Eating in Hollywood Studios

I'm working on my touring plans. We are not doing ADR's and will be getting a condo. We will be taking a break on our HS day and will try to eat something basic at the condo before returning to park for Fantasmic. My goal is to arrive in time for Frozen Sing a Long at 6:30 (assuming the show time stays the same).

Where is a good place to get dessert and maybe a cocktail between Frozen Sing A long and time to get in line for Fantasmic? I am not one of those people who like to get there super early for the "best seat". I'm thinking we will have an hour between to the two shows to grab dessert and maybe a cocktail.

50's Primetime has a lounge. We can order dessert there is well, correct? Is it just the bar or is there any table seating? We are a party of 5.

How expensive is Brown Derby Lounge? I assume there may be dessert options. We only have two drinkers in the party of 5 so there needs to be something for everyone.

Any other good dessert options at that time?

I am completely underwhelmed by the QS options at HS. I have decided that it is Disney's way of getting people to upgrade to park hoppers so they can run over to Epcot to eat as that is what I have considered doing.

You can also get desserts at DS which isn't that far away transport wise from HS. I'm partial to Sprinkle's but there are many other options.

OP, for drinks and dessert, I sugggest taking the boat to/from the Boardwalk. The bakery and Ample Hills ice cream parlor are outstanding for desserts. You can choose from kiosks or Abracadabar for drinks.

It’s a scenic place, and you might even catch some live entertainment.

Those desserts sound wonderful but I didn't see a price. The drink prices are what I would expect for Disney or even a decent local bar. Are they super tiny, perhaps? LOL

If you are going to eat at a quick service....I would suggest Backlot Express. We have always had a good experience there!

Yes! And I've visited on multiple trips. Love it! The kids really like the black cherry soda (just in case you have some who don't consume alcohol with you). I was going to comment that for the fireworks shows, we like to get the Darth Vader cupcakes at Backlot and drinks at Tap House.

It does, but is bar only with no tables. It's often quite crowded. Unfortunately, I think the odds of getting five bar stools next to each other are pretty slim. You can certainly try, but it's not something I'd count on.

They have a dessert trio - select 3 out of 5 or 6 options. For some reason the menu doesn't show a price point. I've never ordered dessert but both the restaurant and lounge are favorites of ours.

It is... but I'm not sure there are traditional dessert options. For me a beer and a pretzel sounds perfect but I'm not a sweets person. ETA - I like the above suggestion to get cupcakes and bring them over to Baseline!

Have you looked at the Fantasmic Dessert Party? You get a drink, desserts and a seat in the reserved viewing section. We haven't done it yet, so I'm not sure what time you could pick up your drink & desserts and head for your seats, but might be nice to sit outside & enjoy before the show.

In the fall of 2017 the trio of mini desserts cost $11.00.

It would be tight due to travel time, which can be at least 20 minutes each way. If you had 1.5 to 2 hours, then it would be a practical plan.

It is, and its a nice place for a break during the day. Unfortunately, they have a very small selection beer and drinks and a smaller selection of food (as the menu you linked to shows).

It depends. We usually walk from Boardwalk to HS and it takes us about 15 minutes. If you can catch a boat at the right time, it may be shorter. I'm not sure 1 hour is reasonable. 90 minutes would not be a problem and would be mor enjoyable.

We love Brown Derby Lounge, I'm not sure what time it closes though so make sure you check that. We also love the inside of Brown Derby but since they opened the lounge and I can get a Cobb Salad there, we haven't eaten inside. Tap House is a craft beer place and doesn't have traditional desserts, we love it but I wouldn't go there for drinks and a dessert. 50s lounge is great but we have never been there when it hasn't been jam packed and we have had to stand just sort of kind of near the bar.

Have you factored in the time getting back and forth to the car and condo? Personally it seems like that trek, even if the condo is close by, would be a real time waster. Even leaving the park when staying on site can suck up a lot of time. Even if you book a TS meal you are not locked in to ordering and entree. If you just want something light you can order a couple apps, drinks and dessert. SO you don't have to rule out a TS meal.

There is a brown derby lounge area you could try, you can even get some apps there. If you are really looking for a break I would consider the boardwalk area as there are a number of restaurants there too. but getting to and from the BW area would take longer than an hour. The tap house is more beers i believe and limited selection of apps.

I am a firm believer in taking breaks. Our condo is one of the closer ones and I don't think it takes any more time to take a break than it would on Disney transportation but we shall see. I don't think I can handle a park from open to close. Mamma needs a nap.
