How does eating meal at Cinderella's castle or other "eat with characters" work? Does Dinner Plan play into this or mutually exclusive?

thanks

If you book an ADR at CRT they will take your credit card info and charge it if you are not on the DP.

Most of the other ADR's it doesn't make any difference if you are on the DP or not (Dinner shows are the same as CRT). They will bring you a receipt at the end of your meal that you can pay in cash, credit card or your KTTW card if you have charging privilages.

If you are still checking prices and trying to decide if you are going to get the DP, remember that CRT includes the gratuity and tax with the DP.

The Dining Plan is just one way to pay for meals. It has nothing to do with the meals or character events themselves. There's no advantage or disadvantage to DDP with any dining arrangements at WDW.

As mentioned above, some of the character events will take a credit card to guarantee the ADR, whether or not you are using DDP. The card only gets charged if you no-show without cancelling within the cancellation guidelines.

If you are looking into using the dining plan, Cinderella's castle "costs" two dining plan credits, while all other character meals count only one. In planning on what to do with your dining credits, it is sometimes helpful to realize that one character meal in the castle will cost you as much as two character meals elsewhere.

Most WDW restaurants accept the Disney dining plan, including all of the character meals (except for the one that is offered at the Swan/Dolphin; these are not Disney properties and their restaurants don't participate).

Of the character meals, Cinderella's is supposed to be paid in full at booking. If you tell them you are using the dining plan, they will take your credit card information to charge a no-show fee if you don't cancel within a couple of days and don't appear for the reservation.

The Epcot princess meals (Akershus in Norway) will not charge in full at booking but will always take a credit card number for a no-show charge.

No credit information should be required at booking for any other character meal.

If you don't have the dining plan you will just pay for the meals as usual.

Here's a little planning trick, depending on what time you arrive in your hotel
you can use your arriving Dinner as and extra meal,

So lets say your flying (or driving) and you get in around 9pm, just grab the kids a snack or use your quick service meal since you will have that credit also.
and then use that arrival evenings Dinner credit along as an extra meal credit towards the princess dinner.
