can you block a person after they have placed one bid on your auction item? when someone bids i like to look at their feedback. the guy who bid has terrible feedback and i want to block him so is it allowed once he placed only one bid?

Hi Dave

From what I understand you can cancel his bid if you feel dubious about it and then block him from bidding again. Try the help pages and type in 'cancel bid' and/or 'block bidder'. You are best checking as I'm sure there are rules and regulations as to why you are cancelling his bid. You can also set up buyer preferences so that for example say someone with more than 5 negs cannot bid on your item.

Best of luck!

thanks! i just checked the "good reasons" for cancelling a bid and negative history wasn't on there so i don't know if i should.

You have every right to cancel him. If I were you, I wouldn't hesitate for one second if it's really bad! I would also block him so he can't come back and bid again. eBay will not say a word and in reality, they probably won't even know you did it.

what about if they fall under the general blocked group you have set (no paypal account, out of US, etc) but they email you to be allowed to bid and you stupidly add them to the exclude from blocked bidder list before checking their feedback? then you realize you shouldn't have let them bid? can i still cancel the bid or is that my bad?

Sellers are permitted to exclude bidders at any time prior to the listing close and are free to cancel unwelcome bids. After a seller has cancelled a bid, the bidder may not place a new bid without the seller's permission.

i went and cancelled the bid, i just didn't feel good about it at all. i just hope the bidder doesn't slam me with neg feedback for cancelling. thanks for your help guys, much appreciated

They can't leave you feedback because they did not purchase the item.
Don't feel bad, you did the right thing IMO.
They have lousy feedback for a reason!

They can't give you negative feedback if the sale does not go thru. Better block than sorry, I always say. :teeth: Too many negatives are others trying to tell you to watch out....
