Has anyone heard back from this guy? I sent a question yesyerday and I've heard nothing. Somebody is going to be very unhappy when they win!

Heard back from the seller:

"We sell donated timeshares for charity and do our best to get accurate info from the the resorts. Yes , we have now learned that the deeded week is worth 216 annual points renewed each September 1st. There are no points left over from past years but this years 216 are available."

This person's lack of professionalism is starting to make me mad. First off, he states that he sells these for charity, but if he's doing this as a business (sounds like it from his description) he is still making money off the deal---it's not all for charity.

Second, "we do our best to get accurate info from the resorts". Uh, I'd say NO effort was made to get any information from Disney.

Sounds like (although you won't get a definite answer from this guy) that there are no points for this year until Sept. 2007. Again, people who don't know any better may think they are going into Jan. ("this year") with 216 points in hand. With the complexities of banking and borrowing this could mess up a buyer.

Finally, no mention that VB points can be used at 7 different locations including WDW. Seller is missing a big chance to market to the DVC uninformed at a higher price.

Original owners/estate would have been much better off joining with Tom in order to get this sold and donated to charity.

Plus no mention that the sale is subject to ROFR!

the seller had added a statment it has 240 DVCpoints with september use year
but in questions and answer question of ad
it states this is a 214 DVC point contract with september use year

The ad still does not clearly state
if the contract has the full allocation of the september 1,2006 use year points
or
no points till septemer 1,2007 use year
or of course
whether it is 214 DVC points or 240 DVC points

+

no mention of Disney ROFR

The person is a professional real state agent
+ has a high ebay feedback profile

but They seem to be very confused

This is the reply I rec'd from my ebay question to the seller (which never mentioned rofr btw, I think this is a new canned reply to everyone who questioned the auction):

This was a charitable donation and is being sold for charity. We try our
best to find the most accurate information possible from the the resorts.
Yes , we have now learned that the deeded week is worth 240 annual points
renewed each September 1st verified by resort. There are no points left
over from past years but this years 240 are available. As far as the rofr
Disney may not interfer since it is a charitable donation made by the
current owner. However if there is a problem with the rofr there will be a
full refund.

Apparently the expert got enough flack from members that he went back and checked his information. It is a 240 point contract with a September Use year. He claims that the contract was a gift to a charity and that they are liquidating it for the charity.

Still seems fishy to me but I don't see that there is anyway that it is going to make it through ROFR anyway so I don't figure there will be any harm that comes of it. The current bid is only like $28 per point, if Disney let that go through there would be hell to pay to those of us that have missed out on contracts at $70 per point due to ROFR...

Yes but he said that because it was for chairty he thought disney may not interfere. :lmao:

This is a big red flag. When we investigated buying a resale, one of the things we read during the course of our research is that if someone lists a DVC by week color (as in red week), etc. then they really do not know how DVC operates, etc. and STAY AWAY. Clueless on their part likely means a loss of money on your part.

Nice thought, but I'll bet it doesn't fly. Disney's ROFR wouldn't harm the charity. The charity would get the money either way - from a buyer or from Disney through ROFR.

Something stinks with this.

I've bought and sold plenty of real estate and this doesn't add up. When I've listed properties through agents I've always had my hand in the mix. I had the agent write up a description and then submit it to me for changes and/or approval. Once the listing posted to the MLS and other sources I, the seller, went on each site and verified it was correct and that it was in fact listed. I would follow up periodically to make sure there were no changes.

Where is the seller on this????

This is a juicy story unfolding... but we're not going to get to see how it ends. :sad2: I don't really follow this stuff much. Anyone know of a way to followup on the transfer of this contract?

Well...............

I thought I was done with points until AKL or CRV, but at 28 a point this is too good to passup.

I'm gonna go and bid $35.00 a point, lets see if I 'win'. If I do I can post the transfer details here.....<grin>

ETA:

Okay, for now I'm the high bidder, but I had to go all the way to $45.00 a point, hmmm.... that seems so high for a Disney property, what do you think?

If you throw in your child's froggy, you might have the winning bid.... :rotfl2:

If you read the questions part they state that it's both 214 points abd 240. Which is it? Run away!!!!!
