Eating outside the Park

Hi,

We are staying at Disney and visiting for one day. We are debating whether to get the all day dining plan or whether we can eat outside the park at a Wendys for example. Are there any places in walking distance from the park entrance? We would prefer to do this as we have our evening meal booked back at Disney and would have to cancle it if we did all day dining.

From SeaWorld there is nothing within easy walking distance. Although there are several places located around the park they are all on the back or the side of the park, nothing right out front.

Taco Bell would be the closest one, it is just past the entrance to Discovery Cove. Once you get there a number of places are close by (Flippers Pizza, Hurricanes, Moes and one still being built either a Chili's or an Applebee's). But getting there is the key. If walking you would have to walk through the main parking lot to Central Florida, cross the street, and walk past DC. It is definitely doable, just depends on if you meant someplace you could get to in 3 minutes. There is a Bonefish Grill that is slightly closer.

Coming from Aquatica is slightly easier because there are at least some places on the same side of the road (Firehouse Subs, Mellow Mushroom, Panera) but with construction along International Drive I would not want to walk along it right now.

My suggestion - just eat in the park somewhere out of pocket for lunch, if you did not want to change your evening plans.

There are lots of places you can eat in the park without paying for the all-day dining.

It would be a trek from the front gate of SW to any places to eat if you plan on walking. From the road entrance where you come into SW property it is a mile or so drive just to the parking pay stations. Then you drive to the parking lots. Probably best to drive to a near by place if you really want to leave. You could walk across the parking lot from the entrance to the park itself and walk about 3 or 4 blocks, cross International Drive but still a walk. There are places to eat right next to the hotel and Aquatica but not sure it would actually save you money. Just down from the intersection of International Drive and Central Florida Parkway there is a Wendys and the other way a Wawas; but I really think once you are in the park you won't want to waste the time going outside the park to eat. You could judge if you want to venture out because you actually are guided down this street to make the turn to the front entrance to the parking lots. Since you have a big meal planned at WDW you could probably get by with eating lighter at SW or even just doing snacks like popcorn or ice cream. If you like fajitas we have often just gotten them at Sea Fire and shared because you can make 3 or 4 from 1 meal.

Just pay a la carte for your mid-day meal at whatever restaurant appeals to you. You can dine at Sharks Underwater Grill if you're looking for table service, or any of the multitude of counter service options if you are seeking something quicker and less expensive. Voyagers Smokehouse specializes in ribs and chicken, Mama's Pretzel Kitchen offers a variety of pretzel-based entrees (pretzel dogs, sausages, pizza, etc.), SeaFire Grill features fajitas and other entrees, Spice Mill has great burgers/pulled pork/etc., Mango Joes has wraps and sandwiches, Terrace BBQ offers various barbecue entrees, and the list goes on. If you are looking for a fun dessert, have the Shamu Sundae at Manta soft serve. Its big enough for two to split, comes in an adorable Shamu souvenir bowl, and is only $6.99.
