Okay, I was perusing through various sites to see what kind of deals I can get on Disneyland tickets. I ran through this one on Ebay. Great looking ad BUT read the whole thing as it started to sound very scary. I thought it was a joke but apparently not.

The kicker is they will meet you the day before or morning Disneyland opens to give you the tix. The really wierd thing is they will NEED the tickets back. Scroll down to the middle where it says "How This All Works"..

Since you no longer need the tix when you're in they will pick them up in the park. "A drivers licence is required to ensure I receive the tickets back at the end of the day." ..yikes.

The seller has a 1578 feedback and a powerseller..

Is this legit?

here's the Ebay link for your review (I can't make it into a URL as I lack 10 posts - copy and paste into your browser after the //):

cgi.ebay.com/1-ADULT-1-DAY-DISNEYLAND-TICKET-HOPPER-PASS-06-30-07-03_W0QQitemZ310060941813QQihZ021QQcategoryZ16071QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

That's a pretty common scam. For example, somebody buys a multi-day hopper; say a 6-day for $199. Then they "sell" the tickets as two-day hoppers, available between certain dates. They can charge each of 3 users $100 each; that's a savings of $32 over DL prices for a 2-day hopper. But they get it back, give it to the next person within a couple of days (it has to be used within 14 days of first use), etc. So they'd make $100 bucks profit on each 6-day hopper doing it this way.

It's all quite illegal, of course. The tickets are non-transferable and not for resale except by Disney-sanctioned travel companies.

Nope! It violates the terms of the ticket with Disney and you will have no recourse if you get taken. It's probably best to play by the rules on this one.

That's the one my MIL wanted to do, but I talked her out of it. Very creepy if you ask me, and not worth the saving at all.

This is nothing new. I have been complaining about it for quite sometime. Is what legit? The ebay listing, or what they are doing? Yes it's a real ebay sale NO IT IS NOT legit as far as Disneyland is concerned. And WHY disneyland puts up with it is beyond me. I don't understand why DL does not handle their tickets like WDW does with a thumb print or some other non transferable method.

No, I didn't but I just read it..yikes. The seller has quite an elaborate Ebay homepage and seems to have satisified customers. The weirdest part is leaving your drivers licence with somebody you don't know..H-E-L-L-O? ! ?

I haven't read the ebay auction but don't you need your tix once you get in for the fastpass? how does fastpass work in DL if you don't use you ticket?

He gives them to you either the night before or the morning of your trip. You arrange to hand them back the evening of your last day usually late. He probably has an AP and goes into the park and you hand them back around fireworks time or something. At that point you would not need to use the actual ticket for anything unless you wanted to leave the park and come back in. It's a HECK of a lot of trouble to save $10 bucks on a ticket IMO. I would not ever agree to do this.

Gotta make some fake ID's and scam the scammer!;)

yeah, that does sound like it alright. Illegal, yes, but it saves people money so people are still doing so.

I agree it's a lot of work for you to save a bit and a lot of work for them to make $100 too! In my opinion.
I was referring to this statement in the OP
"Since you no longer need the tix when you're in they will pick them up in the park. "
They say on their auction (I'm assuming since it was posted here) that you no longer need the tix when you're in- and I was saying don't you need them when you're in?

That sounds risky and like an awful lot of hassle to save money, I think i'd be worried about getting into trouble if the seller was ever caught.

It looks like this is for a one day use on a pass and the auction says they will p/u the ticket that evening, around DCA closing, and you can stay in the park until closing without the ticket (which would be a couple of hours or so). I guess you would have the ticket all day for FP and such.

Very shady though - and they have 30 available! It amazes me that people would do this - and willingly hand over their driver's license to a stranger for a day?? Hello?!?! :scared1:

Seems they pick it up in the evening in Disneyland, after DCA closes, since you can't hop anymore. Of course, if someone has to run back to the hotel or the car, they can't get back in without that ticket...

here is my question, I know the military checks ebay and actually know someone that got busted BIG time, why doesn't Disney do this and if indeed the person has an AP REVOKE FOR LIFE??

problem is, you end up with NEG feedback and he would probalby dispute the sale on paypal and manage to get his money back. It's just not worth it. Wish Disney would "sting" sales like this to stop it.
