Ebay Help - Fraud!!! Update post 14 :(

Did you go to Paypal's website and file a claim?? We had to do it once and we started the process by going to the website and clicking on the paypal resolution center to get the ball rolling. Both you and the seller will be able to access the messages about the account and then go from there. I'm sure you've probably already read this but thought I'd put it up for you in the small chance you hadn't

It took about 14 days for us to get the refund in our account but it did come. If your credit card company is also there to back you up I wouldn't be too worried about it. I'm sure you'll get your money back somehow either through paypal or by your credit card company.

It sure does stink when you get taken though! I hope you get it resolved quickly.

Hugs, hugs and more hugs to you! :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

I am so sorry this happened to you. And I totally agree. Paypal should immediately do something. If not, it seems they condone this behavior! Is it a credit card or a bank debit card? Hopefully it is a credit card.

Hang in there, honey. You have done so much to stop the process. Letting the card company know was the smartest thing to do! Again, HUGS! :grouphug:

Thank you for the hugs. My dh and I went out for a early dinner - just to get out of this mood I am in :goodvibes

VENTING:
While I do understand protecting the seller, I think that Ebay and Paypal should have some kind of system to realize that this seller has been acknowledged and shut down (by Ebay). If Ebay has already taken my "won" items away, why cant they send Paypal this information? So why still give the seller the protection? I am really disappointed at the attitude of Paypal. I talked to 2 paypal staff members and unfortunately both were rude to me - and made it seem like it was my fault I bid on this auction - wow, it really shocked me :confused3

Two bad experiences in one week with sellers ... I guess there is a lesson to be learnt by me ... dont bid on something if it seems like too good of a deal.
I used to bid with confidence but now will always be skeptical. I have not bought too many items in the last few years but I do have a 100% positive feedback.

Okay, okay I will stop venting ... wish everyone better luck out there.

THANK YOU!

 I am so sorry this happened to you. I'm glad the credit card company will give your money back.

I have always been afraid to buy big ticket items off ebay. The most i have ever spent from ebay is about $60 for an item.

I could be wrong, but I believe Paypal is now owned by ebay. I haven't used paypal in a long time, but I believe you can go into your account and cancel the transaction and it will refund the money back to you. I know I did that once but it was a very long time ago.

I can't speak for PayPal as to why they are handling things as they are, but as an ebay seller, I can say that we are at risk of being defrauded, too.

Buyers who claim they did not receive the item or claim it was damaged, then file a false chargeback; buyers who threaten to leave you a negative feedback if they don't get a partial refund.

So while you know you are an honest person, PayPal does have a responsibility to the owner of the other account, to make sure everyone is on the same page as to what has happened.

Ditto.

Hi Jipsy
I did try to cancel that payment but I am unable to complete that transaction. According to Paypal it violates the sellers protection. Many people said that Paypal and Ebay have merged :confused3 So why dont they see that my seller hijacked someone elses account and that Ebay has already claimed this person as a FRAUD? :confused3

Oh well ... live and learn :sad2:

Epcotfan ... I really do understand both the seller and buyers protection policy - however my problem is with the way Paypal has handled my personal situation - I dont understand why this "fake" seller can get my money AFTER Ebay has confirmed that he has committed fraud? :confused3
