I've recently begun selling on ebay. It's become quite a passion for me these days -- I enjoy the challenge of seeing what the items we have hanging around our house collecting dust are worth to the buyers.

I'm ready to list a couple more items and it occured to me, a 7 day auction started today would end on Thanksgiving. Probably not the best time for an auction to end. Then I thought about a week from tomorrow being Black Friday. Probably not another good time for an auction to end.

So, anyone who's going to be listing in the next couple of days, what are your thoughts/plans as to start/end time for you auctions? I'm trying to get the best exposure for my time.

TIA! :flower:

I don't know the answer to your question, but hopefully one of our ebay experts will see this and respond. :)

I was sitting down to list some things myself and then thought the same thing. I am not going to list. But I wonder if people actually go on eBay on Thanksgiving because there isn't much to do once the turkey is done?????

There are a lot of people who have no family and no dinner to go to, that will be sitting down to the computer. It's quieter than other times, but people are getting in the buying mood, without leaving their home. While it depends on what you are selling, we do pretty good over this weekend. If I wasn't having company, I would be going at listing pretty good!

I wasn't looking at it from this point of view. It's a good one to think about. I think I'm just going to list and let the cards fall where they do. Thanks! :flower:

Hi! I'm new too, but I decided to go ahead and write up my listings and pay that little extra to have them start up on Monday. That way I don't have to write them when my girls are home next week. I figured that way they'd be up over Thanksgiving and the weekend after. Good luck! :flower:

I was hoping to have everything listed that I want to get rid of so it would end by this Sunday, but alas - life got in the way! :teeth:

I think I'll go ahead and take my chances with the rest of it - Thanksgiving or no.. Then if the things don't sell, EVERYTHING is going in LOTS so I can get it out of here!!! :flower:

I have a number of auctions that are waiting to upload in my Turbolister program. I'm going to sit down on Thurs morning & load them all so that they will be up & running on Thanksgiving day. I'm also doing most with Buy It Now so that the buyers who don't want to have to wait will be able to buy something that strikes their fancy at that point in time.

When it gets closer to the Christmas holiday, I start running "free" shipping upgrades to try to get packages to their destination more quickly. I usually end up adding .25-.75 to my handling charges for those auctions, but since buyers tend to buy more than 1 item I come out way ahead in the long run.

GL with your listings!

I like the scheduled start too. For the extra .10, it's worth it to me. I like knowing that my auctions all end at the same time. It makes packaging/shipping easier for me. I can do my listing when it's convenient to me, which is not necessarily when most people would be looking at ebay (like very early in the morning). Then, they can start when I think it's a higher buyer timeframe. :cool1:
