Eating at Tambu Lounge?

I'd like to eat at Tambu Lounge (Polynesian) next November. The nachos and bread pudding look awesome.

I'm a little wary of the Ohana crowds, though. I've eaten at Ohana only once, but the lounge area was slammed-- not a free seat to be found. I'd happily sit at the bar to eat, but I don't remember if those seats were all taken or not.

I realize they don't start serving food until 5. Does anyone have any experience ordering food here, and can you recommend a good time to go that wouldn't entail struggling for a place to sit and eat? I read that going right around 5-5:15 might work as Ohana guests are being moved inside.

This is probably a dumb question but on a related tambu lounge note - can you get a lapu lapu to go?

I would recommend around 5-530. For ire earlier is better.
And yes, all drinks can be ordered to go.

We've eaten in the lounge several times, including just last week. We love the wings and the drinks as a snack on the way into the MK. Just be cognizant that if you arrive prior to the opening time of Ohana, you will find the lounge and surrounding waiting area full of families waiting on Ohana to open. As someone previously mentioned, as soon as Ohana began admitting guests, the lounge was a ghost town.

You may actually *want* to sit at the bar - the server waiting on us in the lounge area was abysmal. We've also had EXCELLENT service in the lounge, so it's really hit or miss. The bartenders are predictably great though, each time we visit!

I had a drink at Tambu Lounge last month right before Ohanas opened. As soon as 5pm rolled around, the place filled up

I had these beef slices at Tambu off the appetizer menu. They weren't the best.

Hi-jacking this thread as to not have to start a new one. Does anyone know if you can order food to-go from Tambu Lounge?

I would definitely try to get there when they open. We were there on a Sunday night this past February and it took an hour just to get 2 bread puddings:sad2: They were so overwhelmed trying to get food from the Ohana kitchen the waiter told us it was on the house. Nice, but I would have gladly paid the $10 to have had it 45 mins sooner. I felt bad for the staff because they were at the mercy of the kitchen.

I think the crowds must vary but you certainly couldn't go wrong going earlier. We ate there a few months ago on a Saturday night around 6 and had no issues get a seat and it really wasn't crowded. We found most of the Ohana crowd was hanging out in the chairs by the check in stand

Glad to see this thread! Couldn't get into 'Ohana so I am thinking about doing a few appetizers and bread pudding for dinner next week at the lounge and wondered how it worked. I've eaten at 'Ohana dozens of times but really can't recall seeing any seating at the lounge other than the bar.

It's actually pretty easy to grab a seat at the bar, if you wait for someone to be called for their table. It has changed a bit after they moved the Ohana check in stand to the opposite side of the floor.
