I have vague memories of eating in the castle when I was a kid. This would be late 80s/early 90s. The one thing that really stands out is Mickey shaped butter. Did they really have this or is this one of those memories I've just convinced myself is true over the years?

Do they (or did they) have Mickey shaped butter anywhere at WDW?

You aren't dreaming, they used to have it. And it wasn't just at the castle.

I remember hearing stories that kids were refusing to let their parents cut the butter because it was shaped like Mickey. Don't know if that was a Disney urban legend or not.

No more Mickey shaped butter anywhere on property, I'm afraid.

They definitely had the Mickey butter back in the late 70's-early 80's. The plates and goblets were also some sort of heavy metal. I remember the butter because I asked my mom if I could bring some home. I think the butter was actually square shaped, but had the imprint of Mickey ears on top of the earth imprinted on the butter.

The one I remember was actually molded butter shaped like Mickey's full body.

Yes,there was a full body Mickey butter standing sadly on the plate waiting to be spread on the warm fresh bread brought with him. Nobody wanted to eat him, but the fragrance of the bread called out and Mickey didn't have a chance! :rotfl2:

I definately remember the mickey shaped butter from eating there as a kid. It was probably '83 or '85 maybe? I also remember the metal/pewter style plates and how cool it was to be in the castle. I also remember just "running into" Cinderella around MK back then like a lot of the characters were doing.

I remember seeing the Mice at the castle! But not the butter. I went around 96 I think, so perhaps it was gone by then?

It was also called King Stefan's which I took great delight informing my parents that Disney screwed up! "He's Sleeping Beauty's dad, not Cinderella's." I was also happy when they fixed it.

I remember that! King Stefan's Banquet Hall! And the drinks were served in metal steins! That was fun :goodvibes

::yes:: ::yes::

Some other WDW restaurants used to have the molded full body Mickeys in the 80s too. But King Stephan's had them the latest I think.

We had the mickey face shaped butter at Liberty Tree Tavern in '82. I don't remember the butter, but we had a great time at King Stefan's. And we got to watch the fireworks right outside the window!

We had the butter that was molded like a standing Mickey Mouse at CRT in 1994. He did look cute, but I had no problem cutting his bum off so I could butter my bread. :laughing:

I also remember the butter pats. It was 3 flat circles in the shape of Mickey's head on a cardboard square. I remember that butter at the Pueblo Room (or something like that) at the Contemporary back in the late 70's. Boy, I feel old typing that. :eek:

And the Hollywood Brown Derby had derby hat shaped butter. And I remember getting chocolates at the TS places with your bill.

Kae

I could swear they also had Mickey shaped butter at the Liberty Tree Tavern - the only sit down place we ate at when we went in '84, but it was also Thanksgiving week so that may be why.
