Ebay item not received... I've never had this problem...

I know there are a ton of Ebay questions and problems so I'm sorry I'm adding to the list. I really need help, though, and everyone seems to give great advice.

Back at the end of Nov I ordered 2 wreaths from a seller through buy it now. I paid right away. I then bid on one and won it a few days later (on the 26th). I e-mailed the seller to get the total for the 3rd wreath b/c he combined shipping. He e-mailed me back with a response within 12 hrs. so I paid and told him I'd like to receive them ASAP (he asked you to tell him when you wanted to receive them).

Unfortunately, I haven't received any of the wreaths. I e-mailed him 2 times last weekend to find out when to expect them and never heard anything. I also e-mailed him about 2 days ago and asked for my money back b/c I hadn't received the wreaths or a response to either of my e-mails.

He had great feedback when I bid but he has received several negatives from people who haven't heard from him and never received their wreaths, either.
My question is when do I try to get my money back through paypal? I feel so horrible b/c it's almost X-mas and I'm trying to give the guy a break. I don't want to lose almost $40, though.

I'm sorry this is another Ebay question but I really am at a loss.
 
I believe you can file a claim through Paypal and I'm sure other people here on the DIS can be more helpful.

Sorry about your loss. It seems that lately, eBay is more of a hassle than what it's worth. I'm almost afraid to buy anything now...
 
No great suggestions here, except the thought that maybe he had a TRUE emergency come into his life. Get his contact info through Ebay and give him a call?? Also, you need to pursue getting your $$ back soon... did you use Paypal?.......Good luck....P
 
That's why I'm having an issue...I am thinking that perhaps he had an emergency.
Unfortunately(or fortunately..depending on how you look at it), in addition to the negative feedbacks there have also people leaving feedback that they received their wreaths recently and had no problems communicating with him. I did pay with paypal so I'm not too worried about receiving my money back.
I'm just bummed b/c I wanted these to give as gifts for X-mas, not for Valentine's Day ;)

oh, I'm also wondering....is it really common for people to call the seller? I fell really awkward just calling up this person and telling them I want my money back when he's ignoring all my e-mails.
 

I'm in the same boat. I paid for something on the 6th, the guy said he shipped it on the 9th but it's not here yet and it's a Christmas gift and I'm freaking out. The guy has not answered any of my e-mails. I got his phone number but am shy about calling. I think I will wait and see if it comes in the mail today, and if not, I'll call tomorrow. It's possible he does this for work and he didn't check e-mails over the weekend, right? :rolleyes1 Let us know what you do!
 
Don't wait too long for the Paypal chargeback, since you are limited on how many days you have to file. I'd file, and cancel if you work it out.

How many days should I wait? Mine might really be delayed in the mail. I'd like to give the guy the benefit of the doubt before I file, but I don't want to wait too long either!
 
I'm waiting for an item I bought December 5th. I'm trying not to stress too much though, because last Christmas I had a long waiting time also.

I don't know what's going on with the post office but my DMIL sent DS's Christmas gifts from California on 12/5 priority mail and they still aren't here in NJ. I"m really starting to get worried because they were very expensive presents. Luckily they were insured.
