How is it that people get access to upcoming Disney items and are able to sell them on Ebay?

They have an SS Member Cruise-February 2003 t-shirt for sale???

How do these people get this stuff? I don't think that's very nice to be offering it on Ebay. Obviously anyone cruising on that cruise will no longer be surprised.

Also, anyone who never received a Member Guidebook for 2001-2002, bids start at $1.00 I won't be surprised if someone posts a Member Guidebook 2002-2003!!! Some people are sick..selling items they get for free!

I completely agree. But, so are the nuts buying them. If they were members, they could get them for free too.

Not all members get the same free stuff. I won't be on that cruise, so I won't get that shirt. I wasn't on the last cruise, so I didn't get the 10 year anniversary pin and lanyard. I've kept an eye on the pin and lanyard on ebay because that something I'd like to have but i haven't been willing to pay the going rate so far.

But they're not sick if they paid something for it ?

I would love to find a product that I can get for FREE then sell on E-bay. And I'll bet there are a lot of Sicko's out there just like me !!

DVCCajun,

We were able to get the 10 year anniversary pin from a DVC CM at a DVC presentation desk . It was on a cruise, but not the DVC Cruise.

Hm. Wonder if they're still available?

We were given the 10 yr pin at the Thursday Member update here at Boardwalk.

Minnie*Mouse,

If I don't get my guide book by the end of next week I'll start the bidding at $1.00!!!

LOL!!

I have some friends who were Disney Store CM's and when we went on a trip to WDW last year we went to the tent at Property Control (behind MK). They have a section where they sell lost & found items. I was surprised that they had the hardback book DVC sends when you ask for information. I don't know if they also give these on the tour, but I guess someone left it somewhere on property. They were selling it for 65 cents!

I guess I'm sick because I posted (on this site) an extra copy I got for this years guidebook as well as a couple of extra Vacation Magics I have. I thought some non members might be interested in them. I'm sorry you don't approve.

My dh does some fire prevention at a warehouse in his area that stores Disney overstock/discontinued "stuff". Some of this stuff is incredible! Dh gets this stuff for free because this guy wants to clear it out of his storage lockers. (Disney releases their rights to it first, of course) As much as I would love to sell this stuff on Ebay and make a profit (I'm OH SO TEMPTED) - I choose to hang onto it and give out stuff as gifts to my kids friends, put some in the reward baskets for my kids teachers, you get the picture. I figure it's still "making me money" because I don't have to go buy stuff for the monthly school parties. I appreciate those people selling that stuff on Ebay for people that otherwise wouldn't have access to it, though. Capitalism at its best.

What angers me the most is that this someone is listing a t-shirt that will be available at the DVC Member Cruise in Feb. Or when someone listed 20 Mickey Sept 11th pins and some members never received theirs. Fortunately I wasn't one of them.

I'm not saying people shouldn't sell Disney stuff on Ebay. There's nothing wrong with a person who went on the 10th anniversary cruise who received 2 pins and then sell them on Ebay because they have no use for them. Perhaps they're not collectors.

It's when people sell the Disney promotion videos you may request online or by telephone, or the video and book for potential DVC members, park maps, etc!!! It's stuff anyone can get for free and they are selling them.

I didn't mean to insult anyone.

M*M

Minnie*Mouse, I wasn't really insulted but just wanted you to realize there are other ways to look at things. I would agree that if someone got something they shouldn't have in a shady way, that's a problem. Otherwise, I would think anyone could sell anything as long is it's legal. Why would it be a problem to sell something that one got for free, especially of someone else wants it. Otherwise, there would be no auctions or yard sales.

I'd raise that bid to $2.00 since I haven't received MY 02/03 Guidebook yet either!!!!! ;)

It's called capitalism. Buy low, sell high.

No one ever went broke underestimating the stupidity of the public.

Whoever thought 10 years ago we would PAY for water at the grocery store?

Something that is worthless to one person is worth something to another.... A couple years ago I spent weeks an weeks waiting for my free Disney plannnig video, and got impatient and did an E-Bay search for one. I wanted my video, and I might have shelled out a few bucks to get it sooner. (Didn't find one, and was glad when the video arrived a few weeks later and I learned just how worthless WDW planning videos are!)

As for the flag pin-- given the number of people I've seen upset about not getting a flag pin, I would determine that there is indeed a market for them. Some people don't really get the pin thing; so when the get a free pin in the mail, they want to see if they can get a few bucks for it.
