Sunday we did a "photo day" at Animal Kingdom where we just went around taking pictures of the different animals. It was very nice and non-rushed. I got some OK pictures and FI the photographer got some really good ones!
I also made reservations for a Tusker House lunch. After checking in at the podium we were told to take a seat near the bar and our name would be called. Here's a picture of the ceiling (I was bored!)
Our name was called after approximately 10 minutes and we were escorted to a table, passing the buffet area along the way.
Our waitress was at our table so we put in a drink order and headed back to the buffet without sitting down.
My first plate:
Obviously I'm not one of those people who can load a plate well.
On this plate I had top sirloin roast, pork loin, mashed potatoes and gravy, horseradish, and a spicy sauce that went with the pork.
My favorite of this entire meal was the top sirloin roast. It was really really good. It had a garlicy rub on the top and it was seasoned perfectly. The pork loin was a little too moist for me because I have an preference for overcooked pork. My mother has instilled a fear of rare pork in me.
The horseradish was good as was the spicy sauce that went with the pork. The mashed potatoes were pretty good too, but I didn't like the gravy. It had a funny taste to it.
FI's first plate:
He had the top sirloin, pork, yukon gold potato wedges, and a chicken drumstick. His favorite were the potato wedges! He said that the chicken wing was pretty tasteless and bland.
My second plate:
I had the endive, apple, and walnut salad with blue cheese, a vegetable samosa, salmon, and chocolate-orange bread. The chocolate-orange bread was pretty yummy. The salad was covered in a really sour dressing and barely had any walnuts at all. I really thought that I would enjoy this salad since everything it contains I really like, but the dressing ruined it. I couldn't even enjoy the apples! The salmon was tasty and well cooked, but there wasn't a lot of it out. The vegetable samosa was bland and the veggies were way over cooked.
FI's second plate:
He had the Basmati rice with toasted almonds, vegetable samosa, root vegetables, and a roll. He said that everything but the vegetable samosa was pretty standard. No one like the samosa.
Then it was onto dessert! I got:
Here we have a strawberry mousse in chocolate cup, chocolate chip cookie, chocolate cake, and chocolate cake with pomegranates. My favorite was a tie between the strawberry mousse and the chocolate cake with pomegranates, yummy!!!!!! The chocolate cake was good, but way to rich for me.
FI's plate:
He had a brownie, strawberry mouse in chocolate cup, oatmeal raisin cookie, lemon bar, and carrot spice cake. The spice cake was his favorite, but he made a face when he bit into the lemon bar. It was too sour for him!
We also shared a bowl of bread pudding which I found very yummy and wonderfully spiced. FI didn't like the texture I think.
All in all this was an ok meal. If we went back I would get a big plate of top sirloin, salmon, and potatoes. And then a big plate of desserts!
I'll leave you with an interior shot of the restaurant. It was all light walls with dark wood so we loved it!
Next time: Hopefully we'll be able to get some pictures at Ohana's (dinner) and we may be going to Raglan Road soon. A harpist that we spoke to about playing at our ceremony plays at the Grand Floridan on Monday nights so we figured we'd go check her out!
