Eating healthy at Disneyland? No! Anyone with me?

Fantastic photos and not doing much for my PMS. :rotfl2: I agree about sharing. We do the same with our family of 5 and it works out perfectly. :thumbsup2

I love the sourdough bread Mickeys!! We get one every time we go, except if it's Halloweentime. Then we get a sourdough jack-o-lantern.

If it's chilly, then my husband is all about the soup. Either the bread bowl soup:

Or the Carnation Cafe soup. Both are heavenly!! :cloud9:

I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of the churros, but there is something about a Mickey pretzel.

My daughter loves the nachos from WWS, so that would be her fave DL food.

My son HAS to have a funnel cake or his trip simply isn't complete.

And my other daughter insists on a cinnamon roll.

We are definitely a fan of vacation food. It's part of the whole experience. I will say that the best thing we do as a family of 6 though, is to buy one or two of something we like, and share, share, share. Saves money and most importantly saves room for more variety of snacks. :thumbsup2

We were at DL Nov-Dec of 2010 on our last visit. Up until then I had never tried the sugar cookies, tigger tails, bread bowls, etc.. After reading and seeing all of the food photos here, I made sure to try as much food as possible. The food ended up being a highlight of the trip! I was in heaven, still fantasizing about my first tigger tail.:cloud9:

Food is such a thread of the trip for us. Not to be stuffed but the fun and excitement of that first Mickey Bar or churro of the trip and the fantastic memories that come flooding back.

We discovered the funnel cakes when we were there one Dec. We did share the brownie one. It's the PP's picture of funnel cake on the left! It was a huge hit with my family.

We do a lot of sharing, too. That way we can have some of everything and not feel gross.

But nobody's mentioned the kettle corn in DTD. We LOVE that stuff. I'm a huge caramel popcorn fan - and I like the kettle corn even better. We can sometimes get kettle corn around here during craft fairs or holiday stuff, but we never seem to buy it. We just talk about how good the kettle corn is at DTD and move on. I guess that's how we savor the memory. :confused3 It's almost like we don't want to ruin the specialness of kettle corn! (silly, I know)

I'm not a huge fan of churro's or corn dogs, but love the lobster nachos. DS 7 (who was 5 at the time) loves the ice cream at Gibson Girl. We got some cones on our way out of DL one night and ate them while walking down Main Street and out to our hotel. DS 9 (7 then) couldn't finish his and my little teeny 5 yr. old was most happy to finish it for him! :lmao:

That brownie funnel cake looks good, rich, definitely to share. I am not a huge kettle corn lover (not fattening enough) but my kids love kettle corn. The lobster nachos are getting rave reviews; they are on the ever growing must-have list.

Sharing seems to be the way a lot of us enjoy our treats without feeling sick. :thumbsup2

The kid and I don't do a lot of sharing because we have a hard time agreeing on what to get. lol However, 31 days to go and he'll eat anything I want in the park(s) so lots of treat sharing is in my near future. Lobster nachos and a libation or two is definitely on my list.

Mmm....Gibson Girl for lunch! :thumbsup2

:goodvibes I would be more cautious if my stomach got upset easily. I think the only thing that saves me is drinking copious amounts of water. I probably drink at 64 oz of water a day- vacation is no exception. I also try not to eat super late even at Disneyland. I don't sleep well if I eat right before bed.

It definitely earned me cool mom points. :thumbsup2

I drink a lot of water too and especially when we're on vacation. My tummy sometimes gets very unhappy with grease and dairy though so I have to be careful.

Ribs??? Who has ribs? :hyper: I love anything pumpkin too.

Big Thunder Ranch Barbeque has ribs! Their food is fantastic and its ALL YOU CAN EAT for $20. They refill your ribs, beans, corn, etc when you want more. Even the lemonades are free refills. I think its the best meal deal there :)

Libations are on the list for sure. :thumbsup2

:cool1: I bet!

They say, though I'm unsure who they are, that water is the best thing to drink. :thumbsup2

Do you let you take leftovers? Those sorts of leftovers might be worth re-heating the villa. Do you have chicken?

I don't know if they let you take it to go. That is a great idea though. YES, they have chicken! The 2nd time I went there, the ribs were slightly not as juicy as 1st time but i've always love their chickens! This is what included: ribs, chicken, sausage, baked beans, coleslaw, cornbread, and lemonade.
I think its worth an extra few bucks to eat there compare to eating other places at Disneyland because I enjoyed the quiet and relaxing outdoor area. Note, they will tell you about 30 minute wait but I've only waited 15 minutes. :)

I believe a year, maybe two ago, they stopped letting you take leftovers from the BTRBBQ. People were over ordering to do this. It's not safe to carry fresh food around for hours so wasn't always a practical idea either.

Thanks for the info, sounds great! :thumbsup2 It doesn't seem much more expensive.

Didn't you ever eat pizza left out for days in college? I'm not scared. ;) Staying at the GCV enables us to bring it back to the villa but as they don't allow you to take the leftovers, it isn't an issue. :goodvibes
