Hi guys :hello:

I bid and won a hat on ebay, once I won the item I tried to pay via paypal but I couldnt as a message came up saying the sellers paypal account was frozen. I sent a message - saying I couldnt pay for the item but would try the next day (I assumed there was a fault with paypal). The seller replied back that his account had been frozen as someone had hacked into the account. He said he would send the hat if I paid via cheque or postal order -send it to him and and he would send the hat out. I sent a message saying I wasnt prepared to do that, as I had bid on an item on good faith that I could pay by paypal and that I was not comfortable with paying by cheque (plus I thought it was dodgy his accoutn had been frozen). The seller said eh would cancel the sale - he didnt and a few days later he launched a resolution case against me as I had not paid. I responded that the seller was due to cancel the sale - and he agreed he would - again he didnt! I have sent him messages requesting again that the sale is cancelled, but he has not replied and his starting to get poor reports on his feedback score. What can I do to get this sale removed from my account?

Thank you :)

This happened to me too. He will issue a strike against you for non-payment and you will need to dispute it. I had to forward the emails the seller had sent to me, saying that he was not going to go ahead with the sale. You can do this through the resolution centre. He will not get his fees back any other way - that is why he is doing it. You could ask him to do a 'mutual agreement' to end the sale - if you agree to it, he will get his fees back - just tell him you will agree to it and it will avoid hassle for both of you. You can still leave him negative feedback while the case is open - you could remind him of that!!

Stay calm and respond to every message that is sent thought the dispute resolution.
You can also instigate messages yourself so that you have a trail that you have tried to pay this and resolve with the seller :thumbsup2

By the way be careful about threating negative feedback. If the seller reports you to ebay for threating this, it will count against you :thumbsup2

Hi sorry should have explained more - the seller did launch a resolution against me and it was agreed that the seller would end the sale - due to what is outlined above. But he hasnt? The sale is still visible and I can't now respond to the dispute?

The seller is no longer responding to emails - and seems to not be "live" on ebay?

Did you get a message from ebay advising you that the seller had by mutial agreement closed the dispute ?

Go to My ebay and then the resolution centre at the bottom left hand side.
Even closed disputes should be in here :thumbsup2

What did the seller use as the reason for closing and did you get an auto-generated message from ebay when it was closed?
Being live may not be a problem :goodvibes

I've have a message to say that the transaction was successfully cancelled "This case is closed the buyer and seller agreed to not complete the transaction". But my account still says I have 1 item to pay for.

That is fine. You should have nothing to worry about :)
