Thank you for the compliment. I do look forward to wearing that dress again, once it gets a bit warmer.

As for Illuminations, I thought it would be a long shot to find a seat with a great view. I really wanted the nachos so that was my priority.

Being able to hear the music was good enough. No snit involved in with that one.



I was glad that Marv was able to find some time to meet. We had a great talk.

I did some of the usual rides during EMH

I found the lies in Germany.

I tried a few night pictures.

I walked back to Future world to Find Nemo.

The best of the bunch this time.

I walked around to SE but it was closed. I had done everything but Soarin’ and SE. Back out to the front and to the busses. I was back to the resort by midnight.

I recently read that a NASA scientist endured a test 24 hrs of 2 g-forces (MS is just a little more than 2g). I can't imagine that. I'm fine after one ride, but one time when I rode it twice in a row I found out that once is enough.

I couldn't imagine 24 hours. I can ride once easy- twice depending on how hot it is and how hydrated I am, pretty easy. After that it begins to wear on me a bit.

It was fun to watch from MK. Everyone was just sitting around waiting for the parade and Wishes watching. When the lightning flashed bright the whole crowd reacted. Mickey could have ran around the hub without his pants and I don't think anyone would have noticed.

In my past little bit of 'research' on this, having no desire to be too much of a liar to my students, it seems that the custom was true only in a very small section of Germany. There are several different stories surrounding its beginnings, including a pickle saving the life of a dying prisoner. Who knows if anything in any of them are true, but hey, America has the apple guy, so they can have the pickle guy.

I guess because it is a unique story, I'm going to believe that somewhere along the lines, some form of it was true. I'm sticking to the pickle story with my second graders, with the preface that it was only for a small part of Germany. If nothing else, Americans have made it a German tradition, so we're going with it. No big 'dill' if we're wrong, right?

I will have to ask my mom again about the pickle story. She is a "real" German so maybe she can shed some light on this. I have a feeling that she had no idea either since I do have a pickle for our tree, and I think she may have commented on that years ago.
I know few other "real " Germans around here laugh at the tree and Caramel store since neither are authentic German items.

I am sure it had to come from somewhere, An urban myth that large has to have a bit of reality in it.

I do have a pickle. I used to hide it on the tree and the kids would search daily and receive a treat when thye found it.
Now that the kids are big I have not done that in years.

I like Mission space. I will probably only do it once a trip and if I miss it I won't be heartbroken.

I had the pleasure of meeting Marv this evening. He was in my town for Andrew's soccer tournament.

We mat at a local mall at the Disney store. We had a great talk.

MArv, I enjoyed our time together and next time you are in town we will have to go to Wan Fu!
