Hi. I have an e-bay account that I've used for the past two years with good success. Right now, what I have on there isn't really selling and I haven't had any action in about a month or so and even when I do, it's for .99 book or something similiar.
I just had my monthly bill sent to me and it is for a little over $7. I haven't even sold $7 worth of stuff this month or last month.
I don't want to quit my account since I know I'll have things to put up again as well as text books but what should I do since it is silly that I keep paying monthly bills when I'm not selling.
Can anyone please help me with my best option.
Thanks SO much!

I'm not sure what you're asking? :confused3 If you don't think you're going to make money with what you have listed. End everything. Pay the outstanding fees, and call it a day. You don't have to close your account. Mine is sitting idle right now.

If you don't want to pay the fees out of pocket because you'll take a loss, well, sometimes cutting your losses is the best decision. Don't you have a credit card attached to your account? Ebay will get their money one way or another.

Thank you. I'm not looking not to pay the fees, it's connected to my paypal and the fees come right out of there.

How do I end everything and sit idle like you are doing right now?
For the items that I end, do I need to relist once I'm back up and selling more things or will it "save" the things I have listed.
Thanks. I guess I want to sit idle if that can be done without closing my account but not having to pay monthly fees.
Thanks!

First of all, figure out what the fees are for. You should not be getting a monthly bill if you're not selling anything unless you have a store (and I'm guessing you don't as they are typically more than $7/month). You can go to your account tab in My Ebay and click on "fees" to get an itemized list of the items on the invoice. That way you can see what they're charging you for.

I'm guessing, without knowing more details, that your books may be fairly heavy and expensive to ship and that's were your fees are coming from.

If you don't want to sell right now, all you need to do is go into your listings and hit end item. Your account can sit idle for as long as needed and you shouldn't be charged anything (again, unless you have a store in which case you will have a monthly fee for that). You will need to relist everything when you decide to start selling again.

Thank you VERY much.
So, if I hit end item on all my items, I should not be charged any monthly fees?
I'm going to see why I was charged $7 and report back. Thanks!

I have not sold anything in the past two months and cannot find why I was charged $7.15. The last few months I've been charged between $2-$3.
I guess I need to call or e-mail them.
Thank you.

In the past my credit card was never charged until I had accummulated over $5 in fees. They would still send the monthy statments, but the automatic draft didn't hit until I had at least $5 outstanding - sometimes that would take 4-6 months. Maybe that's what has happened.

No, I've been charged $2-$3 a month, this month $7.25.
I was on hold for 30 minutes and I told them I had to go since I was at work but they said they would call me back and haven't so now have to call again.
The guy on the phone said ebay was going to credit me back some money for listing fees that I didn't have :confused3

Even if your items aren't selling, don't you still get charged a fee to list them?

Yes, you still get charged and the last 2 months I have not sold anything and I have not added anything to my ebay lists of things to sell.
So, my monthly payments have been between $2-$3. But, for October, it is $7.25 and I have not sold anything in the last 2 months and have not listed more items, thus the reason I was wondering.
Now I have to call ebay back since they never called me...ggrrr...

Oh, you mentioned in the first post that what you have on there isn't really selling, not that you haven't tried to sell anything the last two months. So you haven't even started any auctions, which means you shouldn't have any fees. I hope they fix this for you :).

I just wanted to add.... If you are selling books, why not list on half.com? They are part of ebay, but there are no listing fees, just a fee when you sell. I rarely look on ebay for books/movies/cds/video games because half.com is easier, with standard shipping fees.

what's your user name? i need many things, maybe i can buy some.

:) feel free to pm me.

That's really strange then. Keep following up with Ebay about this. You'll probably have to call them multiple times, their customer service isn't known for it's honesty. Most of the time they just tell you what you want to hear to get you off the phone quickly. Tell them you either want a credit for the amount due or proof of why you owe it.

This isn't right. You do NOT get charged listing fees for the first 50 auction items listed. I don't understand how you can have fees unless they were accrued after the previous month's was paid. For example, right now I have $70 I owe Ebay..that's for fees that came after the last billing cycle ended. I always make a point of leaving in enough for the fees. If I don't sell and don't go over the 50 free a month, then I don't have any fees at all.

Isn't there a fee for extra photos? The BIN option also has a fee.

They allow 12 free photos for free now..if you do some other special photo thing in certain categories it's 35 cents..but I NEVER do that..no point. When I do BIN connected to an auction option there is no extra fee. Still, if she hasn't sold anything for 2 MONTHS there should be no residual fees on anythiing. There is a place under your account where you can see EXACTLY where fees are added..so many cents to this item or that. She should find that page. (Ebay, to me, is notorious to navigate to find out the simplest thing) and then hound CS to get exact info on what the fees are.

Oh goodness. Then I really better be on them since I didn't sell anything last month and they charged me $2+ and I am not selling 50 items.
I am going to call right after I finish reading this thread.
They have NOT called me back or credited me a few dollars like the guy told me he would. Now I think I need to be credited it all back.

I am on the phone now and waiting for them to pick up.
It took me about 45 minutes yesteday and NOTHING was done.
I looked on ebay and I have 15 items listed.
