So I have decided that on our trip in March we're going to eat around the world showcase- what are your favorite things to eat and where can you find it?? I cant wait to hear your answers!!popcorn::

My kids are wanting to purchase a piece of candy from every country. There are usually individually wrapped pieces to choose from in every country.
DH and I tried drinking around the world during our sans kids trip in 2009. We got sick of drinking-and we were sharing the drinks! We actually just got sick of the physical act of having to drink, not to mention the many restroom breaks.
May try drinking again this year. We tease the kids every year asking them if they know how to get back to the resort because they may have to get Mom and Dad there. :rotfl: Never gonna happen!

Our plan this trip is to try the CS in each country - well those that sound interesting / unique / exotic. I know we're planning on Morocco, Japan and China.

DH is English so we've all been to England multiple times - the France CS just doesn't look interesting other than desserts. And Italy well we eat Italian food with some regularity so I guess we're looking for something 'exotic'. We ate in Mexico previously but not since they changed the menu/ restaurant might give it another try.....

So basically I'm looking forward to the replies too!

Definitly the orange chicken from China and a chocolate crepe from France. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmpopcorn::

Other than that: whatever we feel like when we get past the country. From the UK the pub has a snack called the bulldog: sausage with bacon, mash and cheese. Sounds real good!

And we too will be getting candy from various countrys.

We get the Skool bread (I think that is how hit is spelled) in Norway, my kids share a meal in China, We get the frozen slushie thing in Japan, Lamb and chicken plate in Morroco, dessert in France from bakery, and then we try different candies or anything else the kids see they want to try. This is actually a lot of fun and makes the countries more exciting for the kids because they are always looking out for something to eat or snack on. :goodvibes

We enjoy -

-pastries in Norway (the most popular seems to me the skool bread, but we preferred something I think was called the cloudberry horn, it seemed like a Norse version of a cannoli)

-kaki gori (snow cone) in Japan

-Anything from Karamell Kuche in Germany (OMG, if you hit it when they are making the popcorn fresh, get it), and also the apple streusel and the bratwurst with sauerkraut from Sommerfest

-any pastry from La Patisserie Boulangerie in France (we actually like the whole CS meal offered here, they have some good sandwiches, french bread pizzas, and you pick a fresh-made pastry for dessert)

-Tangierine Cafe in Morocco has an incredible Shawarma Platter (like gyro) that comes with a few sides. You can get chicken, lamb or a combo, and it is HUGE, enough to share between two for a light lunch or more for a nice snack, plus you can sample many things. It comes with Baklava for dessert, which in our experience isn't the best baklava we've ever had, but it's good.

-Fish & Chips from Yorkshire Fish Shoppe in UK. It's smaller than other CS credit meals available, but it's good.

Those are just the snacks and CS bites we like to nosh on. I got the impression you're not interested in table service?

I recommend at least 2 afternoon/evenings for World Showcase to appreciate the best it has to offer.

ETA: If you're interested in adult beverages, the margaritas at La Cava del Tequilla inside the Mexico pavilion are incredible!!! I don't know if they still sell margaritas at a stand outside, but skip them and go for the ones inside! I'm drooling just thinking about them!

wow everything sounds so yummy! We were also thinking about trying out Via Napoli. as for not wanting a sit down- we are going to be in WDW for 6 days mostly for a cheer competition so we dont want to be tied down to a bunch of TS. We know where we're going in MK (Casey's corner, Columbia house and Cosmic Rays), DHS( Trying out starring rolls and Pizza Planet), up in the air for AK and wanted some good ideas for epcot WS. We've always said we were going to eat around the world and have yet to do it :sad2: but we have eaten at the Sunshine Seasons and LOVED it!

I have been looking at the menus at all of these places and I have been DROOLING!!! I just can't wait!!:yay::yay::yay::yay:

We are packed and ready to head out in the morning!!!!:dance3:Looking at this thread is literally driving me crazy! We're spending all day Monday in Epcot, and for the first time ever we aren't eating a TS meal there so that frees up a LOT of room for eating around the world. I will definitely be having the avacado margarita I've heard so much about!

Churros in Mexico is a must for us and we're also suckers for the pretzels in Germany

cheese tartine and Napoleon in France
margarita in Mexico
fish and chips

I'm not sure about every country but i have a few tips.
First make a reservation for Teppan Edo. Your food is cooked right at your table to your specifications I frankly enjoyed steak myself.:thumbsup2
For a quickly prepared meal you must grab fish and chips, one of the best meals you can get at epcot. You should also grab a pretzel in Germany.

DIS GURU
:)

Mmmm so many to chose from! My favourites are:

Lotus Blossom in China (I like the veg & rice or shrimp fried rice)ine
Tangierine Cafe in Morocco (I prefer the wraps to the platters)
La Cantina (nachos)
France (Champagne)
Katsura Grill, Japan (Curry Rice)

and surprisingly.....

Liberty Inn, American (Cheese and bacon burger). I know, burger??? I don't even particularly like burger, but I saw these, fancied one and it blew me away!

Seriously there's so much to choose from, it's whatever you fancy on the day, I would never think a burger would be one of my favourite CS meals :blush:

Share the cheese plate from La Patisserie Boulangerie in France, and the Jalapeno Cheese Stuffed Pretzel from Fife and Drum Tavern in front of American Adventure. Tangierine Cafe is our favorite CS.

The caramel shop in Germany is to DIE for. You'll definitely want to hit up bakery in Norway and France too.

Make sure you stop by the Boulangerie! Picking ADR's for WS is always the hardest because there are so many great places to choose from, not to mention the QS's. I also enjoy Drinking around the World.

I love your thinking!!! On our next trip, I hope to finish my goal of eating at all of the countries in WS. Here are some of my favorites:
San Angel Inn in Mexico:
*Sopa Azteca - traditional tortilla soup with avocado, cheese and pasilla pepper
*Sirloin con Chilaquiles - Grilled sirloin with chilaquiles (layers of fried corn tortilla, green tomatillo sauce, topped with queso fresco, onion, and sour cream) served with black beans
Princess storybook breakfast @ Akershus in Norway:
Fresh Seasonal Fruit
Bacon
Sausage
Scrambled Eggs
Potato Casserole
Biscuits
Cinnamon Rolls
China - eh - not so great but going to try Nine Dragons again
Italy - haven't tried Via Napoli but can't wait to!
Germany - :(
Japan - Teppan Edo
*Gyo no Negi-maki - beef wrapped green onions served with Hickory Smoked Sea Salt
*Entrees includes seasonal vegetables with udon noodles and steamed white rice
Filet Mignon $29.95
Morocco - :furious:hated it there
American Adventure - no table service
France - Chefs de France
*Soupe a l'oignon gratinee - The classic onion soup topped with gruyere cheese
*Plat de Cote de boeuf au cabernet avec pates - beef short ribs briased in cabernet with pasta, pearl onions and mushrooms
*Profiteroles au chocolat - Puff choux with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce
England - can't wait to try Rose and Crown!
Canada - LeCellier
YUMMY!!!!
*Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup - Made with Moosehead Beer and Smoked Bacon
*Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon - with wild mushroom risotto, white truffle and herb butter sauce
And now I'm hungry...

There is a wine tour you can sign up for, 2 tastes of wine in each of these 3 Countries - Germany, Italy and France. I think it's about $20, and you get a passport that gets stamped as you get your wines. You don't have to drink it all in one day, the tour is over when your last "destination" is stamped. I don't drink wine, but my friends had fun with it.
