Ebay for resort mugs?

Boy, what a nasty, mean bunch of posts. What exactly has provoked such anger? If the mugs can't be used because they are only LOS, then she won't be able to use them. If she can use them because there is a kink in the system and Disney hasn't found a way to close the loophole that causes pervasive "mug-sharing", I'm sure it won't be such a rampant problem as to raise resort prices. Doesn't take much to "amaze" and "outrage" people here.

Don't know what the deal is with the germs queens. Do you wear your bubble suits to WDW and bring your own dishes to restaurants? There is this new amazing invention called the dishwasher that a lot of people use. Just hot soapy water and a scrubber ain't bad either.

Nope. Doesn't do it for me. She does not say it in that post. She just mentions that she is now staying at the Poly. She also said she likes (not would like) to stay at CBR.

These mug designs change. She really might be collecting them. I have two different versions from the AllStars. Maybe she's trying to collect the old designs.

Maybe will should see what her intentions are before anyone jumps to conclusions.

And before anyone asks,

YES. I DID reuse my mugs from two (2) different years of purchase (stays).

Why? Well, like others, we were told that we could use them for future stays. Maybe that was their perk for getting people to come back and stay there.
And before anyone says that this is not the current policy and we should not have done this (not assume as we were told this when we purchased them), we did, in fact, call the resort and ask on whether these mugs could be brought with us and used during our stay. They said that it was ACCEPTABLE to return with these previous stay mugs and use them to our hearts content.

I guess I'm still the criminal now for reusing them there now.
EBay now turned into another mug debate, reuse and germ infested.

I too cannot believe the anger that some of you have mustered up towards lailah. My goodness, WDW is supposed to be the happiest place on earth and if you guys are this mean when you're not there, I can only imagine that being at Disney only makes you slightly happier. I wouldn't want to run into any of you while refilling my old mug at the All Stars. I too was told when I purchased it that it was good on subsequent trips. I also can assure you that there was no "fine print" stating that they "were refillable for future visits that is unless Disney changes the policy and makes them only good for LOS.

That being said, I find it simply UNBELIEVABLE that all of you can get so fired up over a maximum of thirty some dollars. I mean come on, from what Disney overcharges for food and drinks at the parks, I don't think "stealing" soda is going to send them into Chapter 11. As scrupulous a company as Disney is, if it was as big a problem as you guys think it is, then they would find some way to fix it.

Lighten up you guys! This poor thread starter is fairly new and replies like this are going to send her running away from the DIS boards for good.

I agree but I want to first invite adams66 to a toast at the foodcourt using our refillable OLD mugs filled with fresh coffee (which was not much stronger than water this past trip).

The point of the OP was not to collect them as some have tried to say it was. The reason is obvious. The OP was looking to get some mugs on the cheap so as not to put herself out a few bucks at WDW. It is no better then putting more people in the room than you are allowed or lying about your kid's age. Stealing is stealing. Nobody is arguing about someone bringing their OWN mug back to future visits. That in itself is another thread. We are discussing buying a used mug and bringing it to WDW. That is exactly what the OP intended to do with them. And to address the posters that think I or others may live in a bubble I just wanted to say.... I just think it ludicrous that anyone in their right mind would buy something off Ebay and drink out of it. I don't care if it is run through the dishwasher a hundred times. For some strange reason, I feel that it is well worth the extra $2 a mug to buy it new then to take my chances on what it went through before I received it. I mean, we are talking minor dollars here people. I think that since there are so many out there that are trying to take advantage of the refillable mugs that they will be eliminated in the future. That angers me and I'm sure all of the other honest people out there that feel that $10 for all the drinks you can drink in ONE visit is well worth it!

Well, I see nothing wrong with washing and using the mug. I have bought and sold older glassware, cups, etc. on eBay. I just think she overpaid for used items. Now, if she had gotten them for a buck a piece, then I wouldn't even be posting...

Well, I think you all have blasted me enough. Now the facts. I do, in fact, have a big variety of mugs from all the resort we have satyed at in the past. I never purchased the WL mugs BECAUSE we've never stayed there and they are pretty much the last ones I need. I also only have 2 CB mugs and I like a collector's set of 4. I just so happened that the set I purchased was for 5 of WL mugs, so I got an extra one. BTW, I ALWAYS purchase my mugs at the resorts I stay at as I ALWAYS pay for the extra person in my room, unlike some of you who probably don't. AND where in my post did I say I was going to use them?!? I always purchase 2 at the resort, but like I said, I like 4, so why purchase the extra 2 if I'm not going to use them? I will purchase my 2 mugs at the POLY, but once again I'll be looking for 2 more. I get excited whenever I purchase something regarding WDW. I have never cheated WDW and I never will and I feel very hurt that you people would take it upon yourselves to imply this. I asked a question, got a good response and now I'm a victim of your imaginations! Thanks again for ALL of your help.

I tried to tell them lailah. Just as I said, nowhere in your post did you say you will be using these ebay mugs while at WDW. I'm glad you made your response here to end their accusations, well, hopefully end them. Shame some jumped to conclusions.

PS. Make sure you do not use those ebay mugs for drink consumption. I'd hate to see you getting sick from using them.
