I was bidding on two items that were offered by the same seller and ended within two days of each other. Last night the first one ended and shortly thereafter I got a message from eBay saying that this seller has been suspended and the other item was withdrawn. I have no idea why this happened and I did send a note to the seller. My question is this, now that this seller is no longer a registered user am I required to pay for the first auction that ended? I was bidding on them both because I wanted them together, now I am not sure what to do. The right thing to do would be to finish the transaction I suppose. What do you think?

Sorry that happened Debbi but, better to be warned before you spend the money.

IMO, don't pay. Do you want to risk doing business with someone who's been suspended?

Hope you find the items again.

I agree! I have been burned too many times by unscrupulous sellers on EBay! If he has been suspended...Run don't walk! And DON'T continue the transaction!

I received an email back from her, she said that she was suspended because she was selling items that were trademarked, can this be true? (She was selling Weight Watchers merchandise). I want to believe her (believe it or not), she is a military wife, she also lives in Italy (about 8 hours away) and her rating over the 3 years she has been selling has been okay. If I back out on the deal that ended, can she leave me negative feedback still if I don't pay? The item I won was only $4, no shipping because it will go from an FPO address to an APO address, so I would rather risk $4 then negative feedback.

There are 21 pages of weight watchers items....why did she get suspended and all the others didn't ??????

I'd question her on that.

You need to ask eBay this question, not the DIS LOL but if she has been suspended, then most likely her account has been cancelled which would not allow her to leave any feedback. Or do any more transactions. She'll have to straighten this out with eBay and most likely re-register and start over.

I agree that you should ask Ebay about this. If they sent you the email saying that she has been suspended, I would think that that is kind of an implied message that you don't need to send payment. (Don't know without seeing the exact wording.)

Also, if there are that many WW items for sale, you DO have to wonder why she was the only one suspended????

in cases like this..ebay's standpoint is that you are no longer liable to complete the auction if the seller has been NARU'D (which means not a registered user..in this case because of suspension)..IF the seller gets reinstated and you choose to complete the auction..you do so at your own risk..and IF the seller DOES get reinstated and attempts to leave you negative feedback over these transactions..this is rules to have negative feedback removed!..
Hope this helps!!

UPDATE

After a lot of thought and consideration, I decided to follow through with the first deal and I even got her to sell me the item that eBay closed on for my last bid price. Under normal circumstances I would not have completed the transaction, however since she is attached to the military and we have many connections where she is stationed (we lived there for 6 years) I decided to take the risk. I figured if she tried to stiff me we could call in some favors since we had her name, her DH's name, unit and address and I am glad I did. I received my package yesterday and everything was as stated in her listings. So it all worked out for the best.

Thank you all for your responses, I did consider what you had to say, but like I said, with the above circumstances I thought a risk was worth taking.
