Okay so we all try to save $$$ and if I would have found out before now I would have used them for previous ones. I have been using my ebay money to buy Disney Gift Cards for WDW. And now I figured out this last time that if you go to disney direct (disney shopping) through ebates and you buy a 25.00 gift card you will get 1.00 back in your ebates account. So you are actually only spending 24.00 for a 25.00 gift card after the rebates. If no one knows about ebates let me know I will hook you up. Those 1.00 add up for sure. And you get more if you get a higher gift card.

I know the gift cards from Disney Shopping are not good at The Disney Store since they are different entities now but are they good at stores in WDW? Can you fill us in on that? I didn't know that!

Okay, I decided to quit being lazy and check it out myself, LOL.

It says this:

Disney Gift Card
• Shipped to any U.S. address
• Available in $25 increments up to $150 plus denominations of $200, $250, $300 and $500
• Free Shipping
• Redeemable at DisneyShopping.com, Disney Store locations in the U.S, participating locations at Walt Disney World® Resort, Disneyland® Resort and Disney Cruise Line®.

Have a question? Try our Disney Gift Card Frequently Asked Questions!

This is from the FAQs (not entire FAQs, just select questions I thought pertained to WDW):

Where can I use my Disney Gift Card?
The Disney Gift Card can be used for purchases at participating locations at Walt Disney World® Resort, Disneyland® Resort, and at Disney Store locations in the U.S., DisneyShopping.com and Disney Cruise Line® onboard ship.

Can I use my Disney Gift Card to purchase Theme Park tickets?
You can use your Disney Gift Card as a form of payment for Disneyland® Resort vacation packages by calling the Walt Disney Travel Company California at 1-866-470-5119. Coming soon, you will be able to use you Disney Gift Card for Walt Disney® World vacation packages.

Can I buy Disney Dollars with the Disney Gift Card?
Disney Dollars cannot be purchased with the Disney Gift Card.

Can the Disney Gift Card be used at the Magic of Disney and Disney's Earport at the Orlando International Airport?
Yes, the Disney Gift Card can be used for purchases at the Magic of Disney and Disney's Earport at the Orlando International Airport.

Unfortunately, although it says "participating locations" it doesn't specify exactly what that means. :confused3

Okay...this is from wdwinfo.com in the "forms of payment accepted" section:

Walt Disney World Shopping and Dining Card

The Walt Disney World Shopping and Dining Cards essentially are gift cards that can be purchased in denominations from $5.00 to $1500.00. The features are as follow:

The cards can be purchased at select merchandise and quick serve dining locations.
The cards do not expire and there are no fees applied if you carry a balance
The cards are accepted at select merchandise, dining and recreation locations
Additional funds can be added
The cards can be used in conjunction with other payment methods
Disney Dollars can be used to purchase the Shopping and Dining Card
Remaining card balances can be accessed at any location that accepts the card. Additionally, cardholders can call the toll free number (877-650-4327) to obtain this information
Two receipts are issued during purchase. If a card is lost or stolen, the original receipt, not the gift receipt, is required for replacement

RESTRICTIONS:

The Walt Disney World Shopping and Dining Card cannot be used for Resort reservations, room payments, package payments or ticket purchases
The cards cannot be used to purchase another Shopping and Dining Card, Disney Dollars or Gift Certificates

I think this is the same type of card. It still doesn't specify which shops/restaurants are and are not included.

I have been told that you can use them at any place that accepts credit cards, however, the hotels are not set up to use them as of yet for payment.

I know I saw somewhere on these boards exactly which restaurants will no accept them. (just wish I could remember where) - Most do, However I do remember that some especially in Downtown Disney and Epcot, that are I think are somehow kind of independently own do not. The only one I remember for certain is Rainforest Cafe in DTD only accepts it at the retail portion - not for dining. SunshineGirl was very helpful in a few posts talking about this. They are suppose to eventually accept them at the resorts but when - who knows? :confused3
Sorry for the rambling answer - If I can jog my brain and remember what thread I saw the list on I will re-post!

I put my money to work yesterday and realized that if you use your paypal debit card like if you have an ebay account you get .38 back from that. And 1.00 back through Ebates. So that is 1.38. And if you buy 18 gift card your 19th is free. So instead of 450.00 you really will get 475.00 if that makes sense. But if you get higher amounts like 50.00 per time then you get 2 on ebates and .75 on paypal.

So, I could use these at all/most of the WDW restaurants?

I don't have a PayPal card, but I do have a Disney Visa.

If I ordered (18) $25 cards, the 19th would be free.

So...$450 for $475 in gift cards...minus $18 Ebates and $4 Disney Rewards.

$475 gift cards for $428...$47 savings.

Is there a shipping charge?

ETA: How do you get the 19th free? Is there a code?

There is no shipping charge. I actually ordered mine with the web certificates I earned on MyPoints, but clicked to Disney shopping through Sunshine Rewards which paid out $1 for each $25 card. I didn't expect it, and it was a nice surprise when that $1 showed up in my account!

Did you need to use a code for this? I put 18 in my cart and didn't see anything saying a 19th would be included. So, I put in 19 but still didn't see anything. Sorry for being such a PITA. :teeth:

There are seven of us going in October, using DDE instead of the dining plan, so even if we just used these to pay for some of our meals we could save nearly $100. (18 $50 cards plus one free...$950 in cards for $900 plus $36 Ebates back and $9 Disney Visa rewards...$95 savings? Does that sound right?)

The 19th would be free based on the rebate from ebates and paypal. You would not get one free from Disney. So really after your rebates you will get the 19th free in the form of a rebate check or through sunshine rewards I guess too. This is a combined 1.00 ebates and .38 paypal. Hope this makes sense. And there is no shipping on disneyland.com either.

Oh, okay, thanks. Well, it's not quite as good a deal as I thought then. Between Ebates and Disney Visa for me that would make a total of 5% back. If I ordered $900 in cards it would be $45 back. It's still a savings, but I don't know if it's enough to make it worth carrying all those cards. I could just charge everything to my room, pay it with my Visa and still get the 1% rewards. On $900 it would be $36 savings for the 4% from Ebates.

Hmmm...what to do? I'll have to think about it.
