Eating at MK

I'm having a hard time getting excited about eating a CS meal at the MK. DH doesn't care for seafood, so his options at CHH are limited (and we ate there last time - we're trying to eat at all new places). I wanted to do Cosmic Rays for the Chicken and Ribs, but apparently that's no longer available - it's the only thing I've really ever heard about this restaurant, so what else comes recommended? How about Pecos Bills - I think the menus are very similar between PB and CR and nothing is really jumping out at me. What CS restaurant would be the easiest to get to at the monorail resorts and which have good food?

If I were going to leave the park for a break and bite to eat, I'd probably head to Captain Cook's at the Poly. They have lots of interesting options that you can't find at other CS places---plus a Dole Whip machine! :lovestruc

If you're going to stay in the MK, I'd still try Cosmic Ray's. I've only had the rotisserie chicken and burger there, but the chicken was outstanding. The chicken was moist, the mashed potatoes were good and the green beans were surprisingly fresh tasting---not like veggies in a can.

PB and CR do have similar menus, although if you're up for some entertainment -Sonny Eclipse could fit the bill. If you're set on leaving for a meal, I can't say that any of the monorail resorts have any CS that would be much netter than what's in MK. How about taking a boat ride over to Trails End? Not as quick as a monorail ride, but it has good food at a good value.

I'm not a fan of most CS at MK. I've tried alot of the Disboards favorites, but I was just not impressed with the quality or flavor. I've found the chicken at Cosmic Rays to be poor quality & fatty, the tuna sandwich at CHH to be a pool of mayo, the hummus sandwich at CHH to be not good (and hummus is one of my favorite foods!), and the buns at Casey's just ruins it for me.

The few things I do really like though are:
-The sandwiches at Main Street Bakery-great quality and very tasty!
-The chicken nuggets and fries at CHH is very good-standard MK chicken nuggets which I like. I'm assuming the chicken nuggets anywhere in the park are good.
-Burrito at Tortuga Tavern is pretty good

Otherwise, I would hop on the monorail over to the Polynesian for Captain Cook's (amazing turkey club sandwiches!) or Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary.

I think that Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary is really convenient. Just hop off the monorail and you are there. I really enjoy their food.

DH and I love Pecos Bills and Cosmic Rays. You should be able to find something you like at either of those. We like the wraps you can get. (I think at both places)

I'm not a big fan of the cs restaurants at MK (but sometimes I do eat there) so if you're looking for something a little bit different, I find that the Plaza is a good place to eat. It's a very small place (seats about 47 or so) and has excellent burgers, sandwiches and salads. The portions are large and the fries are the huge steak fries. My favorite is the turkey club sandwich on 7 grain bread (it's to die for:woohoo:). The prices are not too bad. You do need reservations, though. If you've not yet eaten there, why not try it. It will get you out of the hot Florida day and into a nice atmosphere. I've even been in there when street performers came in and interacted with the guests. Very fun.

I second The Plaza!!:thumbsup2 It's really not much more $$ than a CS & the food is fantastic! Great burgers, salads, & the turkey club.

We went for dinner once-paid OOP because we just couldn't find any CS to eat at that sounded appealing. We had a great meal & a gorgeous view of the castle all lit up from our table :goodvibes

I'm a HUGE Fan of Cosmic Ray's and the Chicken Rib Combo... (AND the selection as all the teens were able to find something else that they enjoyed)

You worried me about the "its no longer available" so I did some searching and I have not found anything to imply this is so....

So I'll still recommend Cosmic Ray's and the Chicken Rib Combo and Please let me know why you think this is "no more"

(allearsnet and Disneyworld websites still list on their menus)

Have a magical visit !

Mary

People always disagree on the food, so no offense intended but I find both Cosmic Rays and Pecos Bill to be poor quality. No better than a McDonalds while almost twice as expensive. Anyway, I too would recommend Plaza Restaurant. Good sandwiches/soups and outstanding desserts. You should however make reservations. I wouldn't bother going to Captain Cook - counter service is counter service and there's nothing there you can't get at MK (generally speaking).

Why do you say chicken and rib combo is no longer available? I hadn't read that anywhere.
