Plane that is supposed to fly over and around a major hurricane.
Like I was saying...we're at the gate waiting for our flight. Daniel is checking football stuff, I am reading threads on Disney dining here at the DIS. Basically I am trying to keep myself occupied.
Some more people arrive and look at us because we're matching:
Whatever, we're newlyweds and we're entitled to be cheesy. Yup.
Finally, we board the plane and the pilot assures us that he is going to fly above and around the hurricane. Fine by me. I'm sitting by the window, and I am super paranoid. The stewardess comes by and asks what I want to drink and I want to say, "Top shelf margarita" but realize that it's 10:45 a.m. I opt for coffee. I don't like coffee. Eh.
Coffee comes in the middle of some awful turbulence. Lovely.
Pilot announces, "If you look to the left you can see the hurricane folks."
I snap a picture at this point:
If anyone sees the hurricane, please let me know.
I shut my window, and try to drink my coffee. I'm so occupied with not spilling hot liquid on myself nor my Mickey shirt that I stop paying attention to the turbulence. Eventually the flight is smooth again, and all is well in the world.
We land, which is the most terrifying part of the flight to me, and I am super psyched to be in Orlando, FL. It's beautiful!! The weather channel predicted rain, but there wasn't a cloud in sight.
My happy mood is quickly gone when I realize I have no earthly idea how to get to the Disney Magical Express counter. We get on the shuttle, and then we get off.
Me, "I think we get on the shuttle."
Daniel: "I don't."
Me: "I'm pretty sure."
Daniel gets off the shuttle.
Fine, be difficult.
We walk around some more with dumb looks on our faces.
Me: "Let's get on the shuttle."
Daniel:"I told you we should get on the shuttle."
Me: "What?!"
We get on and finally arrive on the right side. Then a TSA person sees us in our Mickey shirts and points us in the right direction. Finally, we see a CM holding a DME sign.
I approach her and she informs me to walk roughly half a mile, take the escalator down, and I would then see the desk. We walk. We go down the escalator. We finally see the DME desk. A couple gets in line in front of us, and we are about to follow them when a CM tells us only 1 of us can go check in.
Me: "But they...fine."
I didn't have the energy to protest. I check us in, we walk down a little red carpet onto bus 1 to the All Star Resorts. Our driver was friendly, and the video they show really gets you into the Disney spirit.
I heard about long waits for the DME, but it was a quick and painless process to us. We got from Orlando MCO to our resort in about 40 minutes. Not bad considering our bus made a stop at All Star Sports first.
After being dropped off, we proceed to check in. The CM was helpful and friendly, so I decided to ask for a King bed.
CM: "Ma'am we don't have many available."
Me: "I understand, could you please check though? It'd make our day!"
CM: Winks at me and talks to some girl for a minute, and then comes back with the news, "We can get you into a King room away from the pool but close to the main building."
SCORE! The rest of the check-in process was easy and quick.
Then we walk over to room 2642 at the All Star Music Jazz Inn 2...
To be continued!
