Ebates 20% back for Orbitz tickets

I am planning to redeem the voucher on the dates I entered. BUT I dot want to activate the tickets then. I want to save the tickets for my next trip in December. I thought I was being smart picking them up ahead of time, I didn't think that would mean the actual tickets would be activated when I redeem the voucher. My understanding was that I would be handed MYW tickets that I could use any time.
The tickets are "activated" when you pick them up because they are not just useless pieces of paper at that moment. The CM "activates" them for use when she dispenses them to you. If you ask the CM if your tickets have been "activated" the answer will be YES!

The actual "14-days until it expires" countdown does not begin until you use the tickets to enter a park (or WWoS, DQ or a waterpark if you have WPF&M). You do not have to add "no expiration" to the ticket unless you anticipate using it over a period of time that goes beyond 14 consecutive days.

And, yes, I've done this before. I have 5-day hoppers that I picked up last fall but have not used. They are still good according to MDE.

Let me put this another way:

The tickets that you pick up at will call will be regular MYW tickets!!!!!
They are no different than tickets that you might purchase from Undercover Tourist or any other authorized seller of Disney tickets.
The only difference is that you will pick your tickets up at a Disney ticket booth instead of having them mailed to you!!!!!

FYI - the Orbitz 20% offer is ending TONIGHT! It's part of the "Shop Entertainment, Spa, and Travel Week with Double Cash Back" Don't wait!

In need of a ticket guru! If I buy 9 day no expiration tickets which is the closest price to the regular AP Then we use the tickets once. I can then go and upgrade to an AP? So basically 20% off of an AP price?

That is what I thought when I bought them, but the little voice inside my head told me to call and double check. Now, I don't know what to think. I believe this is what happened for you last fall. I just don't know if this is a different promotion and therefore somehow a different ticket and not the the regular MYW ticket. Either that or the reps at orbitz do not know their products and what they are selling. I am not going to worry about it, I will find out when I am at Disney in three weeks and deal with it one way or another then. I do appreciate you explaining your experience and I truly hope it will be the same for me and everyone else buying these tickets with the same expectations.

As long as the ticket you buy does not cost more than an AP and you use the ticket once, you will be given credit for the gate price of whatever ticket you upgrade. You just need to make sure the GATE price of whatever ticket you plan to buy is not more than the normal cost of an AP.

I would like to ask a question, please. I see people recommending to use their ticket at least once before upgrading it. Why is that? Is it only if you are upgrading to an AP? Thank you!!!

I thought it- you wrote it! :rotfl2: Never would have thought the original post would have turned into a 19 page thread! All will be calm tomorrow when the deal is over.

i am getting ready to pull the trigger on this deal, but i wanted to check here first about some concerns i have. we are arriving at the parks this wednesday, however, the deal will not show up unless i put this friday in. will my tickets be able to be redeemed 2 days prior to the dates i entered?

also, my plan is to upgrade them to the dvc pap special, do we need to enter the park first, or can this all be done (tickets picked up & upgraded) at our dvc resort before we go into the parks.

I see that Ebates has the 20% off for tickets, 6% cash back for room only, but only 2% for packages.

If I do 2 separate transactions on Orbitz (1 for tickets and 1 for room), will I be able to take advantage of both discounts or will Ebates lump it together as a package?

For whatever reason, that is how the Disney computer system is set up. If you don't use it at least once, you will have to pay the difference in the price you actually paid and the ticket you want to upgrade to. Once you use it, the Disney system assumes it's a regular ticket so you get credit for the gate price.

Wow great to know!!! Thank you so much!!!!

If Orbitz won't let you order your tickets for this coming Wednesday, it's because they may not be able to have your order information transmitted to Disney in time. If you order for Friday, then it is very possible that you will not be able to pick up your tickets before that date.

You cannot do ticket upgrades at the resorts. You have to do them at guest services in the parks, DtD or a waterpark or at one of the ticket windows at any of those locations. If you do not use the ticket prior to upgrading, then you will not receive credit for the gate price of the ticket to use toward your upgrade. You will receive the price that Disney sold the ticket to Orbitz for.

Your ticket purchase would be considered to be a separate transaction from your hotel reservation as far as Ebates is concerned. Orbitz also sees it as two separate sales - one for a room, the other for tickets. They won't get lumped together to make a package.

The CSR is wrong. Period.

thank you for this info. do you now if orbitz emails you a voucher immediately? I do not see anything on there about not being able to use the voucher right away so I wasn't sure. I did read that some people were getting their magic code within 24 hours of purchasing from orbitz so it seems like disney would have the info quickly? I'm wondering if I should take the risk on the info being there and hope it all works out....

Great! Thank you so much. This would end up saving me over $300 total and let's us get a chance to try the Wilderness Lodge!

sorry for this repost, I don't think I did it right the first time:

So I had the same conversation with an Orbitz rep today and I told her that I thought she was wrong. She connected the call with Disney Ticketing. The Disney CM confirmed the tickets are not "active" or the 14 day countdown does NOT start until you enter the park for the first time.

Yes, you should get the email right away, but I believe the confirmation after you purchase is the same as your voucher.

"Redemption of this Will Call Certificate is not valid until 72 hours after purchase date."

OK, i get that if you physically go to WDW and exchange your vouchers for tickets, that they dont expire. But I dont live anywhere close to WDW. Can I buy the vouchers for any month in 2014, and instead redeem them in 2015?

so if I purchase right now and put the date as this fri, the voucher can be redeemed starting this Tuesday night (72 hours)? I wouldn't redeem until wed though, enter the park and upgrade it to a DVD pap.
