Eating healthy at Disneyland? No! Anyone with me?

During the holiday season you can find the peppermint cones at Gibson Girl on Main Street. You can get the delicious peppermint ice cream in a regular/plain cone, in a cup, in a chocolate-covered-with-red-and-green sprinkles cone OR - the one I had last December - in a chocolate-covered cone encrusted with peppermint candy chunks!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Yummy!!!!!! I love me some peppermint ice cream!:cool1:

That sounds UNREAL! I am going to have to have DH get one so I can have a little taste. I love a good waffle cone. :cloud9:

Ditto what I told nunzia above...

In fact, if anyone recalls seeing my "Evil Chair and the Peppermint Cone of Death...a Christmas Tale" trip report floating around for a while in the TR section late last year and this year (it's part of one big multi-TR thread that is linked below in my signature), the "Peppermint Cone of Death" in question was bought at Gibson Girl.

Just don't try to set a camera down on a trash can to take a photo and hold the melting ice cream cone at the same time, or you could put your camera, the cone and the trash can in peril. That's all I'm sayin.':rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1 (Not that I did anything so foolish, of course....:rolleyes1:rolleyes1)

:rotfl2: Did you do that? Do you have a link to the page it's on in your tr?

My mom and I will be there in 2 days and she keeps telling people we are going to eat our way through DL.... We are doing the Fantasmic Desert box, We are having a character breakfast, I have plans for Cinnamon rolls and a mocha, We are going to have lobster nachos and a long island ice tea, soup and bread bowls, and Mickey beignets.... so ya we are going to eat out way through DL...:rotfl:

Have a magical trip! I'd love to hear how you like the Fantasmic seating? It's on my maybe list. Who sells lobster nachos?????

While I try very hard to keep my body on schedule foodwise while we are on vacation, I have no qualms about changing up our regular diet if the mood strikes us. We had ice cream from Gibson girls for lunch 2 of our 3 days in March. lol

While I do eat things at the park that I don't at home (enter corn dogs, churros and coffee) I don't do a lot of it. Honestly, most of what I don't eat isn't about it being unhealthy. It's because it upsets my tummy and DLR is no fun with an upset tummy. Dangit. :cool2:

Mmm....Gibson Girl for lunch! :thumbsup2

:goodvibes I would be more cautious if my stomach got upset easily. I think the only thing that saves me is drinking copious amounts of water. I probably drink at 64 oz of water a day- vacation is no exception. I also try not to eat super late even at Disneyland. I don't sleep well if I eat right before bed.

I love the fresh carmel corn over in DCA. It's on my must eat list along with churros, corn dogs and chocolate covered bananas.

After reading this thread I realize there are quite a few things I have never tried. Going next Sun for my 2 yr old grandson's first visit so I plan on trying a Dole Whip, Bengal BBQ kabob and a few other things.

Thanks for all the tips!

:thumbsup2 Have fun! There are a lot of fun Fall treats too- don't miss those. Who sells fresh caramel corn?

Where do you get the bread-soup bowls in DCA? Those sound so good.

Pacific Wharf Cafe in DCA- right on the pier. They are so good.

I'd like to know too. My DD had a pumpkin frozen custard last night...... holy moly.

I don't know but it is bette! DH says the sane thing. My kids generally prefer Sprite when they have a soda but with DL popcorn even they prefer Coke. :cloud9:

DANG..I really need to know where this Pumpkin Frozen custard is...:worship: and yep..going for the peppermint ice cream while DH has his usual big old chocolate thing. I wonder if the peppermint is the same they serve at Mickey's Soda Shoppe? On our Backstage Magic ABD they took us there and our guide suggested the peppermint.was soooo good..

Thank you! :lovestruc

You're welcome.

The popcorn cart over by Soarin and Aladdin Theater.

I think we are going to need a bag of that for the long walk back to the GCV.

There is a local place by us called Farr's and they make the most insane custard and ice creams. :lovestruc

You did the Backstage Magic ABD? I bet that was a blast! Did you post about it?

Ahhhh, nothing like the fresh churros as DL!!! Can't wait till our trip in November!!

Mmmm.....hot and sweet!

Great thread.
Has funnel cake come up yet? We love it, though on a different day from our Monte cristo meal (DH gets the cristo, I get the Bananas Foster crepe and beignets for my meal). We eat healthy-ish in our villa then do one or two calorie-indulgent meals in the park. Crepes with bavarian creme at the DTD cart also awesome, and we can't get enough Mickey bars. Was disappointed to miss the creme brulee at BB this trip with Pirates closed. Recently tried lava cake at Rainforest Cafe and enjoyed that very much ...
Sigh ... corndogs how I miss thee ...
I do wish DLR wouldn't make me ask for fries and soda instead of apple slices and juice ... I know why they do it but I like eating fries and drinking lemonade on vacation!

Funnel cakes! I think Stage Door sells them. My son claims he's never had one so they are also on the list. Knott's Berry Farm sells the best funnel cake. :lovestruc: No way I'm going though. But their fried chicken and boysenberry punch are both amazing. I agree, don't ask me, I'll tell them if I want the healthier option....which clearly I don't.

Back to Dosneyland.....

We were at DL Nov-Dec of 2010 on our last visit. Up until then I had never tried the sugar cookies, tigger tails, bread bowls, etc.. After reading and seeing all of the food photos here, I made sure to try as much food as possible. The food ended up being a highlight of the trip! I was in heaven, still fantasizing about my first tigger tail.:cloud9:

I have no idea how much they are but they have Mickey shaped loafs.

I love the sourdough bread Mickeys!! We get one every time we go, except if it's Halloweentime. Then we get a sourdough jack-o-lantern.

If it's chilly, then my husband is all about the soup. Either the bread bowl soup:

Or the Carnation Cafe soup. Both are heavenly!! :cloud9:

I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of the churros, but there is something about a Mickey pretzel.

My daughter loves the nachos from WWS, so that would be her fave DL food.

My son HAS to have a funnel cake or his trip simply isn't complete.

And my other daughter insists on a cinnamon roll.

We are definitely a fan of vacation food. It's part of the whole experience. I will say that the best thing we do as a family of 6 though, is to buy one or two of something we like, and share, share, share. Saves money and most importantly saves room for more variety of snacks. :thumbsup2
