eBay Question....

I recently purchased a Fossil handbag on eBay. It was listed as being NWT. When it arrived, it had no tags on it whatsoever.

I sent the seller a message, telling her that I'd like a partial refund for the misrepresentation. I told her that I, like most buyers, tend to pay more for items listed as NWT because it assures us that the item has not been used. And although I'm pleased with the condition of my new bag (it looks new), I'm not sure that it hasn't been used before.

She hasn't responded, and it's been 1 week.

Should I go ahead and leave negative or neutral feedback? Or send her another message telling her that I plan on leaving negative or neutral feedback if I don't hear from her by next week? Or should I let it go?

For me, it would all come down to how much I paid for the item and how much I liked it.

If I paid alot, I'd file a claim with Ebay asking for a partial refund for misrepresentation. That gets the sellers attention really quick.

If I didn't pay alot, I'd just go ahead and leave the negative feedback.

Or, it sounds like you're happy with the purse so maybe neutral feedback saying it was "nice but misrepresented as NWT".

However, since it's only been a week and it is vacation season, I'd try contacting the seller one more time and giving maybe another week.

Does it look like it's ever been used? Are you happy with the bag? If you have no problems with it than I would drop it. Remember you bought on ebay, in a way everything is used. The only way to ensure a brand new bag is go straight to the store and pay full price. I wouldn't leave a negative, because you said the item looked new, and I am assuming that it was shipped in a timely manner. I would leave a neutral and explain why.

You seem to be happy with the condition of the bag, save for a slight doubt whether another human being has touched it or used it for a brief period.

I would let it go. Leaving a negative seems extreme.

Going to the store would of course insure a brand new bag, but it doesn't excuse the seller from lieing.

In the case of a handbag, the buyer might have wanted the tags as part of authentication of the bag.

Seems excessive to me to leave negative feedback for a bag you are happy with. I might leave neutral, but that even seems like a bit much, and rather hostile, IMO. I would never expect money back for something like that.

Is their feedback as a seller good? If so, and others haven't commented on these type of issues, I would consider it a mistake on the listing and get over it. At least wait to see if they respond. Do they have any current listings for sale? If not, they could easily be on vacation.

I wasn't condoning the seller lying, what I was saying is I that I don't agree that she should get a partial refund or leave a negative rating if she is genuinely happy with the bag. I believe a neutral rating would be enough.
