Eat at home

Switched it up tonight. The pasta bake turned into regular pasta. The extra step of baking it would have taken to long and my hubby wouldn't have been able to chow before he had to leave this evening. Made a mini chicken (leftovers) mozzarella bake for the toddler. Mixed the leftovers with some cheese and sauce I was cooking for pasta, baked it and voila!

I am trying to eat what we have on hand this month so I figured this will help me be accountable

Sunday: Chicken Cordon Blue, Garlic shells pasta, peas
Monday:green salad, spaghetti w/meat sauce, garlic texas toast
Tuesday: Chicken pot pies with steamed veggies broccoli/cauliflower, carrots (to bulk it up)

Plan for rest of week:
Wed: Meatballs, white rice, some kind of veg
Thurs: Sausage, Mashed Potatoes, peas and corn
Friday: Hot dogs, baked beans

Sat: Pot Roast with root veggies
Sun: leftovers - hopefully meal out for mother's day :rolleyes1

Does anyone plan their meals a month at a time? I've been really slacking lately with doing it each week. So I am hoping the monthly one will help keep me in line!

So proud of myself! Today has been a VERY trying day. There is drama at work, I lost my cool with DD who was being stubborn while I was trying to get her ready for pictures and then we got stuck with someone who was training at the portrait studio and wanted to use us as guinea pigs :headache:

While we were driving home from pictures, DD says Mommy lets go to Spaghetti Warehouse for dinner. I said I don't know maybe. DH gets home and DD says Daddy we're going to Spaghetti Warehouse for dinner. And even though it sounded delicious and tempting, especially considering the day I had, I got up and made pork chops, corn on the cob and hashbrowns for my family :dance3: Normally I would have thrown my coat on and run as fast as I could towards that door. But I've committed to saving money by eating at home, with the food we have and sticking to my meal plan and by golly I'm gonna do it!!!!

I do. I am actually starting the process of working on June's set of menus. It helps me to work so far ahead so that I don't wait until the night before my weekly grocery trip. If you click on my blog in my sig you can see my monthly plan for May (it may be a post back).

I have been recently doing a monthly plan for meals. I keep a file of new recipes I want to try and pull that out and try to put in a few for each week and then I fill in with family favorites. It helps give me an idea of what groceries will cost for the month and if I see one of the items on sale I can grab it and freeze it. I also realize that there will always be changes as the month happens and adjust accordingly.

I have trouble sticking with weekly, I can't even imagine doing it for a month!

I think we would have been at the Spaghetti Warehouse! We do okay as long as things are going well but my Eat at Home plan goes straight out the window whenever life gets chaotic!

Here's last night:

Good thing you don't live near me. YOur food looks really good. On a bad night at my house, I would probably just show up at your house for dinner. :goodvibes

Tonight we are going out to dinner for my Aunt's birthday. I am happy because we are going to our favorite Mexican restaurant and get to avoid the Cinco de Mayo crowds by going tonight instead of tomorrow.

Tonight we are having Pizza Pasta Salad and Garlic Texas Toast. I joined an online menu planning service about a month ago and I am LOVING it!

-the food has been yummy
-it has introduced more variety into our meals
-it is designed for Aldi, so the grocery bill has been mimimal
-it makes out my grocery list for me

LOVE IT!!!!

Surprise dinner out tonight at our local yacht clb with my husband, grandmother, and parents. This is my Mom's last "really good" meal before her double mastectomy tomorrow. On a brighter note, I will be staying with her indefinately after her release and I've gotten some great ideas for meals to prepare for her and dad!

Today's shopping trip was WAY too much money. We are cleaning everything out and restocking so we can start eating healthier. So, I spent a lot to get some of the items we should have on hand.

Tonight is BLTs, potato salad, and fruit. Tomorrow is Chicken Tikka Masala with Naan bread for lunch since I have a final tomorrow night (my last one!).

I do and I love it! Only go grocery shopping once a month too and it saves me a ton of money!

Best wishes for your mom's speedy recovery :grouphug:

Dinner is looking iffy here. I'm just now eating lunch:rolleyes:
