Ebay Question?? Regarding Snowglobes...

Hi all. I have a semi large snowglobe I want to sell on Ebay. I'm having all manner of problems with this one.

First, I wanted to put a Buy it Now price but I can't find out how much it's worth. Checked everywhere online, and even on Ebay completed auctions. Only one person has had this up for sale and it did not sell. BUT they were asking $65 starting bid as well as the fact that the globe was broken.

It's a Toy Story 1 snowglobe, the one with Buzz & Woody in the RC car with the gang surrounding them, and some blocks at the base and when you press a button on the bottom ,the characters sing You've got a friend in me. Does anyone have any idea how much this one is valued at??? I found some snowglobe price guides online but none that listed this one.

Also, for anyone who has Ebayed snowglobes before, do you think I will get way less for it because I don't have the box? Would you lower a starting bid because of that?

Lastly, how much would be too much to charge for shipping. In the past, I've charged $10 -$11.50 for shipping because that was how much it cost for me to pack and ship it. Is that too much?? Should I eat some of the shipping cost to try and get a higer overall bid?

Thanks for your help!

Sheri

I don't really know how much that snowglobe is worth but I think it is pretty hard to find so you may get quite a bit for it even without the box. I think $11.00 is a fair price for shipping since they are so heavy. You would probablly spend that much getting it from the Disney Store online so I don't think it is too much. Good Luck.

Regarding price, ultimately it doesn't matter what the item is supposedly worth. All that matters is how much you are willing to sell it for. Take into account what you paid for it, your ebay and paypal fees and any other expenses associated with selling it. Decide how much of a profit you would like to make and set your price accordingly.

As for shipping, you should charge whatever it costs you to ship. There is no reason you should take a loss on shipping. On the other hand, I don't believe you should make a profit on shipping either (but that is a huge debate around here). If shipping is $11, then charge $11. If shipping is more, charge more. Buyers don't mind paying actual shipping costs. Its only when you tack on some vague "handling" fee that buyers may complain.
