Ebay purchase of park hoppers?

I've seen some of these on sale on ebay. What's up with this? Are these legit? Are the acceptable at the parks and is there a way to confirm that they're not already used and the person selling them is just selling us their old tickets?

Thanks for your help!

No way to tell until you get to guest services at WDW. I wouldn't want to find out at that time that the tickets weren't any good.

Why take a chance?

I would stay away...too risky...no way to tell upfront if they are used up or not...

If you make a purchase, make sure its from a reputable seller. Someone with at least 95% satisfaction, as well as at least 100 transactions.

And pray that you don't run into an honorable seller that made an honest mistake and forgot the quick trip to Epcot they made just before leaving when the pass was last used 3 years ago.

Even the sellers have no way of verifying the actual content of the pass beyond his / her own memory.

Buying passes from eBay is just inviting trouble...

I have purchased many items on eBay, including WDW meal vouchers and trading pins. I would never buy PHs. Like someone else posted, they could easily mistake a "good" ticket for a used ticket. It happened to us! We thought we had a PLUS feature left on some old tickets and we planned on them for our last trip. When DH and I went to use them for PI, we were told that the tickets were completely expired. We still can't remember using them for anything. So, even an honest seller could mistakenly sell you expired tickets. WAY too risky to buy them on eBay.

I have to agree with the other posters. I would never buy a PH ticket on ebay. Not worth the risk, even from a good seller.

I agree it's not worth the risk. Most tickets I've seen on eBay go for prices that only offer minimal savings off of legit means of getting tickets. I don't think it's worth risking your whole investment for a possible 5-10% savings.

On the legal front... The resale or use of resold partially used theme park tickets is illegal in Florida. As for eBay, their policy is that the laws in effect in the state(s) of the buyer and seller are the guiding factors.... however, that doesn't negate Florida's law when it comes to actually reusing them. Are you likely to be caught? It's unlikely, unless you buy tickets that require ID (like some of the military passes). But if you have problems with the re-sold tickets at the gate and mention to a CM that you got them from some one else... you can probably kiss them goodbye.

What savings? I have regularly seen 4-day park hopper plus passes inexplicably sell on eBay for more than what Disney or discount ticket brokers charge. Unlike highly desirable and sought after theatre or concert tickets, the fair market value of Disney admission passes is not a function of supply and demand. Tickets are readily available to anyone at regular and even discounted prices if purchased in advance.

There are also eBay auctions for non-existent one and two-day park hopper passes. I can only imagine that these nontransferable passes are being offered for the remaining unused days of a four or five day hopper.

UBSHANG,

That's why I said "possible" savings. I agree that some tickets actually go for more than one would pay with discounter or pre-purchase savings.

As for the 1 and 2 day PHP's. Some of them offered are partially used PHPs, but there ARE in fact such things as 1 and 2 day PHPs... they just aren't available to the general public.

At least 95%? Ive bought from Ebay and will only buy from people who have 100%..only on one occasion have I bought something from a 99.8% seller!! I find it too risky..sorry
