I've got something listed that I actually was just going to throw away or give away. They are some Strawberry Shortcake dolls from when I was little. Honestly, they are in very played with condition. I did some research, and I know that one of the animals alone sold for $15. I've had two different people offer me Buy It Nows. One offered me $40 and one offered me $75. is this a sign that they are going to sell for a lot, or do you think I should jump at the $75?

It's against eBay policy to end an auction early and sell to a buyer outside of eBay. eBay loses their final value fee when sellers do this and if caught, you can get suspended from eBay. The chances are very good that these collectors are looking to get a rare piece for next to nothing. Tell them that you appreciate the offer but it is against eBay policy to sell directly to them. Then encourage them to bid on the item and wish them good luck.

Oh, I need to clarify, then. I would not sell outside of ebay! I would sell it as a buy it now. My gut tells me that if they are offering me this money now, that it must be worth something. The only one that I can think is worth anything is the one called Plum Puddin' and it's a party one. Otherwise, from my research the pets go for more than the dolls.

ETA: I just did a little more looking and one similar to the Plum Puddin I have went for $61. That would be the one worth the money. Funny, I remember getting that one as a child and being bummed because it was the party one and not the orginal one. Back then it was hard to find the original.

You would have to change your auction to add the Buy It Now option to it. If there are already bids on the items, I don't think that you can do that. If there have been no bids, you may be able to add Buy It Now but you will have to pay eBay's price for having that option in your auction. I would still take my chances with getting a better price. If someone is willing to pay $75 for the items today, they will be willing to pay at least $75 for it in a week, too.

NOOOOOOO - don't do a thing! You should get a pretty penny for those! :cool1:

I agree, hold out for the auction. They must be worth something if they are offering money now.

Both times I have had people e-mail with an offer asking me to end the listing early... my items have gone for significantly more than the offer.

It's a gamble I guess - but if you were going to toss them or give them away anyhow - might as well let the auction ride and see what happens I would think.

Be sure and check back in to let us know how you made out!
Good Luck

btw, there is an option (within e-bay guidelines) to end the auction early to sell to the highest bidder. I assume you would just have the person enter the amount you both agreed upon, and then as seller you would choose the option to end early.

All right. I'll hold out. They really aren't in that great of condition except for the Plum Puddin one and the pets. My user name is the same as mine here too, if you want to look. (If that's against the rulles to post, feel free to let me know. I'm not posting it to try to get you guys to buy them.) I'll be sure to let you know what they sell for, though. Maybe it will be enough to upgrade to the Contemporary :rotfl:

I have them on my watch list........ :sunny: Good luck!! My Little Pony stuff from back then does well too -

Yes, and it has consistantly been 1/3 of them that are watching it. Of course, I wonder how many of them are you now :)

I'm sure they will go for HUGE amounts, then. Let me sell mine first so I can enjoy my glory before you come over and make my profit look measly :)

Hi, just a tip for the future (and you probably already do this)... whenever you get offers for your items, be sure to check the feedback of the person who is offering. You wouldn't want to accept a "Best Offer" or any other kind of offer from a person with poor feedback. This is one of the few times we have any control over who we sell to. ;)

Good luck with your auctions!

Tink

Hi. I just thought I'd let you all know that my Strawberry Shortcake lot went for $88. I'm thrilled with that. I'm more thrilled with the Hopscotch Doll that I bought for my daughter and she never played with. It sold for $55. It only costs $47 (or so) out of the catalog.
