ebay gift cards and paypal accounts

If I put ebay gift cards into my ebay account they appear to go directly to the paypal list. If I buy something from paypal, (not ebay) will they be available to be used for a paypal purchase? Does that make sense?

From what I understand, the money from the eBay GCs is applied directly towards your PayPal balance which in effect, adds additional funds your PayPal account.

However, for those contemplating a PayPal account, you must still have a valid bank account to link the PayPal account to (as part of the U.S. Patriot Act, among other things).

Thanks! I have several gift cards, and will wait to put them in. I don't want them being squandered away on vitamins and other stuff we order off of the net, and the companies accept paypal.

Hmmmm...otoh, does that mean I could save them until I am ready to rent points for WDW? I wasn't going to buy from ebay, but I have seen on the rental board that many take paypal.

As long as the GCs have no expiration date, I don't see why not (but I believe it would be a whole safer to keep that kind of money in a seperate bank account).

Another thought on the eBay GCs -- if you have a rewards-based credit/debit card, why not purchase the eBay cards with one of those cards (and get your rewards!).
