Eating around the World Showcase questions

My DD10 and I will spend a day at the World Showcase while DH and DS6 stay at the resort. We tried going all together last trip but it didn't turn out very well....DH and DS didn't want to spend the kind of time we want to spend at each pavillion....we felt very rushed.

We are going over menus to plan our day. We want to eat something from each world again but this time, we will take our time. Is it possible to do several sit down places if we're just ordering appetizers or one entree to split? Can you even do that in the sit down restaurants? We don't want to fill up, kwim?

Is there a counter service in Canada? I can't seem to find one.

What is your fav food from each country? The only things from our last trip that made it to our MUST HAVE list is the school bread from Norway and shortbread cookies from UK. We're still going to try new things from both of those countries, though.

Thanks for the help :)

I think sit down will take up so much of your time that you might miss a lot of the magic (entertainment) of each country, but...that said, there is great
snack in Germany-brats or pastry
snack in Italy-cannoli
qs in morocco-schwarma platter
snack in Japan-melon kaki gori at stand
snack in America-funnel cake
snack in France-crepe at stand
qs in England-fish & chips

remember entertainment: World showcase players in Italy and England
Chinese acrobats
African music and Dance
Miyuki in Japan
music in Canada
Bellydancer in Morocco
etc

I agree - I think multiple TS restaurants would take up too much time. I would suggest asking and choosing one you both would like and then doing CS/snacks for the rest. The pretzels in Germany and desserts in France make for great snacks!

My DD and I have done this before and we stuck to CS locations and split meals or got a snack. Canada does not have a CS location and we just get candy from there..
We have alot of fun at WS. We always get pearls in japan too to make a special piece of matching jewelry for each of us...
I a looking forward to doing it again but this time we are eating at Chefs so my Remy lover can see.. REMY!

Sounds like an awesome day, because to me, part of Disney will always be the eating. And WS would be the place to do it! I would just stick with apps. Get two apps and share them, that way you get lots of tastes. I don't think you'll have a problem with time, especially if you let the waiter know your plan, they'll likely be happy to have the table back for someone spending more. At the last stop share two desserts!

You also might want to eat at the bar, if the place has one. I love your idea!
:thumbsup2

How does this look? It's all counter service or cart. I really hope it's doable. We'll be there most of the day but it still seems like a lot of food, doesn't it? We'll be sharing everything but when you write it all out like that....seems like a lot. ;)

Mexico-----combination plate
Norway-----school bread
China-------egg roll
Germany----soft pretzel
Italy--------Italian sodas and a cannoli
Japan-------miso soup
Morocco----lamb wrap
France------Grande Marnier slushie for me, crepe for DD :thumbsup2
UK----------fish and chips (or maybe just shortbread to take home)
Canada------if no counter service, we'll get a treat to take home

mommycrawford--you're probably right about sit down meals taking up too much time. The other half of the fun is going to be exploring and watching the entertainment. We're really looking forward to it.

it would be very difficult to do sit-downs at several countries. i would stick to eating snacks/quick things at all the restaurants. here's some of my family's favorites:
1. canada: we always get a frozen mocha at the little stand next to the off-kilter stage. if you were to do 1 sit-down meal, you should definitely choose canada. without a doubt the best country!
2. england: fish and chips :)
3. morocco: my favorite QS in the WS! get some lamb and couscous at the little QS restaurant... or dessert!
4. japan: shaved ice or frozen drink
5. america: funnel cake
6. china: we always get egg rolls and peach iced tea! yum!!

have a great time! WS is definitely my favorite place at WDW! :thumbsup2

It sounds fun. If you're going to be there all day. I think you could easily do at least 2 TS restaurants. I love the TS in Morocco. The belly dancer is great fun and she gets the kids involved too.

That looks good and yummy.. I'm hungry now. By the way, you can get the same shortbread at Trader Joe's now so I'd go for the fish and chips. They were excellent!

Yum. I hear the chocolate ice cream in France gets raves. You may want to add that to your list. I'm drooling as I type.

Kaki Gori in Japan is a must do, and if the drummers are playing, it's even better! Also if Miyuki is doing a demonstration, try to catch her. She's amazing!

Along with the school bread in Norway, try a pretzel, I got one with almonds on it, it was delish :thumbsup2

You can get candy bars from the UK - I love the Aero bar.

Obviously not a choice for your daughter, but a stiff drink can be great for the adults! Try the Fiesta Margarita or a Bailey's Coffee (which for some reason is found in... Norway?!?) Bass Ale is also a great choice. Can you tell I did some drinking in World Showcase? :rotfl:

If you like beer, might I also suggest the Yuengling in the American pavillion? Yuengling is America's oldest brewery (and is located in Pottsville, PA, just over the mountain from me - what a shock to see Yuengling in WDW!) .

For counter service, Tangierene Cafe is awesome. Try a schwarma platter, or some baklava for dessert!
