look under Marketplace Safety, which is in the column on the right side of the page, about half way down.

There is also an Ebay page specifically about spoof email. If you prefer not to fol;ow my link, just forward the email you received to spoof@ebay.com
They will confirm the validity of the email, and also follow up on it to determine where it came from. You can do the same with Paypal if you ever get an email from them that you think is sketchy.

I will run my AVG Antivirus scan.

If you don't have another Virus scanner I would get another one. Malwarebytes has caught stuff on my computer that AVG missed. Its a free download.
