I ordered a josefina american girl doll off of ebay. The description said "hair appears to be uncut" Well when we received her yesterday the back of her hair was obviously cut. It was slanted and looked like it was hacked. So irritated that dd8 is disappointed and have to ship her back. I should have looked but it said she will not return shipping fees. Can i dispute this since it was obvious that she lied in her description. There is no way that the hair was overlooked, even my dad noticed it. I'm made I had to pay for shipping 2x now on something like this. I did pay with paypal

We have a Josefina AG doll and when the hair was unbraided it looked like a hack job as well. Had I not been with DD when we unbraided it, I would have thought she cut it. Mine was an original AG not a Mattel version, the Mattel's hair has changed IMO. Her friend's doll was the same (actually worse) when it was unbraided. It may very well have been the way it was. I think they trimmed it after it was braided at the factory. See if you can compare it with another doll to see

When I had a dispute I had to pay for shipping back. make sure you get delivery confirmation. All I got was the auction total refunded.. not shipping either way.

Oh no!! CeeCee i just sent it back. Thank you for letting me know. I did call my friend who has Josefina to see if hers was the same but never got back to me. So it really looks hacked. I mean it was bad. Totally uneven. Like about three inches different in some spots. yikes I think I made a bad boo boo.

How can you dispute it when it states in the description that the hair appears to be uncut. "Appears to be uncut" means that it looks like the hair wan't cut but can be. She didn't state that is wasn't uncut but appeared that way (meaning she isn't sure). That dispute isn't fair to the seller. She stated it & you misread it. I am sorry to sound like I am not backing you, but I would hate to be a seller having a dispute against me when I stated something that someone chose not to take into consideration.
By the way, I am not a seller but a purchaser on E-bay & I read everything that is in that description & take it all into consideration prior to bidding.

I was disputing it because it obviously looked like it was cut. No doubt about it. Inches different on hair right next to each other looks like cut to me.

I agree that the hair will look cut if unbraided since she originally had braids. If you just sent it back, you could email the seller and explain the problem. Perhaps they can do "return to sender" on the package you sent so you can at least get the doll back.

It's been awhile since I've done much with e-bay, but I did get my purchase price and original shipping fee refunded when I won a dispute. I was still stuck with the cost to get the item back to the seller.

I doubt you'd win a dispute on this one though, and since it sounds like the seller is working with you, I'd just continue with that.

FWIW, DD has an AG doll that I swear they did what ceecee suggested, it looks just like the ends were trimmed after the hair was already braided.

I am an idiot. I called the post office and picked up the doll. They even returned my shipping at the po which I didn't expect lol. The lady on ebay couldn't have been nicer. I did email her first didn't put in a dispute or bad feedback or anything. I was just worried if she wasn't willing to work with me. I apoligized to her a million times. When I got the doll back i did put the hair back in a pony and yes it was the right length then. ugh. Guess I wasn't thinking, but I just came off of work last night when I opened the box. Like I said she couldn't have been nicer. I feel so bad.

OP, I TOTALLY would have thought the same thing you did. who would have thought they'd braid the hair then cut it? It makes total sense now that you guys point it out, but I guess because it isn't quite how we do it on little girls I never even thought of it. :rotfl:

I'm glad to hear you were able to work it out with the seller, and kudos to her for being nice to deal with! :thumbsup2

Note to self... never let dd unbraid Josephina's hair. DIS provides info on all subjects :worship:

Glad you were able to get her back. Note to self, if I sell some of DD AG dolls to make sure that is described well.

I USED to sell on eBay a LONG time ago I'm glad it worked out for you and if you didn't leave feedback yet I would write something like "Seller very helpful and item received as expected Highly recommend!"

Now you won't have to apologize a million and one times :goodvibes

If you paid through paypal and dispute and paypal agrees that the description was wrong (could go either way since the seller didn't say it was uncut). You would get a refund for the purchase plus the shipping fee that you originally paid, but you will be responsible for paying the shipping fees and confirmation fee to return it. Paypal will not pay you if you do not add the confirmation fee as you have to send the confirmation number to them and THEY will track it when the seller gets it back. Only then will they refund you. I sometimes sell on ebay and this happened to me once. The buyer didn't agree with my description and I agreed to return, but the seller will not have to incur the cost of the shipping twice. You should've sent an inquiry to the seller if you had concerns about the hair and they could've taken more pictures for you. Pretty much, both the buyer and seller will both be out of pocket in regard of the shipping fee. If you didn't pay via paypal, then I don't know. So you need to file a dispute with paypal and they will be your judge and jury of who is right.

They cut it after they braid it to make sure the braids are even. and no extra long hairs. Unfortunately, I know this as I have done it to my middle DD's hair in the past and learned the hard way that when unbraided it no longer is the same length.
