Eating before a workout

I'm going to start going to the gym before I go to work in the mornings... I'm wondering how much food I should be eating before. I'm thinking it's a good idea to eat a little something like an apple or a cereal bar... Is it a bad idea to workout on an empty stomach?
 
I believe its a very good idea.
I remember once trying to workout before eating and I got light headed (ok so maybe Im a little flaky anyways?).
 
I think it's a good idea to have something in your system. I usually eat breakfast at about 7 and then start my workout at 9, so that gives my stomach time to settle down. Your idea of having an apple or cereal bar is good! Maybe just split your normal breakfast, eat half before your workout and half after? Or have something light for breakfast and then something a little more substantial after you work out? Good luck!
