Is there such a thing as an Ebay customer service phone number?? I know customer service and Ebay do not go hand in hand, but I have a situation where I bought something from a fraudulent seller....Ebay cancelled the seller's account and even emailed me telling me the seller was a fraud. Now I am having a very hard time getting my money back. I have searched everywhere and all numbers for Ebay are no longer in service. If anyone has a working number I would appreciate it! Thanks!!

Don't know if this number still working but the last time I called it wa 408-558-7400. Give it a shot.

Thanks for the post! I tried that number and it says "Your call cannot be completed as dialed." Not sure why...as I put a 1 before the number and tried it without the 1 also. Guess it's another number that no longer works. Don't you just love Ebay! :headache:

Did you pay via Paypal? If so you can file a claim there and would most likely win and receive your money back. If you paid directly the seller with your credit card you should call your CC and explain the situation

Not a phone number but you can try this. Replace all the "dot"s with a . I can't post a link here since I only have 6 posts.

I did pay through Paypal.....so I will file a dispute with them and see what happens. Thanks.

Ebay will generally not get involved in the financial side of fraudulent activity UNLESS it is an instance of a seller hacking into your ebay account and listing items under your profile, and using your credit card on file. In that instance, they will remove the fraudulent listing, place a hold on your account, and refund you the "listing fees". This happened to me.

However, the payment part of transactions is something that PayPal will deal with. It's out of Ebay's domain...

I can understand....but Ebay is the one who sent me the email stating that an auction I had bid on or won was most likely fraudulent and they were closing the sellers account. The seller is no longer active on Ebay as they pulled his account. In the email it told me to file a dispute to recover the money I had lost on the transaction.

Either way I guess I would have to send back the product to the seller and I do know the seller is in CA, but the mailing address of the package is from Japan. We are talking a $25 loss...not sure it is worth it to send it back and then deal with all the hassle of getting a refund.

Oh well....I have had over a hundred great transactions.....I guess I will have to deal with it and move on.

ebay is almost impossible to get ahold of. I had to wait on hold for something like 40 minutes after being transferred to them by paypal. And this is for something that THEY are absolutely at fault for (and they are REFUSING to help). I think they wanted me to give up, but I just stayed on hold...

Anyway, sounds like maybe you can be helped by paypal, and I hope so.

I am confused. :confused3 Did you receive the item you paid for? If you did and it was what you wanted then why do you want to send it back?

If you paid and didn't recieve anything, then yes, I would dispute it with paypal.

I was just going to say the same thing. If you rec'd the item, and it was what you were expecting, then you have NO dispute in this situation.

The seller might have been fraudulently conducting business, but it's up to the authorities to deal with it. You paid money, you rec'd goods. No case.

I just had the same thing happen a few months ago. As soon as the auction ended I paid via paypal. A few days later ebay sent the same kind of email. I filed a dispute with paypal and about 2 weeks later they refunded the money to me. I would call paypal. Ebay, you wont get any where with them. Jo

I paid for an item....received an item, but not the item as it was described in the auction. Ebay closed the seller's account as they had multiple complaints of buyers receiving different items than were described in the seller's auctions. The items are Nintendo DS games. What the seller is doing is advertising them as N. American games and stating they are shipping from California via USPS. What he is actually doing is ordering a game from Japan for each Buyer and shipping them via airmail from Japan. They are copies of the original games in French (brochures and all information on package is in French).

I got an email back from Paypal that I have to send back the game with shipping and delivery confirmation in order to get reimbursement. Paypal gives a California address for the seller, but my package came from Japan. Not sure what to do.......

Contact paypal and file a dispute through ebay. You actually don't have to return the item if it's as you described. I had something similar happen with some bootleg DVDs. I did not have to return them (actually I threw them away) and I was given all of my # back including shipping cost.

Thanks for the info! I filed a dispute with both Ebay and Paypal. I called Paypal this evening and asked about the dispute I filed. I was told that Paypal has to have proof that I mailed back the item in order to get my refund. So I need to send back the item with delivery confirmation and then I will get my original payment back. I guess I will be out about $5.....instead of $25. I am going to wait a couple of days and see if I hear from Ebay.

Thanks everyone for the info!

If you send it back you will use the address listed with Paypal. They evidently were trying to act as the middle man. Taking your money and then ordering the bootleg from Japan having it sent directly to you. If you send it back make sure you get insurance and I would send it Media Mail or (First Class depending on which is cheaper).

Is it some sort of bootleg copy? If so, it's actually illegal to mail it (mail fraud). Would the postal service actually do anything? Probably not, but I refused to mail those Disney DVDs back for that reason.

Send it to the California address since that's the one on the paypal account, and you must use that address to be covered by PayPal. I would also get a tracking number for proof of return as you will probably need that to get your money back. Do it right away..Paypal will have trouble getting water from a stone.

It definitely appears to be a bootleg copy, but Paypal said I have to mail it back in order to get credit. Not sure what else to do.....

I will send it back to the California address given by Paypal with delivery confirmation. The cs rep at Paypal said the seller's account at Paypal is probably closed, but that I would still get my money back due to their product protection. I just have to scan my documents showing I have delivery confirmation on the item.

Thanks again everyone for your help!
