Eating on Holllywood Studios Day

Like someone else said the cheese burgers at Sci-Fi are awesome, so are the onion rings and milkshakes. Ribs are really good, and the artichoke spinach dip is to die for. I don't know why this place gets such bad reviews this is a must do for me each trip.

We enjoyed 50's Prime Time, Mama Melrose, and we are trying out Sci-Fi this September. There are a lot of bad reviews about the dining choices at the studios so if I were you I would take the suggestion of the PP and look at the menus of each of the different restaurants before booking. Also, as for CS, stay away from ABC Commissary that one is really aweful, however if your kids are into Toy Story, there is TS Pizza Planet (not good food, but the atmosphere is fun). Good Luck!!!!

On our Hollywood Studios night, we're going to walk over (or take the boat) to the Beach Club and go to the "clam bake" buffet ! :cool1: We LOVE that restaurant and my DH wanted to eat there, so we thought that would be a great night to do it. If he can get mussels and shrimp, he's a happy boy. We're eating lunch at Sci-Fi, but really, there weren't any restaurants in that park that we wanted to eat at for dinner.

For TS on our DHS days, we go to the Boardwalk. We enjoyed our meal at Kouzzina during our November trip.

We have thought about leaving DHS for dinner because EPCOT, BC/YC (where we stay) and Boardwalk are all in the area. But with three kids (and we also have three kids) we find it much easier to stay at DHS and reduce travel time.

We really like Mama Melrose and Brown Derby. If you go early enough (and are not on the dining plan using 2 TS credits) we think Brown Derby can be a good option for kids. The kids' menu is good, and if you get a table by the window, they can see the Sorcerer's Hat and all the traffic outside. Since one of our three kids is a pre-schooler, we don't order multiple courses there and we're out in about an hour. (Although our pre-schooler was doing great for our lunch there in March, so we had time for grapefruit cake!)

Mama Melrose is also a great kid-friendly option - we like the food and the atmosphere. And we always stop to see Lightning McQueen down the street before (and sometimes after) dinner!

We have tried the Sci Fi for both lunch and dinner, and prefer lunch. Although some have mentioned that you can still order burgers for dinner, even though they are not on the dinner menu. That's what we would do if we went back. It's a fun place to try at least once, but our boys don't care for the old movies, and it's tough to seat a family of five in the cars. (We sit with our older boys in the front row and my husband and I share our seat with our pre-schooler.) We also can't really talk to the kids with that seating arrangement. But again, it's very fun to try at least once!

I agree with PoohsFan on the counter service - we have Toy Story fans, so we deal with the Pizza Planet food so that they can enjoy the atmosphere. I recently asked our boys about just stopping by Pizza Planet for the arcade but not eating there. They said it's not the same if you don't eat there. I think I'll try the caprese salad next time to avoid the pizza - anyone had good luck with that?

We ate at Mama Melrose and it was fine, but be sure to get an ADR because they weren't taking any walkups when we had our 4 pm Fantasmic dinner package.

It depends if you are planning on staying the whole day and watching Fantasmic? If I was gonna do the whole day with 3 little ones i'd go back to POFQ and have a rest/swim/nap dinner at the food court then head back to watch fantasmic. If you want to eat at DHS I'd try and get an early evening ADR for where ever has the fantasmic dinner package available. We go to Sci Fi every trip and like Mamma Melrose too. Whilst I like to head over to the Boardwalk/EPCOT for dinner and then go back to DHS or anywhere else I'm not sure I would do it with little ones in tow. You might be in meltdown territory if it's been a long day and it always takes longer than you think to travel between the parks. Got to agree with the others about the CS at DHS the only one we like is Starring rolls next to the Brown Derby but I think it closes quite early.

:goodvibes
