My sister had complications from a routine jaw surgery a month ago. By the time she goes to WDW in three weeks she will only be able to eat soups, mashed potatoes, and hopefully noodles or other things of that consistency. Her family will be on the free counter service dining plan. I have looked at the menus and found very few options but thought maybe someone here would have some ideas or suggestions. Thanks for any ideas.

If they can swing the extra $$, I would recommend they bump up to the regular dining plan. Hit the buffets and then she would have a few options at every meal.

I agree with you. I would think her dining options would be very limited with the quick service dining plan.

Don't forget that the snacks from either plan an be used for smoothies, yogurts, etc as well. I had jaw surgery years ago and I know it will be difficult for her, so I wish her well.

The issue with counter service is that they are very limited in what they can do to accommodate special diets, as they are limited by whatever ingredients they have for their standard orders. Table service would definitely offer a wider variety of options.

That being said, a number of CS places offer Amy's brand mac and cheese on their special diet menu. If you contact WDW special diets in advance, they can tell you which places have it. Taste wise it's okay, it gets kind of meh after you eat it multiple times, but it could certainly work. I know we got it at Columbia Harbor House at MK and Restaurantosaurus at AK.

Hope she feels better soon,
Mary

Counter services in the parks will likely be unable to prepare special dishes for her. Those in the resorts may have an easier time doing so. If she is staying at a resort with a full food court, they will have multiple options. Deluxe resorts may not have those options.

Where is she staying? If her room will have a fridge, she might want to keep some food in the room. Options include:

- using a towncar service to get from the airport to the hotel. Tiffany Towncar includes a stop at a grocery store

- renting a car and stopping at a grocery store

- GardenGrocer.com delivers food to Disney hotels

-WeGoShop.com delivers food to Disney hotels

- the Disney resorts with DVC villas have grocery items in the gift shop. The selection will be smaller than the above options. She could stop at the Contemporary after a day at the Magic Kingdom or if she is staying at a nearby hotel. She could stop at the Beach Club or Boardwalk after a day at Epcot, or if she is staying at a nearby hotel.

She'll have to figure out what she can eat to determine if this would be worthwhile.
