eating outside of Disney

:cool1: :hippie: I remember about 1997 & 1998 going over to Kissimmee on 192 to TGI Fridays and the wait staff would bring your drinks to the table balanced on the heads. About 2000 or 2001 they were not allowed to do that anymore. I think there is a map on line somewhere of all he restaurants and stores along 192 and they have marker posts to to help you locate where you are on the map. This may be the place to go as Disney cuts the value of the DDP.

My favorite restaurant in Orlando is the Celebration Town Tavern. Also, I find some of the restauants at DD and City Walk have great food and reasonable prices. We had an absolute blast at Pat O'Briens this summer.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Bahama Breeze. It's a chain, but not one that we have around where I live - so it felt like vacation to me.

The meal was very good, and quite reasonably priced (since we were already used to Disney pricing)

We spent a non-park, long weekend in Orlando recently. We loved Bahama Breeze. I was kind of surprised, for some reason. The atmosphere & food were both great. We also had a good meal at Kobe Japanese Steakhouse.

On a not-so-positive note, I'd avoid the Red Lobster at the Crossroads. There was 4 of us, & noone enjoyed their meal. We won't be going to a RL again anytime soon.

We love dining on the patio @ Pat O's. That's where we usually go, when we're in the mood for a casual dinner at UO. Our favorite Universal restaurant is Emeril's though. Actually, it's our favorite Orlando restaurant.

It's hard to go wrong at CityWalk. The only restaurant I wouldn't return to is Bob Marley's. It's an open restaurant, & the air doesn't circulate well. It can feel like a sauna in there. The food is fine though. I would only go to Hard Rock Cafe, if I was with someone who really wanted to experience eating there. The last time we ate there the food was awful.

Oh Cracker Barrel! Bob and I had our second wedding (this time legal) - long story, there. The one in Formosa Gardens. Started the ceremony on the porch, names were called and finished up at the table.

Needless to say, the waitress was stunned - brought us really great shortcake dessert. Manager came by and said, "Wow, we have had weddings out on the porch but never inside."

Honestly, it was very low-key with only about 5 other people in our party. We did not bother anyone:rotfl2:

And there was no cell-phone involvement - I promise:thumbsup2

Thank you everyone!!:worship: DISers are the best! All the suggestions are great and have made it into the BIG BOOK OF DISNEY (my little helpful book). I really loved that map of 192 - every restaurant you could ever want and more!! Very helpful.

Can anybody recommend restaurants that are close to Disney that feature a few good vegetarian dishes? (DH eats meat and fish, I do not). Thanks!

There's a Fudruckers in the Crossroads shopping center.

there are resturaunts outside of Disney?!!!

seriously the only place i've ever ate outside of disney was flipper's pizza, and it was great. we discovered flipper's pizza several years ago and make it a point to try to order one when we are in town or go by there and eat. i have tired several of thier pasta and sandwiche entree's and they are good as well. price is about $15-20 for large pizza and pasta dishes are all under $12. It's not much of a place to look at but delicous food. Google flippers pizza, there are several locations in orlando and depending on which side of the 'world' you are on one may be closer than the next.

DH and I enjoy the Celebration Towne Tavern. It is near the lake and you can eat outside or in.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
